The biggest issue for me is HDR for sure. Even the 12 pro from what i have seen suffers from similar issues.
Even people here in this thread are saying “guys, your hands are crooked “, and so one.I guess it depends if the problem is software or hardware. If software then hopefully it will get fixed. If hardware then the only solution would be to sell it or talk to Apple and give them samples so maybe they would replace it. They touted the cameras as a big thing so if the camera hardware is not functioning properly shouldn't they replace it under warranty?
Raw pictures and editing on the phone? Each one for 2-3-4-5 minutes? Really? Maybe even download on desktop and edit it there? Whoa guys. Stop. It is not what iPhone for. DSLR is.
According to Apple and myself, yes it is. When ProRAW is used, your iPhone is now a mirrorless camera. ProRAW is awesome, open a photo in Lightroom edit it, creat multiple presets as you edit photos, done in 30”! Jpeg is for most people, ProRAW is for the pros or those who want more out of the iPhone & the photos they take. Editing a photo on the iPhone or iPad doesn’t take 5 minutes. Just remember, photography is an art, people love to get creative, just check out the iPhone 13 pro on Instagram. Sure there are snaps, but there are also some really great shots that iPhone photographers get when they take their time. If you are a random jpeg shooter who doesn’t mind blown highlights and average composition, cool! More power to you. I want more from my iPhone’s photos, like this edit done in Lightroom via one of my saved presets. Question: why do people buy a pro iPhone if photography is of no interest to you?I have two cameras. One of them MarkII with plenty of optics.
But I specifically bought this iPhone to take good quality pictures, better than XR, not worse (not always, sometimes, especially autofocus and sharpening issues).
Now I’m very confused, what should I do.
Try to return (how?), law forbids returning gadgets if it works properly.
Sell it and buy 11pm? Maybe.
Wait for 15.4. For how long? There was not 15.3 released yet. And I’ve installed beta 15.3. No fixes.
Too bad new year gift for myself. Annoying thoughts about it for almost a week, and still no solution.

What's is point of this? Vastly different lighting and different lens.Another great thing of the connected-global world that we live-in: most of us had visited the same places and took the same pictures. Example below iPhone XS (Taken by myself on September, 2019) and iPhone Pro 13 from the MR thread:

All of these are normal. How could expect same sharpness from edge to edge?Very good question. However, if you look carefully at the pictures posted in the https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-max-photos-up-thread-worldwide-2021.2312792/ thread, and focus on the outdoor, wide lens (not close-ups, night mode, indoors that perform better in most of the situations) you will see exactly the same issue across.
I had yet to see an outdoor picture taken with good light that's correctly focused.

You can also find examples of the wrong lens selected by the iOS like the second squirrel in post #1024 or the in-plane picture in the post #951

Nothing is baked in!!! Use the Moment app from now on then in either jpeg or raw. It produces different results. Instead of complaining, try something different or go get another XR…I want at least the same sharpness and overall quality of photos as my old XR do in good light conditions.
Am I asking too much?
Want to play with proRaw for yourself - up to you. Why not? But it has baked in post processing.
Raw - that’s what using photo professionals
Exactly. LiDAR autofocus is bad in some specific cases, and they disabled or removed old, tested functionality.A few days ago I tried to cover LiDAR hole, Camera app can’t focus on anything even in good light condition, sometimes.
Maybe this is the cause of slightly out of focus pictures, which is why iPhone 13 don’t have this problem.
Over-sharpening is indeed software cause rather than hardware.
And what size is one? 25mb. Bad option for everyday photo, unfortunately.According to my testing on 13 pro, in most circumstances Proraw with camera app is the best option.
But:
The Telephoto lense with bad lighting or ANYTIME INDOOR, giving much better results with Moment app.
Only the Telephoto lense!
Personally I have no problem with Proraw. And what size is one? 25mb. Bad option for everyday photo, unfortunately.
Today I was shooting many videos.
And videos are amazing. Photos, shot right after the video in the same room are much worse.
Dark, unnatural colors, oversaturated.
It just depends on your style and level of photography. You can’t speak for everyone by saying it’s a bad option for photos. If it’s not a keeper, then delete it later. Keep your photos organized. There is a separate folder for raw in photos like there is a screen shot and panorama etc. I shoot raw exclusively because I want the best photo possible. I also have the 1TB iPhone, plenty of space. The videos, raw photos, and regular photos don’t take up as much space as you think. My 12 pro max is a 512mb and with all the photos and videos I’ve taken, I still have 390gb available. But if your not a specialized photographer then you really shouldn’t complain so much.. just saying. (funny how so many on this thread are complaining about the quality of the camera of the 13 pro yet unwilling to try other apps or ProRAW to improve their photos).. LOL.And what size is one? 25mb. For me I’m leaving the Apple app as is and the “go to” for snapshots. I’m even warming up to ProRaw now that I see you can crank back some processing afterward. So the Apple app stays stock without me messing with it. However for manual shots I use Halide. I like it because it’s simple and manual. With the loupe I can nail focus and be sure of it. Select lenses and no switching - etc. so all manual here. For post processing I selected Darkroom and deleted all the others. That is my workflow for still photos now.It just depends on your style and level of photography. You can’t speak for everyone by saying it’s a bad option for photos. It’s ALWAYS possible to fix white balance if you shoot rawSometimes white balance is not possible to fix.
From other phones same scene looks natural.
Solution is only:
- wait for update
- ditch the phone
Not in stock camera app. It’s ALWAYS possible to fix white balance if you shoot raw
Well, most photographers pay thousands FOR THE OPTION to shoot raw and edit in Lightroom… me included. Not in stock camera app.
And… galaxy Why should I shoot in raw in 2k $ phone to fix incorrect WB? What else? Manually try to remove garbage post processing?
Thanks, but no ))
I can by android for that
I’ve paid. Long time ago. I have Canon markII and optics from 16 to 200. So what? It takes much time to process.Well, most photographers pay thousands FOR THE OPTION to shoot raw and edit in Lightroom… me included.
On my 13pm looks exactly the sameIf your shoot proraw you getting good photos even without editing
