that's not an ifixit product, it's just a commodity replacement panel you can buy from China. And they're terrible.
What do you think iFixit is? All they do is slap their logo on commodity parts.

I suppose that’s a viable option if I’m still trying to minimize phone usage. You could get the next SE which is rumored to be 4.7" (i.e. the same design as this one).
Nope, because the back is shatteredWill Apple service your 8 Plus to fix the issues?
Do they not offer a fix for the broken glass back? How would it work if someone had AC+?Nope, because the back is shattered
I believe they simply replace the entire phone.Do they not offer a fix for the broken glass back? How would it work if someone had AC+?
So if he chose that option, would they charge the full cost of the device?I believe they simply replace the entire phone.
No you pay out of warranty replacement cost which is $399 U.S.So if he chose that option, would they charge the full cost of the device?
At this point that is more than the value of the phone. No you pay out of warranty replacement cost which is $399 U.S.
Out of curiosity did you consider any of the Galaxy phones? I can’t recall your experience with those, but if I remember correctly a few did give you headaches as well.Picked up a Moto for $264 at T-Mobile. Another $10 for a case + screen protector and I’m good to go. Gonna rock this with my 8+ for the next year or 2. At that time I’m going to Verizon (my daughter will be in high school then, and her school is a T-Mobile dead zone)
I like Moto because it’s pure stock android. Moto phones also have the best battery life of any phone. On Tom’s guide, I think 8 out of the top 15 phones are Motorola.Out of curiosity did you consider any of the Galaxy phones? If you’re willing to step over to Android and pay a little more you can get a more premium smartphone with a LCD display as well. There’s one by Sony that got rave marks but I don’t remember the model off the top of my head. Samsung will also offer $350 trade-in for an 8+ last I checked.
In a year or two t-mobile may have coverage there.Picked up a Moto for $264 at T-Mobile. Another $10 for a case + screen protector and I’m good to go. I’m near Minneapolis which does have 5GIn a year or two t-mobile may have coverage there.![]()
No subsidy, it was $264 plus tax for the 128/6gb model. Keep in mind that ram on android is nothing like iOS. The flagship android phones have 12-16 gb lol. 6gb is considered midrange right nowUnderstood. The specs on paper look great, especially for the price. Plus 5G. Let me know how you like it. Was $264 subsidized by T-Mobile?
No wonder Apple was considering releasing an iPhone SE Plus with 5G.
It’s too bad iPhone SE didn’t work out for you. I’m beginning to like it as a phone, and the LCD display does look vibrant and adequately sharp overall. Apple won’t build a bad phone, even if it’s a budget model. In fact I’m impressed they even went a step further and made improvements over iPhone 8.
I'm glad you've managed to hone in on the device that's going to work for you after the rollercoaster of failed options.Picked up a Moto for $264 at T-Mobile. Thanks man. Crazy world where the only reason we don’t have the flagship phone is our eyes, not our wallets lol. Gutted as you guys would sayI'm glad you've managed to hone in on the device that's going to work for you after the rollercoaster of failed options.
Fingers crossed for iPhone 13 changes......
Perfectly put. It’s one thing to want something you can’t afford. It’s another to have the means and the desire, only to be part of a small percentage whose eyes won’t cooperate. I try so hard to be positive but I have to say, I have zero reason to think the 13 series will be any different. Thanks man. LTPO would be promising since it essentially made the PWM amplitude as flat as possible on Apple Watch if Samsung didn’t release the S21 Ultra which has the same conventional PWM implementation on its LTPO OLED.Perfectly put. I don’t expect anything to help us for several years now. Not until it’s cheap enough to do. At this point it’s not costing them money, so they won’t change to “help” anyone outLTPO would be promising since it essentially made the PWM amplitude as flat as possible on Apple Watch if Samsung didn’t release the S21 Ultra which has the same conventional PWM implementation on its LTPO OLED.
Just returns, which has a cost but they still likely make a net profit once they refurbish the phone to use for warranty/resale purposes.I don’t expect anything to help us for several years now. I had that same feeling. It feels “old” even though it’s not. Getting something at launch has a special feelingThe display is honestly really good on iPhone SE. During the day the black level is almost as inky as an OLED.
My only holdup is if iPhone 13 was to fix PWM then I’d have to pay more to upgrade and I’d lose having a trade-in. I do like this phone enough over the 8+ to keep it, I just wish I had purchased it sooner.
How is it not old? It's over a year old and the processor is over a year and a half old. Nothing wrong with buying one, but IMO, Apple should have dropped the price by 100 bucks, or at least 50 bucks, after a year. Instead they removed the power brick effectively increasing the price by 30 bucks or whatever it costs to buy a power brick.I had that same feeling. It feels “old” even though it’s not. If it launched at $499 I agree. At $399, I feel like if it dropped any more it could affect their “brand”. Like it or not, an iPhone is still a status symbol to the vain people out there.
