Are people still spouting the double press nonsense? Because you most certainly do not.

Click the home button with something other than your finger. Then place your finger over the button without pressing. The phone will unlocked to home since the button was already pressed at some point during that session.

The settings and Messages apps were two that came to mind. Just in b1 and on an upgrade and a clean install. It was very slight but do you remember the status bar sometimes being off screen? Well, the bottom of a page also rendered off screen, as well, it's just harder to notice since the status bar is always static in those apps.
No...I cannot remember this. Only thing I can remember is sometimes top status bar in conversation sometimes loses its white overlays and I can see messages while scrolling.
For settings app, I don't even see anything unusual.

This was seen in beta 1. The behavior went away in the current build. Anyway, I doubt it meant anything. The status bar still disappears a lot for me especially in messages then reappears for whatever reason. Hmm thanks for reminding me need to submit a report for the last text sent vanishing from the screen bug I've been getting.

So if you had to press 4 buttons to unlock your phone you would be fine with it.Got it
I believe he has no desire to unlock his iPhone by "pressing FOUR buttons". However I still fail to understand why 3D Touch is designed to let us "tap less".

With something other than finger - that's intuitive

Right, oversimplified and losely connected hypothetical hyperboles deflecting from one thing to another...that all sure demonstrates something (just not what some might think).

The home button, was for your finger, now for your finger and knuckles! It's the future

Which proves nothing, I mean, this does not mean 3D Touch is designed for "reducing a number of navigational steps".
No matter, iPhone 7 home button would probably be 3D Touch equipped. You can use that one, and stop complaining again.
Lol thats like the only good use of 3d touch

Just look at the number of finger taps reduced

Pressing home button without finger to eliminate double tap

No, I'm explaining that at any point you can lay your finger after pressing once (even if the phone doesn't unlock) and it will open the phone without a successive press.
You can press to turn on the display, not lift your finger, and it will unlock as it always did - without a second press.

You never have to double press the home button.

I find some of the behavior here quite childish. Before you jump all over the place, perhaps understand the situation.

^ that is not always true in case of 12.9, only sometimes (if wakened/unlocked recently) but with SE it is,
(Pressing lock button or home button with finger to wake, have to press again in a lot of instances on tablet)

Maybe a bug?

That is especially annoying if you use an iPad without a Passcode/Touch ID and the Smart Cover. Until now you just opened up the Smart Cover and were on the home screen, but now after opening your Smart Cover you have to press the Home button to get to the home screen....

Especially annoying if your holding your iPad in Portrait mode with your hands on the side and opening it up like a book...

Good video, but still, I fail to see the tester's tap is fewer after using 3D Touch, in some cases they are fewer though.
Hmm, maybe I should not stick into the original intention of introducing 3D Touch but my personal experience tells me this thing does not actually save me a lot of time.
Maybe you can tell me how many taps that tester has saved, between normal taps and 3D Touch.

This is probably one more case where iOS 9 behaviour is better than iOS 10 behaviour, when unlocking devices.

Mine doesn't, unless I press the button again. iPhone 6. Guess it's a bug.
