Are there any particular drawbacks or dislikes that any of you have with the XDR display? I’m thinking of buying one and am curious if there are areas that you wish it were better. Thanks!!
My only complaint is pricing, other than that the XDR display (Nano coating + stand) works really well with my mac mini.

My stand finally shipped after sitting in 'Preparing for Shipment' for about a month. Display still has 'Arrives 02/06/2022 - 16/06/2022' as its status.
Awesome! I’m in a very similar boat. If the stand was part of the same order as the display that’s very encouraging…

The only downside for me is that it only has one input and it's Thunderbolt 3 which means it's basically a monitor that is meant to be used with a single Mac, and nothing else.

If you ever think you might randomly want to use a Windows or Linux PC for a bit... well, you're locked in. My PC does work with the XDR, but it's very flaky.

The screen itself is still absolutely incredible though, and even after 18 months of owning it I haven't seen anything that comes close (apart from the much smaller MacBook XDR screen)

My second Pro Display XDR has finally changed to 'Preparing to ship' status. Ordered 28 March 2022. The stand arrived a couple of weeks ago.

Did not expect Pro Display XDR were back-ordered like this. Last I was at 5th Ave, they were in stock, for the glossy.

Yep, I want one so badly but it's hard for me to justify paying $7k for the same combo as yours. I'm a veteran pro designer but still too much $$$. If the same combo was in the $3.5k, I could consider it.

You can keep an eye on the local second-hand marketplace, it's possible to get the monitor for $3.5k.

I ordered yesterday. Expected 22 July - 4 august. I called today as the order isn’t appearing under my Apple ID (known fault apparently) but I asked why so long. Advisor told me they are manufactured to order which is why they have such a long lead time. I was kinda shocked but maybe for a product which doesn’t sell millions it makes sense not to have lots of stock sitting in a warehouse?

You might check at Best Buy. I was just able to purchase an open box glossy Pro Display XDR for $4k. It was in excellent condition. Amazing display!

I mean if it was sitting in a warehouse it would be much quicker. And I’m not sure there are any issues now with freight coming here. Also checked for the US store it’d still take the same time suggesting that is in face the case that they are being manufactured in batches, to order.

It has to do with the storage on Truck Drivers in the West because of high diesel prices!

The XDR arrived today from my order placed back on April 23rd. Definitely within the delivery window I was given of June 10-24. It was a long wait but wow - I’m blown away! Coming from a 24” 4K Ultrafine so sitting in front of this monster still feels a bit crazy, but it feels like so much more of a natural extension of the built-in Macbook Pro XDR.

Also I’ve had the stand sitting here in that big box for over a month now, it’s nice to finally put it to use :)

So no new pro display to speak of, despite some rumblings. I suspect we won’t see something now until the headset drops.

I think Apple will want to try having people use those as their new “high end display.”

The XDR will be where stuff for use in the goggles will be designed. If anything after the goggles, the display might get a pro motion treatment.

On another note, I posted this in another thread but I’m considering dropping my maxed 2018 Mac mini + egpu setup and my 2018 MBA for a single maxed M2 air.

This would be then my docked driver for the XDR and my portable.

Curious if any of the recent hardware releases, such as the Max Studio have been adopted by XDR folks or if people are sticking w what they had before and still waiting for what comes next.

I got a maxed out Mac Studio Ultra and just added an XDR last week for my main display. Have 3 extra Studio Displays on their way for my side displays. Used to have a 6,1 Mac Pro and the Studio wipes it and pretty much everything else to date out of the water.

My estimated delivery is 22.07 to 03.08 but today the XDR has gone to “preparing to ship” does this mean it’s gonna arrive sooner ?

Are you sure it isn't just the stand? The stands often ship immediately and can be easily confused with the monitor itself.

Wow, have you run GB on the new machine? How do you like those speakers, are those from the Cube era?

I'd like to see our full setup once its in place.

Yeah, the funny thing is those Soundsticks from long ago still sound as good as anything out there. Also still using a mx500 mouse as it still feels better than anything else I’ve tried since. Just looked, the MX500 came out in 2002. Lol

Mine actually disappeared a few weeks after. I hadn’t had a chance to take it into the store yet, and the day I finally had time to pack it up and take it, I couldn’t find the spot! At least Apple has a record of me reporting it if it comes back, but I haven’t had the problem since.
So, unfortunately mine has come back. Not sure how to fix it.
