I have my rinky dink little Nokia 3120. No camera, not even polyphonic ringtones. Perk? AMAZING battery life, i charge it maybe once every week and a half and i have it on constantly. It's really small, too, which is nice :) . I really want a V3i, but i'm waiting until Cingular finally starts carrying it my area before i buy one.

I absolutely agree on the Nokia 3120. I have owned a Treo 650, cingular 8125, XDA o2, etc.. but nothing beats the 3120 (I got it for $30 lol). It just works :D I got sick of all the fancy pda/phones freezing.. especially when i would be on a call with someone!

If I absolutely need email/browsing etc.. i just take my macbook with me. It's annoying to do all that on a phone.

This is tough. I'll say that yours is on the left, your wife's is the middle (i would say your daughter but hers is still in the box) and the right one is your son's.

Correct??????

WINNER!:D

My thoughts EXACTLY. I've begun to withdraw from fancy phone. I've owned every variation of treo and every blackberry since the 7230 (literally) along with the motorola q, and other misc. windows based devices. It's simply too hard and time consuming to surf the web etc. on a phone- even a 500 dollar phone (which ended up being a HUGE piece of crap- the 700p) At any rate, I got the Motorola Krzr and I don't think it's worth the money, So I'm going with the Slvr L6. A simple NON-itunes candy-bar phone with a vga camera and bluetooth. Do you cant to know the best part? It's FREE :D

Finally got my four (4) SE w810i's:) . Wife/youngest daughter/son and me. Here's a pic of three...the last one (daughter's) is still in the box waiting for her to come home and pick it up. These phones are really cool. I've noticed a distinct clarity in the calls. I can actually understand (shortened)................

I'm in the market and considering an L6. These phones look VERY, VERY nice. How do you like them? How's the music player and can you load mp3's from a mac?

These phones are really cool. I've noticed a distinct clarity in the calls. I can actually understand/hear my eldest daughter when I call her in Michigan..... As you can see we've already found a site with themes. Hmmm, can you guess who's phone is who?????;) BTW, iSynch works like a charm. I haven't done anything with mp3's yet....waiting on the 2gb card I bought off ebay ($43). The radio works, my son tried it and then I called him and the mic etc. worked great. I'm sure that there's a bunch I still need to learn but it'll be fun. Cheers

Excellent choice. If you or your wife or kids need themes games or anything hit me up an email.

@appleintelrock, the external speaker is respectable for music playback, not the best on the market but not shameful in the least. Walkman player, remember that because NOTHING on the market that has a phone can play music as clear and perfectly though the FastPort connector (supplied headphones, FM Transmitter, or bedside stand stereo speakers) like the Walkman W810i. NOTHING! Smartphones included even the TyTN. And I'm talking STOCK headphones. Imagine with SHURE headsets.

Nice thing is it comes with 3 different ear canal plugs that are soft rubber. I'm so glad that I bought an extra pair because I'm upgrading to the SE K790 James Bond Edition (collectors piece); but just to use for a short time.

On the fly I can switch to walkman/FM radio, browse through my playlists (even one's I'm not playing music with), even add new tracks from my MSDuo Pro card, and switch to create an SMS, Calendar appointment, heck launch & play a Java game (limitation alert: I can only launch 1 Java app at a time - firmware limitation not hardware/memory limited) while still hearing my track playing. It'll pause my music if I make or accept an incoming call (the alert for incoming accepting also pausing music playback), or a bluetooth file transfer that completed DL'ing; then returns automatically to music. and its elegant. If I'm at anywhere in the menu of my phone, I press the Walkman button and I'm in my track, I browse playlists, adding music, or anything the like and press the walkman button .... BAM! I'm back where I left off in the menu.

zagato27, excellent choice. Now get snapping with those candid photos. Majority of them you'll be presently surprised.;) :D

Question zagato27, in your themes, do you see ones on the phone called Emerge, Equalizer, Orbit, and Walkman? Their animated Flash Lite based themes. Orbit is just incredible! If not then its because the Cingular firmware has stripped them out, dont worry Rogers Wireless here in Canada does the same thing. Still incredible phone for the money. Great style and incredible function.

arghhhhhh i said this before and i'll say it again, Europeans have A HELLA LOT MORE BETTER LOOKING cellphones than the states. Whenever I go to Europe I always stop by an orange store and check out the phones and drool over them. haha

I just got back from a trip so I haven't had much time to play with the SE w810i. I have added some themes which was nice. My son has ripped some MP3's to use as ringtones. I've asked him to do some for me too but, as I said I just walked through the door. As to the walkman portion, haven't had the opportunity to use it. I'm waiting for a 2gb card to arrive before I start putting music on the phone. The software that comes with the phone is PC only. However, when you hook up the phone via usb you see two drives. One drive is the memory for the phone and the other is the memory card. I have heard that you just drag your mp3's onto the "drive". One dissappointment, the phones came with only a 128k card. I thought that it would be the 512k

I can tell you that iSync works great using the BT on my G5. What a time saver to be able to add your entire address book. Oh yes, my son has used the FM feature and we tested what would happen when I called him. FM stops and you answer the call using the built in mic on the headpone cord. BTW, this cord also works as the FM antenna so you must use it when FMing. Lots of stuff to learn. I know that I can add pictures and associate them with names along with special ring tones but I need some time. Initial impressions: these phones are really small, I mean small!. I like the interface. I don't have all the data plans with Cingular....connnect to the net, IM, text msg, streaming etc. I just wanted a good phone, a plus that it comes with a good camera. Again, my son has been burning his up. He and his buddy say that it takes excellent pictures. I'll get around to it. Battery life, I can't say. I was a bit hesitant to turn it on and leave it on this past week as I didn't have a car charger(rectify this tomorrow). Again, screen is excellent. I did buy a leather case off eBay for $10. Clips on the belt. Says that it was made specifically for the w810i but I don't think so. My son says that there are some fabric cases made for a Ninetendo game that are the exact size....JDM only but sold on eBay. Think we'll get one and see which is better...leather or fabric. Will let you know.

Bottom line: I like the phone and the service. Big learning curve for me. I'd recommend them. I bought mine from the Cingular site. They had a deal, I think it was $199 with a $50 instant rebate and then another $50 mail in rebate. Final price $99 after all the rebates. The last rebate comes in the form of $50 credit card...I wish it was a check but I'll think of something. I think my final bill was a bit over $600 for four phones and the family plan.

Sorry bout being so disjointed. i just got home, grabbed some cold pizza and had to reset "parental controls" for my younger son's profile. He's breathing down my neck to get off. He's been without dragon something all week. Gotta run. Cheers

Still haven't had the time to check out the process for MP3's on the w810i. My son and daughter both have uploaded songs using a PC (son) and iBook (daughter). Seems like it was just drag and drop on the Mac. Not quite sure on the PC, I tend to stay away from the "dark side" . Ok, concerning pictures. The camera is a 2.0 mega pixel. I haven't taken any pics yet but my son has....of course. Here's a couple of "macro" examples. My son loves his 92 Acura Legend LS Cpe....he's a high school junior. He's using the Acura symbol as his desktop right now. Looks pretty nice. Here they are.

Clarity is excellent! Great detail. Pictures of the entire car here: . https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/114245/. (post #1049). I'm gonna have to start using that camera. Still waiting on that 2gb card:( Cheers

W810i MP3's

@zagato27,

If your using the removable Disk Drive for PhoneCard (MSDuo Pro) on your Mac for the W810i.

Drill into the Media Files > MSSEMC > MP3 folder and there just dump MP3's or AAC (non fairplay of course) there. Personally I dont use this method, I use the Disc2Phone software on my PC. Glad to here iCal over BT sync's perfectly.

> Glad you like the 2MP cam on the W810i. I Told ya camera is incredible. ;)

I change cellphones too often :p

Got this about 4 months ago, one of m favorite phones thus far.

Got the 2gb pro duo card in the mail today. SE w810i is charging, so tomorrow it's time to load some tunes! Think I paid bout $43 for the Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo. It actually came from Hong Kong, so it took bout 2 wks for the mail to bring it. Came with a "adapter" too. I've checked and found them cheaper on eBay, oh well. I'm happy I got it. Cheers

I got my BlackBerry Pearl the other day and I'm happy with. In comparison to other smartphones I've owned (Treo 600, 650, and 700p as well as Blackberry 7290 and 8700c etc.) this takes the cake. This phone has an almost OS X like interface and ever feature works great. I'd highly recommend this phone.
