don't mind, can someone enlighten me what was the issue with the home button?

I been looking through past post and I don't see any home button discussion?

The home button is in the centre of the bezel (width size) when holding in portrait mode but not the centre of the actual bezel when looking at the height of the bezel. It’s close to the bottom of the bezel. It’s annoying a few people (not me).

I really wish that my Mini 5 had a haptic non-mobile home button like the iPhone 7/8, instead of a physically moving button like the old iPads. I care less about it being slightly offset towards the bottom.

I think the biggest gripe about the home button being offset towards the bottom for me is that the space could have been used (as could some surrounding the front camera) to give a slightly bigger screen while still retaining bezels and the same overall footprint of the device.

I love the Mini but there is the odd task that I think that what I really want is something in between the Mini and the 9.7.

The lack of the 9.7 update really made my decision easy. No way would I buy an A10 when an A12 is out there for £80 more.

I would have bought 32GB if it had been offered and I’m only on 13GB at the moment as all I’ve really added so far is the apps that I couldn’t get before because they required more than iOS9 but from a future proofing perspective, it’s a blessing in disguise having another 51GB to play with.

Thanks. Nah it doesn't affect me. what affects me more would be the bezel!

I'm now waiting for back to school apple promo..

No different on other iPads with the button like the iPad Pros 9.7 and 10.5. It just stands out a little more because of the size of the bezels.

Man why is this an issue with people?

Because, frankly, some people are neurotic. Most people won't even notice it, let alone be bothered.

I suspect that this must be more difficult to manage on larger devices, even including the Mini, which is why no iPad, even Pro models, have ever had the (superior in my opinion) haptic home button. Scaling up the haptic engine might be difficult or costly.

I think that’s true, but also I think the wear and tear issue of the home button is mitigated quite a bit with the iOS 12 swipe up gesture (for home and recent apps) because it’s used far less frequently now. Actually, if one opts to use the power button and Hey Siri, one could get away without pressing the home button at all.

I didn't even know that you could do swipe up to get back to the home page. I only played with it in the Apple Store. So I can do this now on the Mini and the iPhone 7+.

The Mini that I'm looking for is in stock at my local Best Buy. Not all colors though. I don't have time to pick it up. Amazing that I can get it right away from BB but I have to wait two weeks from Apple. I didn't check the Apple Store to see if they have it. I'd get a better discount at the Apple Store.

Yep, for iPads since ios12 in September. Pretty convenient.

The cameras seem grainy to me. Is this just what happens using 7MP and 8MP cameras in 2019?

The rear camera is not great, but it does the job if you ever need to take a photo with your iPad. The front facing camera is actually quite good!

This is supposed to be an iPad Air mini, not the iPad Pro mini. This is just whining, make a thread about removing all other iPads and only leave the "Pro" instead. Then you'll have consistency, OP.

I absolutely hated the 2019 iPad and how buggy and slow it was. These spec bunks are welcomed.

Never noticed the home button being closer to the edge of the Mini 5 before--so it doesn't bother me. I'd go for the Space Gray than the White bezel ones because of the black border around the edge of the screen.

I'm pretty sure they fixed the mail app a while ago.

Fixed in a relative term. Nothing overly heinous now, but there are still some glitches in the inbox view like text from one preview floating over another, or deleting through emails and having one email selected and actually viewing a different one.

Still on 12. First I’ve heard of the mail issue but I think I will wait for a stable version of 14 now.

I'm still seeing plenty of people saying they're having issues with Mail and specifically with Exchange. While there's a good portion who aren't having issues with it, I still see too many with issues to get me motivated to upgrade. Though I'd like to, I'm growing tired of getting the reminders to upgrade and the constant downloads of iOS 13.3 that have to be deleted every couple of hours. It's annoying.
