my machine has got so buggy and will not print to my Epson T50 that after 50 hours of searching every Microsoft post and Epson post and everywhere else I could find I have bought an iMac quad core i5 with 8G of ram. If it's 10% slower on this test but works.... it will save me hundreds of hours a year:confused:

I'm connected to a 24" NEC monitor if that makes a difference.

MP 1.1 2x3.0GHz, 12GB RAM, 2x1TB drives (one OS and files, one scratch).

OS10.5 & CS2

History @1, Cache@3, Memory usage @ 100% (showing 3GB),

Result: 55sec.

After seeing other results from other 1.1 machines, I was expecting around 30-40 seconds. Must be CS2 slowing it down.

Just tried CS5.5 (also now with SSD for OS and cache).

New time: 27.3 sec.

Much better! :D

Photoshop Lightroom 3

Will the benchmark work with Photoshop Lightroom 3? If so, is there any change in the steps one takes to conduct the test? I have LR3 on a 12-core MacPro and on an iMAc with Windows 7 Ultimate (bootcamp).

The download link for the test gives me a 404 error. Where can the speed test be downloaded from?

Looking at the results from the beginning of this thread, we've come a heck of a long way!

I had the same problem. Just go to the domain's homepage and you'll find the download link there for both Mac and Windows: http://www.retouchartists.com/

I find it best not to ponder the staggering difference in price of these two machines when I see results like these. I'm guessing the SSD has something to do with it though.

Ohhhhh man, going from a delta of several minutes to a delta of split seconds between tests... This Photoshop action is going to have to be updated if we want to see greater differences between the results to level out the timing errors !

Running a new MacBook Pro Quad-Core, with PSCS 5, I timed 16.9 seconds twice but was a little slow hitting the stop button on my iPhone timer. I suspect a more accurate time would be 16.4 or 16.5 seconds. This is probably faster than my 2008 Mac Pro single Quad-Core can run!
