Did they release the Magic Keyboard separate from an iPad update/annoucement? I can’t remember if it was a stand-alone release.

Just trying to make a counter argument to the people saying Apple wouldn’t release an accessory without an iPad update at the same time.

Yeah I seriously doubt Apple will announce just an Apple Pencil without iPads. I'd bet good money new iPads will also be announced. Mark this post 😉

I seriously doubt Apple will announce just an Apple Pencil, some iPad and a only a few Macs. I'd bet good money on all new Macs will also be announced to blow away the holiday season numbers. Mark this post.

Hooray! Everything is about to be updated this month!!! ;)

Joking aside: it still seems plausible that a couple of iPads and maybe an M2 iMac could actually be announced this month or so. If so, a few accessories like this pencil does make sense to roll out too.

I actually believe SOMETHING will be announced- probably via press release- this month or early next... and I'd bet on an iPad or two AND an M2 iMac update. Anything (left) to juice up the holiday revenue and those products seem to be what is "left."

The iMac seems quite shaky with nearly no rumors this deep into October... but updating iMac with "the latest silicon from Apple. Buy now!" makes great sense to me... especially if the wonder product in the first quarter is also going to roll out with M2 as announced.

I foresee no scenario where Apple would launch a sole M3 Mac this far ahead of the wonder product and basically undermine the rest of the Mac lineup for the holiday season. If me and I'm interested in any other Mac, that screams "WAIT!" instead of "Buy now" in the most lucrative time of the year. An M2 iMac spins the proposition that "now ALL Macs are up to date with our latest & greatest hardware."

Sort of. They announced it the same day as the 2020 iPad Pros, but those were the smallest updates ever - all they did was change the cameras and thermal management, and enabled an extra GPU core on the SOC while giving all tiers 6GB of RAM (previously only the 1TB had that)

Personally, I would like a slightly smaller version. I like the one they have now, but wtf.
Interchangeable tips is nice, textures.

Nice arty stuff. Also rumor stuff, as this one is sort of out there.

Why announce a new accessory if the device it is made for won’t be out for several months?

why in god's name would they release an updated apple pencil divorced from an associated iPad update?

lmaooooooo people just out here saying anything to get posted on here.
Because a new pencil that has considerable benefit would help those who require that function. Why should they buy an entirely new iPad just to get the pencil?

People whine about Apple bringing out new gear…just for $’s and when they bring out something new, without the extra requirement, they still whine.

When Apple announced the Magic Keyboard Folio, it came along side the major revision of the base iPad (2022). When Apple announced the Magic Keyboard Case, it came along side a minor spec bump to the iPad Pro (2020). When they revised the Apple Pencil, it came along side a major redesign of the iPad Pro (2018). When Apple announced the original Apple Pencil, it came along side the release of the original iPad Pro (2015).

I'm sure there are exceptions out there but it is uncommon for Apple to release new accessories without at least pairing it with a minor hardware revision for the main product it is built to complement. Often it is paired with a major revision to the main product.

This rumor is just not very likely to be true in sum total.

I mean, if they pair it with a minorly refreshed iPad Air and Mini, that would work.

I'm surprised Tim hasn't tried making a few more millions by simply offering the Apple Pencil in multiple colours - white, midnight, and starlight.
I bet pencil is still a fairly niche product, mainly bought by devoted note takers and graphic designers/artists.

people laughing at a lightning pencil connected to the iPad sticking out are the same people praising a pencil connected via usb-c the same way.

so stupid.

Let's not forget the female to female adapter. So much for reducing e-waste.

Isn't this the same blog that said the iMac would be getting the M2 and not the M3?

I want different calligraphy pen tips

i think this a fake rumor for Apple to get feedback on exactly what kind of tips people would buy
That could work. So long as they do something as innovative and desirable as Remarkable (a pen that never needs to charge) I’ll be happy.

The next iPad Pro needs to have a landscape FaceTime camera. If this happens the Apple Pencil will need to be remade. This in itself will be justification enough for this next gen product. Extra tips aside. However frankly I’m waiting for the alleged color sampling Apple Pencil in patents Apple has been toying with. Gen 4 perhaps? The color sample camera which would be on the butt end of the pencil and could be recessed underneath a rubberized domed shroud could also be used as old school blunt stylus for more casual taping and scrolling if not drawing as the pokey end isn’t so favorable for that imo and also activate an eraser mode if drawing. This is the pencil I want
