Excellent choices for a feature phones!

Somebodies got an HSDPA (US & EuroAsian compatible) 3G modem in their pocket.

Hmm .... 3.6Mbps (not real world but I've seen USB tethered speed tests - also not consistent over an hour of surfing/streaming/downloading) of 3302Kb/sec = 3.3Mbps. If you manage a consistent 2.6Mbps all the way until the battery lasts, you'd could still enjoy roughly 2.8Mbps over BTv2.0+EDR (which comes in the K850i) !!! :O :D

Best thing is SE's world renowned Battery life. Since my old T18z (4hrs), T39m (6.1hrs), another T39m (6.5hrs), z500 (4hrs), z520 (5hrs), K790a (6.8hrs - 26hrs flight mode for music only); I've always gotten continuous & regular talk times! :apple:

To me ... SE is the Apple of the phone world, while BlackBerry is the Palm of the cellular, mobile email & corporate wireless applications of the world .... when Palm was doing great (around the time of the m505/m525; or just before Sony dropped out).

new LG Voyager :D

hmmm been looking at upgrading from my vx9800 to this. hopefully the price will go down soon though...;)

You said it. One reason i got the iPhone in the first place was that i would be on a GSM network so i can get my SE phone when the iPhone hits the hay. A note on battery life, i hope you are right about SE phones getting great battery life. One reason i still use my old NW-HD5 MP3 player over the iPhone is that i have to charge it about once a month here at school, and that is with using it every day. Sony knows a thing or two about battery life, unfortunately Apple hasn't gotten that far yet. I hope that when the iPhone is done SE will have something very special waiting for me. :D

ALL you with SE phones.

Where do you order your SE phones from? I'm in the states, but i find that on SE's site, they have different phones for all portions of the world. Can you order direct from SE? There are some phones i may be interested in, but are not offered from SE's US online store. Any advice would be welcome.

This is my phone; Motorola W375. The iPhone hasn't come to Australia yet, so in the mean time, I will just keep this phone until I buy the iPhone.:)

The last time I'll be posting this phone as my phone. My beloved e815's run is going to come to an end Thursday when I'll be replacing it with a BlackBerry Pearl 8130 on Verizon. I'll post pictures of that once I get it.

awesome i did the same route, 815 to pearl. I love it. Its very addicting to check your emails every 10 mins...

My beloved 6300. Camera sucks, but it's a great, fast, small, attractive phone that works well.

eBay is your best bet. However, just a word of warning, many on the phones that are on eBay are band new, but they're not supposed to be sold in the US so you may not have any sort of warranty. I got mine from Sony's online store so I'd have a warranty.

Also, if you have AT&T, make sure whatever phone you get has 850MHz and 1900MHz for GSM. This is an absolute must. Especially 850MHz (which only about half of the Sony phones have) because that makes up most of AT&T's network. I think all of the phones sold on SonyStyle are quad-band so you'd be fine with those.

no offense to those that have this phone, but it is utter crap. actually, all LG touch screen phones are. it's absurd how poor their interfaces react to touch. the iphone is nice because you can move fast. with LG models you seriously have to press and hold what you want to select. sorry, having had an iphone when it first came out, then using SE's k850's touch keys for a bit in addition to my friend's voyager and venus, i can easily say that LG has no idea how to implement a proper touch screen phone. the people that own either of those models can't honestly say that they're pleased compared to what else is out there. especially the voyager. in addition, how can you make a phone that requires you to open/close it to use all it's features? you should be able to do whatever you want with it either open or closed. it's retarded that you have to open it to use certain features.
sorry, end rant. but both those LG phones are utter crap and that's a fact.

My phone for now. It's not broken or anything, but i can't stand to use it anymore. The interface is great, but the keys are just bleh.:(

However, my birthday is coming up in a few days, and I've asked my parents to chip in money for a new phone.

This one.

I agree LG does not know how to make a touch screen.

However, most of their phones are very good in quality as well as design. The phones you mentioned in your post don't do a good job of showing that.

The Iphone is also an expensive piece of equipment. Im by no means impressed with the touch screen on the Venus but for what it does and for the cost I got it at, it serves it's purpose and is a good phone.

I found online coverage maps for ATT based on band, and most of the US is 1900mhz, not 850 like i had thought as well, but maybe they are expanding. Also, can i buy a phone from say the UK SE site, and have it shipped to the US, is that allowed?

Still, 850mhz is nice because you'll use the the most on highways and small towns. When I went to college last year all they got was 850Mhz around there.

That phone really scares me. It's just like taping an iPod onto a cellphone and calling it an iPhone :p Just wondering; why does it appeal to you (or any for that matter)

Very addicting. Although my case it's instant. ;):D I think I have as good a signal strength as I had with my e815 on the Pearl as well. Now then, it's pic time!

8130 model right there. Instant email ... then you're on BES (EXCH/Domino/Novell).

I've had my love affair with Blackberry ... I may yet again go back; I left because data pricing here in Canada as hurting me bigtyme. Its one thing to Troubleshoot users from the BES; its another to pay for those data rates when income wasn't justifying it. IF I ever get a career over at RIM I'll let you guys know.

My biggest issue with RIM calling the Curve or the Pearl a "consumer" device is that you cannot listen to music (either thru the speakers or via 3.5mm Jack) and view photos from the phone/MicroSD (not attachments in email) at the same time. This to me is asinine. I've been able to do this with SE phones for ages.

You can order directly from SonyStyle but you'll pay an arm & a leg. There are a few reputable sites online ... (I've done business directly with) hi-mobile.net, SNTraders.com, etc etc .... just make sure you get a 3rd opinion from those here you would trust; or haven't wronged anyone before. Also do a "whois" search. If it lists a solid contact information, email address; and registered owner of the site (not another company, who's whois report is vague) then you should be alright. Checking the contact information as well helps even calling during & off business hours to see if its somebody's personal cell or a true business.

I can't wait to get it. :)

I hate to tell you this, but that phone is absolutely horrid to use. Espically the touch controls. They're absolutely horrible. I used to work at Radioshack, and I hated selling that phone. Its got a stupid design too, with the constant having to flip back and forth for its different functions.

On BIS, actually.

I've read about the data rates up there. Like $100 for 1GB? Less than that? That is insane. I'm happy for my $30/month 5GB EVDO coverage. :D

On the 8130, I just tried that. Playing music through headphones and then went back to photos all in the Media application and the music kept playing. Could you be using the 8100?

Sweet ... I've been troubleshooting BES for the past 1.3yrs without my own 8100 - more on that later. BIS was fast for Pop3 emails but I'm hearing its now becoming instant. Great news.

You got to rub it in, don't you ;) . Prior to 4mths ago it was $100/mth = 1GB and it was "soft capped". Rogers version of "unlimited data" if you went over you wouldn't get a call, nor even an sms to inform you, you'd just be billed incredible overages ($3/MB). Now its $65/mth = 1GB, and it throttles upwards in increments, $75/mth = 2GB, etc if you go above your oringinal 1GB. Its getting better, but way WAY too slow. February 8TH regular cellphones will allow on the phone itself (no BT/USB tethering) of True unlimited surfing - using the phones browser for $7/mth! But I highly doubt Blackberry's will be included. I pray but I don't think our Wireless Deity is listening ;)

DUDE! You've just made my month! I'm GLAD to see that OS 4.2 allows for this! You are correct that the 8100 didn't allow this, hence why I used it for only 3-4mths and sold it.

I already got rid of my unlocked AT&T Motorola Q9h .... back to my SE K790a. I'm considering the K850i for night on the town usuage ... but with OS 4.5 coming for BB's with HTML (limited of course) Email support .... the 8120/8320 just might get my hard earned cash!
