Apple could make it work if they wanted to - but why would they, they have iMessage and this is just forced on them by authorities. I'm not even mad, it's just a bit sad

Not sure if I mentioned this already but:

there is a new theory about why some wifi networks block RCS on iOS: IPv6 support.
If your network does not support IPv6, RCS ceases to function on iOS. I verified all work wifi networks I have trouble with and what do all of them have in common? You guessed it, they only support IPv4 (can be easily checked in the individual wifi network info panel, if there is no mention of Ipv6 it doesn‘t support it).

I tried all other wifi networks I have access to (or could access today) and every single one of them that worked shows IPv6 info, all that don‘t lack IPv6.

I‘ve updated my long standing feedback with a comment outlining this theory, let‘s see if they bother doing something about it.
if IPv6 is a requirement then it makes me wonder why Three here in the UK doesn't support RCS on iPhones yet because like EE they are a single stack IPv6 + NAT64 network also however it could be that not all Three customers get IPv6 yet only some do. The implementation that O2 is working on seems it is only for VoLTE at the moment

Is anyone based in the UK running 18.2 beta on Vodafone? Can check if there is support? I saw somewhere that Three UK supports RCS in 18.2.

No, still not supported on beta 3.

From what I hear Vodafone used to run their own RCS server, but stopped and went with Google, they are now waiting on Google to update it for iPhone support.

maybe but then thanks to EE we believe 18.2 will be out on or around the 9th so that gives them like 3 weeks so you'd think in that 3 weeks they would be testing RCS on the betas
That means nothing. Vodafone.de was absent during the whole 18.0 beta period (including RC), then on the public release date all Vodafone.de users got a carrier profile update prompt that enabled RCS for them.

These things can be pushed OTA at any time without requiring a software update.

must be when Three has given customers on 18.2 beta the toggle for RCS and EE has supported it since the early ios 18 betas
They've given their customers it because they've asked for it. My understanding is that the version of the RCS protocol used in iOS 18 is the bare minimum and lacking key features that Android users have, not only encryption but how it handles being out of connection where it will drop a person back into SMS and out of an RCS group chat.

Maybe that's fixed in later iOS18 version but I'm unaware of it being fixed yet? :)

we now know that RCS will be coming to the iPhone on December 9th for O2 customers

Hopefully for Vodafone too otherwise that would be very embarrassing for them as the only main network not to support RCS on iPhone
well they seem not to know what is going on with RCS on ios They started off blaming Google for lack of support (in a now-deleted tweet) then they said they don't support RCS at all and then they said for them to have the support they need to make "network changes" and now they just ignore questions on the topic seemingly awaiting the merger with Three
