I’ve heard this too. Makes no sense and it would be a deal breaker for me as text sharpness would be a priority for me since my iPad is primarily a reading device. Have you tried exchanging your iPad in the hopes you got a bad copy?
I am having zero problems with text sharpness on my 13; maybe I’m not sensitive to whatever issue others are seeing but it looks sharp and clear to me using 100% dark mode across all my apps.

You don’t say which was your previous iPad. MY previous ipad is the 2018 iPad Pro 11inch and the difference to the M4 is HUGE!

That is a pretty stark difference. I can't really tell, but is there a screen protector on the older IPP? Does the new one have a screen protector on too?

In-store I couldn't discern much difference between my M1 IPP 12.9 side-by-side with the new M4 13. I had to stare and look for differences as they were not obvious. It was like trying to find Waldo. If the difference was like the image you posted then that is undeniable improvement, but alas that was not the experience for me against the 5th gen IPP. Glad you're enjoying your new IPP.

11” never had miniLED so when you tested a 12.9” that panel is much better compared to the new OLED when it comes to brightness.

Jobs was principled yes, but very smart people, while principled, aren’t afraid to change their mind when they discover new information. Case in point, the iPhone 5 was the last iPhone Jobs was involved with, and the first to have a bigger screen. Hence, he was already beginning to change his mind about something he had been outspoken about. I have no doubt that Jobs would have eventually come around to the benefit of the even bigger displays we see now when he saw how they could benefit the customer.

Being willing to change your mind is a key part of the creative (and product development) process. Jobs knew that. If it turns out there’s a new product category or need for a new product line with combined macOS tablet / notebook, Greg Joswiak and has already stated they see them as two separate products, yes, but that they can’t rule out changing their minds.
Good points. Well never know what Jobs would do; but we can observe what today’s leaders at Apple will do. Hopefully we will know more in a few more weeks.

yep, they never brought the good display tech to the small ipad, the one i use since it is the perfect weight and size to take with me everywhere i go. So it’s the very nice but still very side lit IPS 11 of this oled. I am starting to miss my IPS for ease of reading and consistent color accuracy

Returned my 13”+MKB for a 11” with no accessories for ‘pure’ tablet experience. Funny how I naturally started using the 11” in both portrait and landscape mode vs the 13” where I used landscape exclusively.

I will say the 11” display is slightly warmer than the 13” which was cooler similar to my iPhone 13 Pro. Interesting but I prefer the warmer tone as it’s more inline with what my OLED tv is calibrated to.

Well, the 11 is more rectangular, while the 13 is more squarish. Rotating the 13 doesn't really change a tremendous amount, like rotating the 11 does.

I returned my 11-inch M4 + Magic Keyboard. For the use cases I have, the M4 just wasn't a noticeable improvement over the M2. If Apple would have allowed the M4 MK and Pencil Pro to be used with my 11-inch M2, I would have kept the MK and bought the PP. So, Apple lost out on some of my money.

I returned both the 11” and 13” M4 iPads due to poor speaker quality and case and screen vibrations, keeping my M1 pro for now.

Is the screen and case vibration from the speakers? I thought the speakers are weaker on the M4s.

Yeah the extreme circumstances are “at night” lmao. I’m not a mini LED hater but pretending bloom is basically nonexistent is so silly. Blooming is noticeable and does look bad. It is a trade off of the tech. Not being honest about it is hacky 🤷‍♂️
Just reading this on my M1 iPP 12.9 (white letters on dark background). No blooming at all!

This new M4 should be recalled.

Poor speaker quality
Vibrating
Screen grain
Not as sharp as M1 ipads
Screen causing nausea and sleepiness
What else?

No wonder so many are trying to feel happy about buying a flawed product.

I think the problem for many here is that they get caught up in the forum hype and buy a product for release day that isnt really needed. When reality sets in, many of the same people feel compelled to tell strangers they returned a product to the store. The purpose for the post is to help said person convince him or herself that the product was inherently bad, instead of their impulsive, illogical reasoning.
Bought the M1 iPP 12.9 last week with 16 batterie cycles for halve the money of the M4 version! It even has better speakers, a SIM slot and an UW camera…
