Not sure why you're arguing about it. The tech specs have been released officially since early September. It's not a 16x9 screen it's larger at 19x9 or something like that. With any screen, zooming to fill the screen is a nice word for cropping the image. If you understood aspect ratios you would understand this very simple concept.

uhh... because I wanted to give it a chance before knocking it. Better than to experience it than not experience it at all before making a post on here right? I knew it wouldn't be a perfect fit and wanted to see what a 1080p native would look on the X compared to my 7+.

I got my X on Friday.

It's going back. Everything on the phone is awesome, but I can't deal with the reduced text size. I realize you can make it bigger, but not everything scales right. My eyes just aren't what they used to be and I find myself straining to read my phone.

I have to admit that the notch and rounded corners also drive me nuts. I realize that most people have gotten over that, but it's just not working for me. It's not a deal breaker, but since the text suffers because of the reduction in width, the phone is going back anyway.

I agree. The screen seems much smaller compared to the Plus devices.

I too, came from a 7 Plus device and after time I can notice the difference. And the devs that haven’t updated their apps makes it even more distinguishable.

But the positive side... I like the “feel” of the device compared to the 7 Plus. I’ve had Plus devices since the original 6 Plus and later the 6s Plus. Is this a major upgrade from the 7 Plus... I don’t know, I think I’d be perfectly fine with the 7 Plus.

But then again I’m a techie... I like having the latest and greatest.
This.

Same reasons mine went back. If I had younger eyes, I may have kept it.

Since you refuse to acknowledge anything about resolution and aspect ratios here is a quick run down to give you an idea. Has nothing to do with 1920x1080 that your referring to as 1080p. The iPhone X has no issues displaying 1080p content. You just don’t like the Aspect Ratio. http://mashable.com/2017/11/06/how-...eens-fit-apple-iphone-x-super-retina-display/

Trying to get FaceID to work while my phone is mounted in my car has infuriated me. That is the LAST place I need my phone to be less than reliable.
Get an Apple Watch or start training Siri.

again, read the thread. I know the iPhone X have no issues displaying 1080p content, when did I say it did? All I said was displaying it native on a 1125 resolution screen looks small and I'm not a fan of the borders, and definitely not a fan when zoomed in to fill in the edge to edge screen because it's cropped too much. I don't know how else to dumb it down for you.

the resolution has nothing to do with your youtube experience..

the resolution at 1125 px just means you get a crispier image because you have more pixels packed in the same space.

what you probably dont like is the aspect ratio. and thats fine, you are resistant to change. some people complained when their 3.5" screen in the iphone 4 became obsolete because they bought apple's "makes sense screen because you can reach it with your thumb from edge to edge".

LCDs are indeed brighter because they beam a constant light throughout the screen. however, this prevents deep contrasts and a truer black; as well as being less battery efficient.

take your time.. one step at a time. you'll get there eventually.
Whoa, that was pretty condescending, patronizing . You’re speaking to him as if he’s three...

Well I guess the good thing about opinions, we all have one. I too had the 7 plus and no way in hell would I step back to that phone. If you like it better than jump back to it. You don’t need us here to coddle you and help you feel better about your choices in life. The phone has only been out a day and a lot of apps haven’t even been optimized yet. I for one will give it the chance it needs because for me apple has no alternative better the that X. Yeah hopefully next year we will get an X Plus which is a little wider, but I’m loving the new form factor and gestures. Flicking apps closed is so satisfying lol. I love Face ID and think my wrist is going to thank me because holding the 7 plus for too long it would start getting pain because how heavily it felt. But to each his own.

Sounds like the guy who needs the coddling is the one complaining about how the iPhone 7+ hurt his wrists. LOL

A downgrade? Now that’s funny. My X is noticeably brighter than my 7plus at full brightness.
With autobrightness on?

Not mine, my 7Plus was noticeably brighter and cooler. I’ve already accepted the fact that not all iPhones are created equally. Maybe I just a good batch of 7 Plus and a bad batch of the X, nonetheless, the X has been returned.
Snap, although I still have my x and going to pop in store at the weekend to compare with floor models.

Hi,

I started out with iPhone 3g and have been really loving every upgrade until the X: 4s, 5s, 6s+

I upgraded from the 6s+ to the X and was really excited about the X but do not like:

- the device is too tall and just not wide enough. Every time I pick up my 6s+ to read I feel the .7 cm or so difference to be very noticeable.

- faceid is good but touchid(with multiple impressions of same finger) works just fine. had some issues in bright sunlight with faceid but in general it works well enough.

- the new portrait photo modes and fake bokeh and very gimmicky.

- people are raving about the OLED. I have made a lot of side by side comparisons of photos but do not notice a big difference.

- the 6s+ has not slowed down with ios 11 as have older iphones. It is still very usable. The X does not open such apps as Downcast blazingly faster. Web pages and safari do not open blazingly faster.

I do not like the swipe up to go home. I am using assistive touch home button placed on the bottom right of the screen.

And finally, the price tag. I can afford it but at this point I think I will return and wait for the next gen.

Are you returning your X?

I’m considering returning mine and getting the iPhone 8.

Coming from an iPhone 7, the X just feels so big and heavy for me. The weight is distracting, and stretching/adjusting my grip just to get to control center or my notification screen is really annoying. Face ID is good, but Touch ID is easier for me.

You'll only have a year to wait, dude. If you love your older iPhone, stick to it and wait it out. As you said, phones constantly get upgraded and refined, and the X Plus next year will be no different.

Sorry to hear you didn't have the experience a lot of happy buyers are having.

I just returned mine and went back to my 6S+

Battery: X has a larger battery than a 8+ yet the battery doesn't last as long even though it supposedly has a more efficient screen. Multiple tests done on websites and user submitted battery stat screenshots show this. X= 7-8 hours use, any Plus model is 10-12+ hours.

https://image.prntscr.com/image/Ks1FqvpsRPafKbjyba4ICA.png

Screen: The screen, while looking good at a perfect angle. Changes colors if you're slightly off axis. My old LCD Plus looks better when side by side just sitting on my desk looking at the same content.

Also about the screen, looking at it for 4 days gave me a 4 day headache. My eyes were hurting and I could not focus. Switched to my Plus, problem is gone.

Screen Size: The screen makes you think that it's bigger, but it's just a trick. There is so much wasted space that in some cases the usable screen area is actually smaller than the 4.7" iPhone 8. Coming from a Plus model, it's a huge downgrade in screen real estate and that's a big sacrifice to make for a phone that doesn't offer anything new or better in comparison to a 8 Plus.

Face ID: This is where Apple tried to solve their own problem, rather than thinking about the consumer. They couldn't fit a fingerprint reader anywhere so they added in Face ID. While it did work surprisingly well and I never had a failure. I felt as though I was trying to work for the phone rather than the phone working for me. I found myself adjusting angles, holding it just right while laying in bed, can't use it on your desk without picking it up... It was not a replacement for Touch ID, which is faster and far more convenient.

UI/UX: The software sucks. Plain and simple. Whoever designed this and thought it was acceptable is an idiot who doesn't know anything about UI or UX. I can go into detail if you like, but just know it's a step backwards and more of a process do to simple things like closing an app or shutting the phone down.

I can probably think of a few more but I think those are the main points that effect most people. The rest is just nitpicking because I expect a fluid and sensible 60 FPS experience and Apple hasn't delivered that since iOS 6... and it's not because of the hardware we have.

Does Apple refund Applecare+ fee if you return in 14 days?
Can get prorated refund of AC+ at anytime via AC Support. If you return within 14 days will get it refunded in the return transaction.

I had a 6 Plus, 6S Plus, and 7 Plus. While I like the wireless charging a lot, there aren't enough reasons for me to go to the 8 Plus. If I decide I prefer the wider 7 Plus over the X, I would go back to it, but I would not upgrade to the 8 Plus. However, the pre X iPhones do seem dated compared to the X. Full screen, Face ID, no home button, are all very modern. My only potential hangup that I am still evaluating is whether the X keyboard feels too narrow coming from three years of Plus.

Any idea how the return process works for those who purchased their iPhone X on the Early Upgrade Plan? I’d most likely be trading in the X for the iPhone 8. Or maybe the SE...

Not sure how complicated the citizens one loan makes things.

Same. Loan cancelled. New one started.
