nice. that computer makes me drool

It's definitely got some *bling* factor to it. I posted this in the other thread as well but what I was thinking was that if this latest MBP has FW 800, that should mean it's a different motherboard, right? I wonder if that would fix all the issues the older machines were having ...

Hey guys,

I just got my new MBP 2.0 Ghz 2x512 7.200 rpm.. i've geen charging it last 30 min and it gets pretty hot @ the [TAB] key area and above the left speaker... i've unhooked it for 15 minutes now from MagSafe and it seems it's cooling down.. since this is my 1st mac, i dont know how "hot" is normal..

How is the MBP cooled? fan? sinkpipes?

adios

PS serial begins with W8615

Nah, the 17" is to big for what i do... and i've bought a 23" ACD aswell.. so i dont have to do it for the bigger display..
Only a bit lame it gets pretty hot when it's charging while i'm working on it..

Does the battery fit snugly against the chassis with no gap on the MBP? My G4 PB had that problem. The Apple Store gave me a new battery, but I still have a little bit of a problem. At least I scored a fresh battery out of it!

How hot are we talking? Like snatching your fingers away hot? Bottom, palmrest, above the F keys or above the speakers? The heat question is a little subjective but if you describe it better maybe one of us could chime in on whether it sounds 'normal' or not ...

I'm slightly confused about the whine issue.

Now, I'm plugged in, and sure enough i can hear a whine.

I thought it didnt happen when you were plugged in. It is coming from the left of the machine, it goes when isight is on, or when i switch the machine to Single CPU. So, I'm pretty much guessing this is the whine people are talking about.

But, I thought this only occured on battery power?

Another question, to do with charging - i can only reach 99% charged. Should the status go up to 100%? When i click the battery in the menu bar, then it says 'battery charged'....but percentage whise its not 100%...
