i have a nokia 6300, and for me this is the 'ideal' phone that i've been wanting for the last couple of years.
Radio, Mp3 playback, with easy to use menus and a nice editable GUI, no cheap plastic but good stainless steel body (iphone? ipod?).
and the two MOST important factors:
Size: one of the thinnest phones from nokia, measuring at 12mm at the keypad
Screen: 16.7 million colours 240x320 TFT screen, the pixels are so tightly packes that i can not tell them apart with naked eye.
and last but not least, very very affordable .. and extremely sophisticated.
Is the quad band version out yet? And how's the speaker volume?
There IS NO quad band of the 6300. just 2 versions. the one you want is 850/1800/1900Mhz for North America

I have the LG Chocolate and I'm with you.
I cannot stand the thing. Mind you, I keep good care of everything that I own, but somehow, the phone's touch sensors are completely out of whack, i.e. text messages that I've typed are erased without me touching anything, menus won't load even when I press OK, and when I finally get to a menu and press the down arrow, it goes into a maniacal scroll that does NOT stop. (Yes, I've changed the sensitivity levels.)
I'm patiently waiting to purchase a better phone by August. Until then, I absolutely loath the chocolate.
Why don't you take it into Verizon? When I had Verizon I had the Chocolate phone and I had those SAME EXACT problems as you and they replaced it right away.
I did and they're trying to charge me for it.
I'd rather just pay for a new phone that isn't a chocolate rather than risk having to pay for another one that will spaz out on me.
Nope. No water damage. I've had the phone since October 2006. They still want to charge me though. I'm going to try another store and see what they say. Maybe, I caught the rep on a bad day or something.
I'm aware but you know what these new iPhone owners are like, all wanting to show of their new toys...

no unfortunately, its not quad band.
the speaker volume is fantastic, for normal calls volume set to 5 works just fine, 7 if you are listening to radio in your room and 10 if you are listening to radio while you shower
.... oh, and 1 if you are listening through sennheiser cx300's haha the screen is fantastic, 160ppi 16million colors .. same as iPhone
@mattcube64: I am not being rude, congratulations on your purchase but that acrylic case really takes a HUGE hunk out of iPhone's look ... it looks better without that.

It's a V256 from Verizon and I hate it so much.
The damn thing's constantly restarting it's self and freezing up in my pocket, I'm on my second one and this one's less than a month old. Verizon will only keep replacing it with the same crap, not letting me get a free upgrade to something decent (and I paid $100 EXTRA for this phone), but my contract's almost up so I'm not going to buy a new one.
Today for example it's sitting on a table and I get a text message so I go to pick it up, the second I get it in my hand the screen goes blank for a few second then comes back up frozen.
The damn thing's constantly restarting it's self and freezing up in my pocket, I'm on my second one and this one's less than a month old. Verizon will only keep replacing it with the same crap, not letting me get a free upgrade to something decent (and I paid $100 EXTRA for this phone), but my contract's almost up so I'm not going to buy a new one.

Really? I had that same problem with my old KRZR. I though t it was either a KRZR or my KZR related issue. You're the first I've heard having the exact same thing happen on a different phone.
I can say I am now going to be a dedicated AT&T customer.

Heres my Blackberry 7250. Had it for a while now. Good and reliable phone. I just like Google Maps because i tend to need directions alot.
