Its nice, but the software is a bit slow. Firmware, I wouldn't even want to tell you how to reflash it with how I messed mine up. Personally with the price of the N73 I would rather go for the SE K800i. They're about the same price iirc. My fathers girlfriend has one and it's an exellent phone.

OK, I found out how to flash it and it seems easy enough, just change the product code and update it by the looks of it. I dont like Sony Ericsons TBH, and I like the S60 platform because there is LOADS of software for it out there. So I will get a N73 I think... But can you tell me what went wrong when you flashed it?

Actually I'm not sure if it has to do with my work thinking we're all stupid or their desire to continue to control us, but my 8703e did not have the icon on the home screen either out of the box. When they decided they needed to move servers i had to reactivate it. To do that they gave us instructions on where to find the icon. This is on the Sprint network but people with a BB and no phone # tied to it in the company sit on t-mobile and also have the icon hidden. fwiw. ;)

lol its to further control you. I recently just took another course to update my skills. IT IS possible for a provider to PRE-configure a BlackBerry with certain settings (like the hidden icon) and such and even restrict personal email setup for a company ordering a large lot of BlackBerry units without ever having to open the box. HRT initiates when first connected the network (either on GSM networks when a new SIM is inserted, or CDMA type units connect to the providers network or an authorized roaming partner). That said NEITHER is the situation in this case. If you read my initial posting you'd see that a HIDDEN Enterprise Action icon wouldn't stop ANYONE from going to OPtions> Adv Options> Enterprise Activation. You cannot HIDE this function here. ITs there EVEN if activated on the BES. Fact was the 2 users I troubleshooted did NOT have this option - which concerned me that something else in the OS was pre-configured this way. When Verizon was contacted by user (no firmware upgrade or re-install was done); our Admins most likely resolved it with Reinstall of the firmware. Thanks for the tip though as it will help others just in case.

@ idesign245 (you mentioned don't deal with Rogers, lol ). Is you Shine unlocked? I may be PM'ing you in the next 30days for all kinds of questions on how to set this phone up. I Gotta purchase one for my wife .... she is fixated on this phone. I call it a vanity mirror; just my view. Is that a joystick under the screen? Did it come with a velvet like case that self polishes smudges and finger prints upon insertion & removal?

Thanks.

So far kicks i started to use sure type and my god its so freakin cool. So much easier then multi tap. It really is good as guessing what you want.
howard forums is ok. Navigating sucks. WHy do they need do have 40 pages threads i have no clue...
i'm tempted to install XP to start making themes....

I have the SE K850i
That just might be my next phone, too...

My Z520i has started acting up again (and it just came back from repairs), and the (unhacked) iPhone is probably far away from being released in Norway... and if I get that phone (or one of the other I'm considering, all behind the K850i at the moment: SE W960i, SE P1i, SE K660i, Nokia E61i, Nokia N72 and Nokia E65) with a one year contract, guess what I want as a gift next year... ;)

My HTC TyTn that I've owned since August, great device, I hate that it runs on Windows imMobile, but it gets the job done and I've done alot more on this phone than any other phone I've owned, I text more, I actually browse the internet, check my email, write quick notes, etc. I love it.. but I'd love an iPhone more!

:p, how did you do that?

Its my screen saver :D i got it somewhere on the net

The K850i is a fantastic phone and i think you're gonna like it because your previous one was a SE.. I switched from Nokia N73 & i needed some time to adopt, but its still easy to use, it has a great 5MP camera.. the only thing i hate is the speaker.. its not loud and clear like the N73
Norways network is 3G right? so its better to wait for the 3g iphone,if you're going for it ;)

Norways network is 3G right?
Mostly... at least in the main population areas
so its better to wait for the 3g iphone,if you're going for it ;)
My thought exactly... which is why I just as well can get me a phone for the next year or so... :)

Now if only I could get a reasonable plan with lots of data and less talking and texting, I'd been extremely happy. There are only two providers, and both charge NOK 499,- per month for unlimited data, almost $100. And that's on top of regular calls (out) and SMSs. Even my 5mb ADSL line at home is a lot cheaper (and DSL is also traditionally expensive here in Norway).

Just read a rather iffy review of the new SE W960i today, too... and it might just be stricken from my short list of phones which seems to come down to the K850i vs E61i vs N82.

Haven't used a Nokia for years (except for when the Z520i was in the shop, and since that was the same phones that I used all those years ago it hardly counts... ;)), and read much positive reviews on the S60 system... so I might just give them another chance, since SE - for some INSANE reason - omitted WiFi from the upcoming K660i...

I would totally trade you my RAZR if we had the same network. I really want that Nokia now. It's simple, and down to earth, plus a camera. That's all I need.

I don't think it'll work out, I'm from Finland and use a network called "Elisa". But you can buy those phones for pretty cheap I think. :)

Well Forget about the Nokia E65 - its the adopted and ignored redhead of the Nokia S60 format. That finish rubs off VERY quickly just like the nice N76 (razr copy). N72 runs on an old S60 platform - sure lots of apps but all except for a few have been updated. For some $250US more you're better off going for the E61i - size is the killer on this. BUT if you still want S60 expandability and STILL want a camera to match what the K850i has .... consider the Nokia N82.

For roughly $75+ on the K850i's current price or cheaper you ONLY loose the esquisite OS & Triband 3G. But you get WiFi, VGA video recording @ 30fps (vs qvga same fps), TV out & Audio from the 3.5mm jack (same as the N95)

But if you love the flip of the Z520a (very solid phone keep it as a backup, trust me on this) > then go for the SE Z750i (same platform as the K850i, you still get Triband HSDPA 3G, same Media Manager, but you ALSO get A-GPS built in. Video callnig there as well (but you loose the AF & 5MP camera :( ).

No you wouldn't lol. By your own admission that you hate WinMobile you also contradict your moral with emotion that you love it. You've already stated that you use more features than you expect (browse the internet, sms more, etc). Now, for the moment there are more compelling applications for the WM. Lets hope that all that changes when Mac OS X coders really get down to business on the iPhone. Fun too.

Thanks... as I said above:

(;))

The only problem is that I was actually out in shops, browsing and trying to get a feeling for the different phones this weekend, and while the E61i feels like a tank and the K850i (and te W960i for that matter) feels fine, despite of being "all plastic", the N82 was kind of dissapointing: The plastic front seemed extremly flimsy, and had broken off one of the displayed phones and was loose on another... not all that comforting...

But on the other hand: It does everything...

So I guess it's still a three horse race. ;)

I have the 8gb iphone. Got it the day/night 6pm it came out. Only phone I use. Forget my house phone, I have it set-up to transfer all my calls to my iphone. It is so easy to use, I only wish it had a bigger drive, 8 is not enough for me but I'm spoiled by my 80gb ipod video. I carry a lot of Sci-fi TV around with me. I ripped my DVD collection of Farscape, Firefly, SG-Atlantis, SG-1 and some B5. Thank the Goddess for my 2TB MacPro. Right now I'm at work listening to music on my iphone.

So I am pretty sure I am getting a new phone on this friday, and I need some help.. I want a smartphone and I am looking at either a Black Berry Pearl, Curve 8300, Blackjack II, or Moto Q. I am not quite sure what to get, the only thing I know is that I need unlimited messaging and that the BB data plans can get really expensive..

Does anyone have any advice (on the phones), please?

i have a pearl for VZW and for the size and what i do it's great! Its small and fits in my pocket, does the job well.
Only negative is all these cool apps are sorta expensive. I want to get an HTML email reader but its like $30

Basic LG phone from bell. Nothing special about it. Had to buy it due to me jumping around in a puddle and my good samsung falling out. So I had to buy this one out of contract and it was the cheapest. If you consider $180.00 for a plain phone.
