Why is your Lacie drive upside down?

Make a long story short... wire clutter.

The power receptacle on the Lacie is on the top if you mount it right, and that sticks out over the 4" bump in my computer nook, and drives my anal retentive wife crazy. So I mounted it upside down.

But quite frankly, it makes a lot more sense. I don't know why Lacie didn't think of it.

I have a PowerMate that I don't use any more. A few OS updates ago it really started acting strange. It was conflicting with my mouse. Sometimes I would mouse over my dock looking for an app and it would open the app the mouse was over. It was like I was clicking at random. I was about to go nuts when my boyfriend told me he had read online that the PowerMate was the problem. This was on my G4. I haven't tried it since I got my G5. Maybe I'll give it another try.

very nice doofy, and congrats on choosing Mac. :D

hi, just registered.

I was looking at all your setups and was like *green envy surrounds me*...*greener envy*...finally saw the setup of fellow board member which reminded me a TV Studio *greenest envy* XD

I just have a pic of my setup right now and it´s full of words and doodles, so excuse the childish presentation :p

Here are some of my setups, starting from my eMac last year:

I had this PM G4 1.25 for a little while:

I sold that and got a PM G5. It's not visible in this picture (it's to the right of the TV, sitting on the same shelf thing the VCR and iSub was on in the second picture). However, this picture shows how I had the desk set up.

That G5 had to go before I took a month-long overseas trip this past summer. I got a nice table to replace that horrible little desk I had been using.

I had a 17" 1.25GHz iMac G4 for a little while -- notice how big a difference the table makes:

The most recent setup pictures I took are these:

You can see I'm using the same USB switch Phat_Pat uses, to switch the keyboard and mouse between the PowerBook and the Power Mac. The IBM P260 21" monitor has a switch on it to go between the DVI and VGA inputs.

Some of the stuff pictured above: Wiebetech DuoGB FW enclosure with 400GB RAID 0 (2x200GB), Griffin USB Hub for Audio, Wired & Wireless Apple Keyboard and Mouse, JVC TV, VCR & headphones and Compaq DLT drive.

I'll have an all new setup in the next few days because I finally got a DP Power Mac G5, a JVC D-VHS deck, Klipsch ProMedia GMX D-5.1 speakers and 23" Apple Cinema Display (ADC type). Now I'll get really good use out of my JVC HD10.

You don't seem to keep computers for very long...you must have a very disposeable income, I assume.

If I had lots of money I'd have a much nicer setup, but as it is I just go with what I can afford. I'll probably have to sell my 12" PowerBook soon because of the 23" Cinema Display I bought.

All the computer buying and selling I've done hasn't made or lost me money. I'm even overall, with one exception. I bought and sold a couple of 900MHz G3 12" iBooks last year and the profit allowed me to get an 867MHz 12" PowerBook G4. I had been using a 700MHz G3 12" iBook for 11 months before that, so all in all I upgraded from that to the PB G4 for about $100.

Out of curiosity, was the one that reminded you of a TV studio mine?

I've been looking through SpyMac's setups page for a while fairly frequently, and I just took a quick look through these setups. I notice one difference: more eMacs, iBooks, and iMacs; less PowerBooks and PowerMacs. I hardly ever see an eMac over at SpyMac. Its probably because people are smarter with their money over here. ;)
