Not at all. Technology moves forward. I work with my XDR. If in a year or two something better comes along I’ll be happy and get that. Technology is a tool we use to accomplish something. It constantly improves and that is what makes it great.
Im holding off I would be pretty pist myself. it seems dated since miniLED is on the doorstep.

Has anybody noticed brightness creep with their XDR's? I run mine on the P3-500 preset, typically at full brightness, and sometimes throughout the day it'll start feeling too bright. When I turn it down one notch, it feels too dim, so I turn it back up to full and it's suddenly back to feeling perfect. It seems like when it's set to full, the brightness gradually creeps higher throughout the day and then resets if you turn it down and back up.

If a miniLED version of the XDR were released and it was dramatically superior to the existing I would probably sell the old and get the new.

Meanwhile, I’ve been staring at the screen

i haven’t noticed this but I have felt like I noticed some amount of ambient light adjustment from the screen.

Separately, the long sleep to wake issues seem to have been mitigated. I do not know what changed to resolve it.

Has anyone seen or heard of XDR display with dead pixel or display issues? I am asking because I wonder if $500 AppleCare is worth it. Thank you!

Does the XDR ever go on sale ? I am contemplating replacing 2 LG 5K 27" Ultrafine with one XDR. This will sacrifice some real estate, built in camera (but already own the Logitech 4K) and built in sound, but I had it with the LG issues of image retention and other annoyances.

It was in polish mediamarkt. Promo was active on special hours only :) I think few days if buy XDR and promo was gone. Then in next 2-3 days it appears again. After my purchase xdr is sold out (they probably had only one ?).

I use XDR mostly for software development

My desk setup:

Ergotron LX Series Desk Mount Arm.
Don’t have any problems with this arm and quality is very good. I was thing about HX version but XDR is not heavy enough for it.
Do you have any problems getting the arm level? I have a humanscale m8.1 and there’s quite a bit of play in the mechanism. I had to shove some cloth in to keep it from moving

No, you have screws and you can modify how hard arm move.

I finally got mine all set up how I want it. I'm currently running it from a 16GB/512GB M1 MBP which seems to handle it very well. My new job requires me to use a locked-down base model (5300M) 16" MBP so I've got the Blackmagic eGPU just in case it struggles to power the XDR.
Beautiful desktop. Can I ask you a couple of questions? I’ve never read this thread before so I’m not sure people can ask about the elements on the desktops...

First, is that chair available outside the US? In Europe? I’m looking for a good, comfortable, healthy chair but not very expensive. Not saying that chair looks cheap, but it definitely looks comfortable.

Secondly, about the LED stripe, I’d like to attach a similar one to my table. How do you power it? Do you plug it to a wall socket? Is the mac, or any other USB connector, capable of powering that LED stripe? Thank you.

Thanks! The chair is a Herman Miller Mirra. They've released an updated version of it now. I'm in Australia and it's available here so I'd say it's almost certainly available across Europe.

The LED strip is the Philips Hue Strip. I wanted to keep the desktop as clear as possible so this seemed like a good option to add ambient lighting in the evenings. It's just powered via a small power block. You do of course need the Hue bridge to control it but I bought a starter kit a couple of years ago.

I understand that M1-based machines are not compatible with BlackMagic eGPUs.
