you're in the US, right? why do you guys have such big bottles of beer? and how many standard drinks are in a bottle? i've never seen such huge bottles over here... does US beer have a lower alcohol content?

that my friend, is the infamous "40", a favourite in old school rap songs. the 40 refers to the volume, 40 fluid ounces i believe. oh, and it's "malt liquor", very cheap stuff, and a packs a punch depending on what you get of course. great way to buy beer if you ask me!

Chanoc, where did you get the chair? I want it for my room.

Calihafan

Those chairs belong to the University of Alaska Anchorage, comfortable. If ever in Anchorage come to the UAA Consortium Library and plug in (or go wireless, but I heard they have plans to add a VPN to the wireless network.).

First- a general shot. You might sopt the Dual G5 under the desk. 5 points to anyone who knows what the red contraption on the far left of the grey desk, in front of and under the guitar. My room is a terror. That camera on top is used as an iChat webcam occasionaly. The iMac in the second shot is my server.

Here's my old setup in my old flat.

I'd post my current one but it's far far far too messy to even consider.

Nice selection of DVDs, I never knew that This Life was out on DVD. BTW, why the Paris Metro/RER Map on the corkboard? I see UK as your location.

Past and Present (The powermacs are where i used to work, and the ibook is my old laptop)

I was living in Paris at that point. :)

As regards This Life, only Series 1 is available on DVD, shockingly. I've been waiting for Series 2 since Xmas 2001… :(

Well.... just came home with a new PB! Here is my "Revised" setup! I also got the new fangled HP upright scanner which is the only option I had for space!

Also.. Please don't ask me why my Lacie is upside down! - just think wire clutter and power cables!

Here is the set up, and all the boxes (trees) it killed!

based on your signature, depending on what comes out in Jan, I may end up hating you!

The problem with computing and computers is you never can keep the top position for more than a couple of months (if you're lucky!)

haha, good point! Nice setup man, congrats.

I haven't been taking pictures of all my setups, so I went through my picture collection and gathered pictures that happen to include my setup:

Before I got my mac, in the middle of some big scary project I was working on ~April 2003
setup_cv_of_doom.jpg

After I got my ipod & powerbook, updating the ipod (that's the same desk, at the same exact spot) ~ December 2003
setup_ipod_update.jpg

The cat being exceptionally cute (same desk, moved into a different room) ~ February 2004
setup_cute_Cat.jpg

The cat being exceptionally amusing (same as previous pic, got rid of old crt monitor, minimalist tendencies taking over) ~ March 2004
setup_funny_cat.jpg

Same as previous, showing off the box i made ~ April 2004
setup_catless.jpg

Back home from school, in my room (once again, same desk, different room (and zip code))~ June 2004
setup_clean.jpg

Current setup (got some real speakers and a 23" cinema display, also please take note of the green desktop background matching the green carpet, and please pardon the absolutely terrible picture)
setup_current.jpg

Here's my current desktop (23" ACD & 21" IBM P260, 1600x1200@90Hz) . . .

setup_12_10_twoscreens.jpg

The Cinema Display is connected to my dual 1.8 PCI-X G5. I could connect the CRT to it for spanning if I wanted to but for now 1920x1200 is plenty of screen space. The CRT has DVI and VGA inputs and it's switchable, so you could have two computers connected to it. The single G5 is connected to the CRT.

. . . and my triple G5 (the single 1.8 PCI-X is on the right; I'm in the process of selling that one):

setup_12_10_dualG5.jpg

That's my LaCie 1TB Bigger Disk Extreme in the middle, and on the top of the single G5 is a Linksys 5-port gigabit switch. The switch makes more noise itself than both G5s together.
