Said I was returning my Mini… haven’t yet and the longer I use it the more I love it lol.
Screen aside, the rest is perfect. I’m so torn.
I really really dislike the screen and the small touch areas make everything feel inaccurate.
Like I said upward a bad screen invalidates everything else that might be good, because your eyes will always be looking at it

Damn!
I'm impressed that at near 70 you enjoy the mini form factor and how small everything on screen is!
I’m mid 60s and like the mini form factor. It fits in my purse, it’s great for using while riding in the truck on the way to and from our camp, it’s a good size for hauling with me when we run our trail cameras. It’s what I use at night when I got to bed. I can’t imagine doing any of that with my larger iPads.

Oh, and glasses make a huge difference in being able to read things on the screen. I guess you’re not old enough to have experienced that yet.

So, i purchased a 256Gb Space Grey Wifi iPad Mini 6, well the device is beautiful, form factor/size is perfect, im just completely underwhelmed for paying pretty much $1000CAD for this thing.. Screen is "ok"... cameras are "ok" , Battery life is "ok"..

Honestly if this thing costed $450-$550CAD as is id of probably of been happy with my purchase, but in no way is this thing worth $1000 to me.. I will just wait till a better version comes out or buy one used in a few months when people sell them for a good price.

i really really really wanted to like it and convince myself to keep it but i cant justify the price for the final product received.
apple is more punitive than microsoft who tends to price fairly close to exchange rates, apple always overprices to canadians

Yes you need good vision for the iPad Mini. Mostly everything is basically shrunk down in size from the regular size iPad, without adjustment for the smaller screen.

In some ways this is unusual: this is not typically done for computer displays. My 13" MacBook display is not simply a shrunk down version of my 27" iMac display. If it was, everything would be too tiny to read

I really don't think it is. As I've used OLEDS extensively with Android devices for years and as I say the Air 4 screen was a complete non issue. I never once looked at that screen and thought "hmm this is a bit poor". I only sold the Air due to us acquiring a 2021 iMac for our household in June, but really missed the iPads portability to browse and watch content on the sofa or in the kitchen whilst eating if I was dining alone or whatever.

So the Mini seemed like it'd fit that need percectly plus it's cheaper than an Air for a base model (all I need) and I love everything about it... Except the screen!
Maybe they just used crap screens? Something is definitely off about it.
Is it possible the bezels look bigger due to the screen size and hence makes the iPad mini screen look a toy or one of those cheap digital photo frames?

Well, I just returned from BestBuy. I looked over the iPad mini 6 thoroughly and couldn’t see the jelly scroll. Also, the screen was fine, to me. Once I get paid, I’m trading in my mini 5 (excellent iPad) to Apple and getting the mini 6. I see it as nice upgrade.

And guess what? Almost everyone in the real world will agree with you, I don’t see the jelly scroll and the screen looks absolutely fine to me.

I don’t have the new mini. I have the mini 5 and have had all the previous generations. I don’t have good eyesight. I have one long sighted eye and one shortsighted. The vision in my shortsighted eye is significantly worse but I’ve never struggled with the mini.

I had previous mini and upgraded to 6, but ended up returning it.
I just couldn’t use this screen… not sure what’s going on but I had eye strain/pain just trying to read anything on it. I fiddled with font size and stuff like that but gave up after 3 days.
I even compared side by side with my mini 4th gen, and switching to old one was like an instant relief.

Totally agree. I don't have vision problems at all but they are getting older, like I do :D
So my vision is not the best anymore but I never had a problem with the Mini 5. More so with the iPhone 12 mini and apps were you can't set any specific text size. Then yes. But not so with any iPad mini.

But iPadOS15 is not at all adjusted to the Mini I think. I love the new calendar widget, it changed. But somehow on my iPhone 12 mini I can read the appointments when on the Mini 5 or 6 it is hard to read. They could have done a little more adjusting. iPadOS15 on the Mini somehow seems "Mini". Text size etc. Of course now you can adjust every app separately in the control center which I love but that doesn't apply to the homescreen f.e. But this is a iPad Mini and iPadOS15 problem in general. maybe if the Mini 6 will become very popular they do adjust iPadOS15 more to the Mini section.

That's the biggest issue I have with it just now and I think why I will return it. I have tried adjusting some of the accessibility settings, but I'm not getting on with the size for web browsing either. I keep finding myself zooming in, rotating the device etc.

At the moment its an expensive digital notebook and eReader, so I guess its just not for me.

Then again that is why I like the mini, a small device that can fit a lot on the screen because things just become smaller. I could even go for making everything slightly smaller on the mini to be honest so it could fit even more.

Blame your economy, not the product
Even in US dollar the iPad mini is clearly overpriced. The 11' iPad pro is clearly the better choice with almost double specs. Better screen, better camera, 2x more RAM, 2x more storage space for the base model... You only pay for the small factor and Apple knows it.

Just buy an iPhone 13 Pro Max instead if you want a very portative tablet-like device.

I'm afraid I am returning my iPad mini 6. Here it is on the right against my wife's iPad mini 5. The screen is worse showing at full brightness and True Tone. I tried without True Tone and still the same difference.

Don’t blame you for returning it, apple has really payed peanuts for these displays, even my 13 pro max display isn’t as bright or good as the iPhone 11/12 pro max.

1000 nits, no chance 🤦‍♂️😂

It pains me to write this, but I have owned ever Mini since the original, except for the Mini 3. I have loved every one of them. When the Mini 6 was announced, I eagerly pre-ordered it and picked it up at an Apple Store on Saturday. It is great in every way, except that I seem to get eyestrain every time I look at the screen for an extended period of time. I have see no jelly scrolling or any other malady described in this forum, it is just that my 65 year old eyes seem to generate a headache when I use it, and that is with glasses. I still have my Mini 5 since I have yet received my trade-in return kit for it. I copied my information back onto the "5" last night (i had previously wiped it), and the screen looked totally different and doesn't cause eyestrain. It just doesn't irritate me the way the Mini 6 screen does. I am afraid I may have to return the Mini 6 and keep the Mini 5. Is it just me or is this is an issue for many other readers of this forum?

I have exactly same problems. I am 40 and never had any eye/sight issues before.
I just cannot use mini 6 - big eye pain leading to headache and even dizziness.
