APN= access point name......carrier/ wifi etc...

APNs= Apple push notification service.

Our problem prolly lies with APNs.

Not sure if email push issue is fixed, or signing out and back in to my iCloud account helped, but notifications are back!
Ever since this issue began a few weeks ago, all of us have seen periods where push notifications worked but all these were short lived.

I'd say if the push notifications start to consistently and constantly work for at least a day I would then get excited.

I have to say the glass-half-full part of me is almost thankful for this issue as I would have otherwise remained using Apple's default Mail app and would never have known what I was missing.

Whoever recommended the EMAIL mail ios app, I cannot thank you enough. I don't think I would have ever tried 3rd party email apps if it wasn't for this problem we're all having now.

Even if Apple fixes this, I honestly cannot see myself going back to their mail app. The EMAIL app is superb. I love the snooze feature (reminding me to attend to an email at a later user-defined date/time) and categorizing mail for easy filtering and search. Also the undo is awesome, I've already used it a couple of times since yesterday.

Not to mention that not only am I now getting consistent push email on iCloud and outlook.com accounts but my Gmail is now push as well. I haven't yet tried the in-app package tracking feature but I'm looking forward to that too.

The only concerns that remain are whether this app will have a noticeable impact on battery life and also I wish Apple allowed third party mail apps to be the default, as in when I click on an email link in Safari or Notes or whatever app, it asks me to download Apple's own Mail app - it's an inconvenience.

Failing to both my iPhone 7+ and iPad right now

Ready for some confusion...?

Over the last 3 weeks, I have not experienced a single issue on my iPad Air 2. Only my 7Plus. My GF has not experienced this issue on her iPad 2, only her iPhone 7. BUT my brother-in-law has experienced it on his iPad and Phone.

Too bad my iPad is WiFi only. I would carry it around.

Well it's not wifi or LTE because both devices fail on both.

I know. It's not all devices and it's not data specific. But it effects all iOS versions. It's so complicated and confusing.
I know. What's confusing things even more is it started after ios10 came out and people thinks that's the problem. Fails on all os

Not pushing still. Worse still, it's not even fetching now even though it's set to 15 mins. Really frustrating this

Maybe I'm losing my mind....

Every two hrs or so, push works. Then two hours of failed push. The "EMAIL" app continues to push without delay.

WTF Apple?

I'm starting to believe that apple is throttling the flow of data through their servers!

Just now at 2125hrs Eastern time, an email came through on IP7+, Ipadpro and macmini within a milisecond of each other! Just like the old days:)

I believe it does because it keeps that constant connection. A third party app will update if you read, send or delete messages without launching the app, unlike Mail which only updates that if the app itself is open. Thats why I havent started using one yet.
I think you are correct about 3rd party mail client and battery drain. My battery took a beating today. Looks like the EMAIL app was the culprit (top of the list in battery usage).

Funny thing is I didn't even open it very often. Looking closer at the usage and it appears to be mostly from the app's background activity. Interestingly I have background app refresh disabled so the app must have its own override to keep some sort of constant connection. Oh well, back to using the default mail app for now. Hopefully Apple is working towards fixing this soon.

I wish mine was doing that. I just tested; nothing being pushed at the moment to my phone.

Edit: It's now pushing like the old days. We'll see how long this lasts.

Bleck.. Okay I think I will avoid it and continue using fetch. Fetch is definitely using more battery, but sounds like less than what the 3rd party app is.

Started using Spark because of that issue, and because it's only affecting the iOS Mail app it seems, and I don't regret it. Spark doesn't seems to be a battery drainer, too.

If you are missing important emails, I strongly suggest you to switch to another client, as it look that this issue is not going to be fixed anytime soon...

Would you believe it...the same thing that's happening with iCloud email is now happening for me with both iMessage and SMS messages (no/intermittent notification when device is off, notification when device is on, works on the Mac) on both my iPad and iPhone both running iOS 10.1.

The message thing started for me this afternoon several hours ago. A friend of mine said he noticed it too. His is back up and running. Mine isn't.

EDIT: allegedly, the notification for messages only on the active device is a new feature.

I've started getting iMessage problems too this morning. Not coming through to the phone but seem to be ok on the iPad. WTF?!?!?
Never had so many issues.
