I'm having that issue with my 6 right now too (as I wait for my X, ugh). But you when type "I" it shows up as that for you but I figured out it'll show up as "I" for the receiver. It sure is annoying, but you're fine.

I don’t think so. I’m seeing the weird symbols when the OP types, and on Facebook I see a lot of it.

Oh then idk. I tested it with my sister's Samsung S8, and she said she saw "I." Maybe you only see it on older devices that's not the X on 11.1?

My girlfriend both starting exhibiting this bug this afternoon. Hers randomly started working normal. Mine I had to create a text replacement but even that has stopped working. Might use gboard for now until apple patches the bug.

I see this a lot on social media. I don’t know how people don’t see it when they type.

Yesterday my friend who also uses iOS 11.1 mentioned that every time he types 'I' it becomes some weird 'A ?' with a box around the question mark overlaid on the 'X' for the autocorrect popup bubble.

I thought he was crazy.

Then, today, out of nowhere... it started happening to me!!

What the hell is this???
[doublepost=1509828234][/doublepost]I’m getting it
I’m getting it too. I have an iPhone 7, and it’s updated to iOS 11.1 (or whatever the latest is). I️ have to choose the upper case “I” from the predictive text every time I type it or I get this “box” or “A” or question mark...Annoying as hell.

I'm having the same issue on my iPhone 8. A workaround is to just turn off predictive text, but it's certainly annoying. It shows up in all apps (and even sends the weird character on mail and gchat). It seems to be tied to your iCloud account, because i see those weird characters on my iMac, although i cannot actually type in that character from the iMac.

If you restore and don't sign in to iCloud, the issue goes away, but that's obviously unsustainable. I've been on the phone with AppleCare for a long while at this point...
[doublepost=1509411183][/doublepost]I should mention that i know 2 other people who are having this issue.

How did you fix this issue? I️ have the same problem and I️ can’t fix it

I have an iPhone 7, running 11.0.3

Whenever the keyboard opens up the first recommended word for predictive text is "A [?]" except the bracketed ? is what shows up when you don't have a new emoji and someone sends it to you. I have tried a hard reboot, resetting the keyboard, turning off predictive text/ autocorrect, and have checked to make sure that is isn't in the text replacement menu. When I type the letter "I" it autocorrects to A [?]. I don't know what else to do at this point. I reset all settings and it still isn't resolved. I attached an image for reference. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

My iPhone (7 Plus with iOS 11.1) is doing the same thing. This is obviously a bug that Apple needs to resolve. It’s very annoying.

I appreciate your help. I tried it and then... the same thing that's been happening on my computer texts is now happening. HAHAHA
It only happens in emails though? weird!

I was going through the same thing and found a fix. If you go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement - and then press the “+” in the top right hand corner you can just enter “I “ as the phrase and “I “ again as the shortcut. This works for me so far!

Hope it helps
[/QUO
[doublepost=1509835234][/doublepost]ok!! I got it. I had originally had "Phrase: I" and "Shortcut: I" - now I have it as -- "Phrase: I" and "Shortcut: i" :) That works

The spell checker and auto correct has been somewhat iffy when I upgraded from iOS 10 to iOS 11.
I’m not a terrible speller, but I have used google more than ever to check word spelling when I upgraded to iOS 11.

Even word “iffy” is not being properly recognized as proper word as I type it out. So I’m doubting my self half the time with many words. Thought it was just me, but I’m glad I’m not alone.
