I went through all my pictures of the past few years and made a few into ipad backgrounds. I'd post a preview here but I'm tired (it's 5am here :) ). Funny how 2048x2048 is almost full resolution with a 10mp dSLR :)

(edit)hmm... on my ipad those images are coming up as 1024x1024 although from the computer it loads 2048x2048. Until I figure this out you'll have to download them from the computer and email them to yourself to get them on ipad. Sorry about that. If anyone has ideas let me know.

(edit2)looks like the 2048x2048 showing on ipad as 1024x1024 is happening with a lot of the images on here. Not quite sure why.

I have the same problem. It's like the iPad degrades the quality of any non-stock wallpaper.

A lot of the wallpapers being posted here don't seem high resolution to me. Look like they have just been upscaled to 2048x2048, compared to some of the wallpapers on InterfaceLIFT they are blurry as hell.

Put this wallpaper on your iPad and look how razor sharp it is, that's what it should look like!

False advertising :( most of them aren't high res at all! The Immortals one was particularly blurry.

This is one I've redone from a popular iPhone wallpaper several months ago.

So looking at my user name this might not come as a shocker -- but any retina University of Texas images out there? I found one that's around 1900x1600, but I want one that's retina-quality.

Let's make this happen fellow longhorn fans/austinites!

Any Red Sox ones? I'd like this one turned into a retina wallpaper if at all possible:

From what I see, a lot (most) images on here are 72 pixels per inch. They should be at least 264 pixels per inch.

still doesn't work. Made one of my images 264ppi and it still shows as 1024x1024. Last night (well I guess this morning) I was comparing ones that did show up as 2048x2048 to mine and others that were 1024x1024 and couldn't figure out the difference. The 2048x2048 ones are 72ppi as well.

How come when I open these images on my iPad they say 1024x1024?

I think it's just a display bug in safari. I loaded up one of my images. In safari it says 1024x1024. I copy the image and emailed it to myself. I opened that on my computer and its 2048x2048. Still doesn't explain why some images will indeed say 2048x2048 in safari.

For the 49ers fans!. (For the record...there's a bunch of teams she dressed for)

And I just realized I need to redo the upper right corner of this that wallpaper. WOops

I feel like the iPad is automatically downsizing anything over a pre-determined resolution. I was having this problem with a work iPad when I was trying to preview tablet COMPs on the thing. Anything over 3000px was being compressed by the photo app.

would anyone be able to make a retina iPad version of this?

it would be much appreciated :)
