winpwn ver. 2.0.0.1 RC1 running on 32 bit Vista. When I run IPSW Builder I just get the error "Failed to create custom IPSW".

I've tried deleting every last scrap of Winpwn and re-installing, after seeing some comments on another website I've even tried creating an IPSW without
Cydia but it's made no difference.

Any ideas?

Hey, please help, I royally f***** this up. I followed the steps in the tutorial using a 1.1.3 jailbroken iPhone (Big mistake :/ ). After having pwned it, bootneuter did not start up, and Itunes gave me the error message "The iphone "iphone" cannot be used with itunes because information required for activation could not be obtained from the iphone"

I have tried DFU it, and restore it with the normal 1.1.4 firmware, but this gives me the error 1600. I have tried restoring it normally through itunes (to 2.0 i think) but after this I got the same "phone cannot be used with itunes" error message I got before.

Please help me. I have tried for hours and hours to get this to work. I would really appreciate any help.

Best Regards,
FO

Update: I've tried connecting it to my windows itunes program, but that doesn't even see my phone. Nothing comes up on iTunes.

I've now also tried restoring different firmware versions, 1.1.4 and 1.1.3 and some custom pwnage ones, but I've recieved errors (6) and (20) from itunes. And also 1604. Have I bricked my iPhone? Can I fix it?

Edit: In case anyone is having the same problem and finds this post: Problem solved here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?p=327249#post327249

I would suggest to the mods re-sticking this thread to the top of the forum as lots of people have posted questions already answered in this thread and it is up to date with 2.0 pwnage information.

I helped out FoCelestial on Hackint0sh where incidently this thread is stickied to the top of the pwnage forum!

This thread should be sticked. The reason for being unstickied was that you left for a while and info became old. Maybe if you write a PM to the mod who stickied your thread the first time might sticky it again?

I don't know who stickied it in the first place or unstickied it!

Do you know any mods? or maybe they will read this and just re-stick it lol!

I have one of the very first 1st generation iphones...unlocked and all that.48 or something. I had to put a chip in it to work with my sim. Right now it is at 1.1.2. I was just wondering if I could upgrade to 2.0 =)

thanks if anyone knows.

Yes, you can update to 2.0, just follow the steps in this guide regarding Pwnage tool. It will be a breeze.

Need some HELP, please

I jailbroke my 1G phone running 2.0 Software and used it for a week - no problems worked fine w/out any issue. I had the phone Jailbroken and unlocked using the Pwnagetool and the directions been given.

I got "lucky" and found a buyer for my phone as I decided to go with the 3G.

Before sending the iPhone out to the new owner, I did a reset: "Erase All Content and Settings" - this was about 2h ago. The phone started with the normal Apple logo and a bar underneath showing progress of (what I thought was) deleting content. That finished w/in 30 min. Then the phone came up with the Pinapple logo - first with the circle over it showing it was processing but now it only shows the pineapple.. sitting there for 1.5h now..

Should I be just continue to be patient? What's going on?

Would appreciate any (constructive) advise!

Thx

I did exactly the same thing!

I sold it on ebay and did a secure erase and it did what you said.

The phone did its thing and then the pineapple logo and spinning wheel appeared and it didn't go away!

I think the "disk wipe" function has been turned off by pwnage.

And so your phone is now stuck on the boot screen permanently until you restore it!

You will have to manually put the phone into restore mode and restore with the custom 2.0 firmware.

As long as you don't restore from any back up or sync any data it will be nice and empty!

It was tricky to get restore mode for me it took me several attempts!

You are looking for the russian writing and steve jobs to pop up!

Hold the home and power button until the phone resets then hold only the home button with it connected to itunes.

It is difficult so keep at it and you will get restore mode and restore and be back to good as new very quickly!

You have to use pwnagetool 1.0 or 1.1 to jailbreak/unlock 1.1.4.

Pwnagetool 2 is ONLY compatable with firmware 2.0.

I skipped reading the guide this time and just went ahead using PwnageTool 2.0.1. It was really simple and I had no issues.

Hi,

I've got a question for the iPhone experts.
While I have succesfully unlocked both 1.1.4 and 2.0 using Pwnage, I'm not really sure whether I'm doing it the right way.

For instance, since firmware 2.0.1 was just released, I would like to upgrade using pwnage. So far I've always used expert mode in order to keep the Apple logo- leaving all other settings as they are. Now I remember reading that one shouldn't flash the baseband too often as this will harm the phone in the longterm. Is that right? Or complete bogus?
I'm wondering whether it's necessary to unlock the baseband everytime I want to install a new firmware?

Or in other words, if I want to go from an unlocked 2.0 to 2.0.1 using pwnage what settings do I really need to check for the new custom firmware before restoring through iTunes.

- activate phone yes/no
- enable baseband update yes/no
- neuter bootloader yes/no
- unlock baseband yes/no (that's the one I'm really not sure about)

I would appreciate if someone could shed some light on the whole pwnage process so that I'm actually aware what I am doing.

Regards

Tim

You can't use Pwnage Tool 2.0.1 to repackage the Apple 2.0.1 iPhone firmware. I just tried, looks like Dev team will need to release 2.0.2 so that we can pwn 2.0.1. Confusing yet? :)

As for the baseband, do you need to unlock your phone? If not, disable Bootneuter, baseband flash, etc in Expert mode. I just want to add other apps to my phone to I only want to Pwn, not unlock so I uncheck those settings. :)

I used Pwnage to jailbreak 3G. I changed the appearance of Springboard. What are the results of upgrading to 2.0.1?

I know that it didn't flash it when I re-unlocked mine. Not sure if it hurts it or not.

Don't get confused between pwnage 2.0.1 and firmware 2.0.1.

They are different!

Pwnage 2.0.1 was an update to fix some bugs but it ONLY works with firmware 2.0.

In order to unlock or jailbreak the new firmware 2.0.1 you need to wait for an update to pwnagetool from the devteam.

They are working on it but it has not been released yet.

The DevTeam also say that updating the 3G iPhone before the update to pwnage is out MAY make it unlockable however you can update your original iPhone but you will lose the unlock and possible by re-locking the phone stop yourself from being able to use it if you do that.

So just be patient it should be out soon!

A few Qs,

1. is that worth to upgrade to firmware 2.0 on the 1st Generation (2G, not 3G phone) iPhone? any advantages?

2. My friend upgraded to 2.0 by accident, nothing was working. I managed to follow the instructions here to downgrade his phone back to 1.1.4 version, everything is working fine now, activated, unlocked, jailbroken, wi-fi, my tube, etc. I used ZiPhone to unlock the phone, there is no bootneuter installed.

3. While I have the phone with me, I tried to upgrage to 2.0, but failed in "unable to build custom ipsw file", can I use the custom ipsw linked here in the first post from a torrent site, and continue the process? Thanks.

Main advantages are ability to access App Store, and also support for MS Exchange and MobileMe (although for MM I'm not sure that's an advantage quite yet).
