Anyone else having this host key issue for ssh do this:

open terminal

navigate to /users/yourusername/.ssh

type: rm known_hosts

Did you set all the folder permissions, etc? Its more than just replacing the file on your phone.

Please Help, What other files do you have to set the permissions for I cannot find anything on google for the 2.1 setup, on 2.0.2 all I had to do is install the MobileInstallation file and set permissions for that. note(I did use the new file and set it to 775) The apps install but wont launch.

I just get the "The application "pick your fav app" cannot be opened"

Some Help would be great

Thanks

I also get this error

This happened to me too.

Here is what you need to do

1. Show hidden files
2. In Finder, navigate to the path stated above (/Users/lavrishevo/.ssh/) and delete the file located in .ssh folder
3. retype: ssh root@iphone ip ,and hit enter
4. Everything should be good

Wow, everyone seems to be having problems. I just did a full restore with no backup. Updated to 2.1 firmware. Installed all my apps, data, music and movies, and then used quickpwn to jailbrake my phone. Everything works great. I installed winterboard, touch springboard theme, poof, and rename. No problems- or issues. I don't understand.

(not to come off bragging)

It seems that only quickpwn is working..anyone got pwnage to work with iTunes 8.0?or anyone got anything to work with iTunes 8.0?

What's the diff between quickpwn and pwnage tool?read something about quickpwn doing something with baseband or something..i'm using a legit 3G iPhone activated by my carrier..so can I use quickpwn? Running all these on MBP and iTunes 8.0..any help would help guys..spent hours trying to jb my 2.1 iPhone 3G then restoring to original firmware cos it failed!

i have a legit iphone with ATT and the last thing I wanted it to do was screw up my phone. From everything I read about quickpwn, it just installs cydia, installer, and jailbreaks your phone. You also have the option of customizing the boot logo and recovery logo. Too easy. I actually left the default logos on, but I know if you want some other logos instead of the pineapple, you just have to "show package contents" and in the resources folder, just replace the boot/recovery logos with whatever you want. Quickpwn is the way to go. SO far no issues at all. I just jailbroke my phone for the winterboard app

pwnage works perfectly with the new intunes. it took me a time or 2 to realize that what was messing me up was my backup.also, you need to make sure you have the UPDATED 2.1 mobile installation file when you try to load ipa's. if you have all your ducks in a row, you wont have any issues.

quickpwn might be the quickest method, but the dev team says that if you ever want to unlock your 3g in the future, that you might not want to use it, as it updates the baseband. Thats just an FYI, do as you wish :)

Gotcha.. I have no plans to unlock so Yep...if you want to unlock, I guess you have to use pwnage.. I just hope that I can go back to a vanilla iphone if need be.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G (16GB, 2.1): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

Shouldn't be a problem. I used both Quickpwn and PwnageTool on my iPhone 3G (2.0.1 and 2.0.2) and I was able to upgrade to vanilla 2.1 without a problem. :)

Cool. I took what the dev team said as if you aren't trying to unlock it, you should be fine. I had used Zbri once on another phone and all I can say is...if I ever meet the loser who wrote that...so help me.

Thanks though for the info

i never had a problem with ziphone..... what was up with it....

How soon does the WinPwn comes out after QuickPwn usually ?
I can't wait...

I used quickpwn on my phone, but Cydia or Installer is not showing up? Any idea how I can get them to show up?

I'm actually still waiting on the quickpwn windows update. I went ahead and dropped my jailbreak on my phone and got the new update. Made sure to do a Shift+Restore on it and got everything set back up again. Had to go back and reset my pin again for VV to work however I didn't lose anything beyond the jailbroken stuff.

known_hosts is just a text file with a really easy to read format of an ip:key pair per line. If you desire, instead of deleting the file entirely you can open it up and only delete the ip:key pair for your iphone. This will retain the ssh keys from any other systems you may use for ssh preventing the need to regenerate additional keys.
