My 14 year old daughter isn't a techie but even she knew it was a wider aspect screen, hence 5.8" was not directly comparable to the plus phones. Anyway, compared to my iPhone SE, it is a huge, beautiful display.

Well sorry that she knew and I didn’t. Not sure what that meant. But I work constantly. I don’t have time to dissect every detail of an upcoming product. So I am your casual observer. I hear new iPhone, edge to edge screen. And 5.8 inch display and think phablet.

Now you can make an argument that perhaps I should have waited till it came out. That’s fair to say.

aw come on.. half?
are you exaggerating on purpose or is that really what you think?

maybe a handful of people think like that but nowhere close to half.

idk, i couldn't even read the rest of your post since it started off this way.
I mean, I can't really read your posts because you don't like to capitalize.

Regardless, you know what I mean.

Slightly off topic but...

I did the same thing. I got the charger for free from ATT. Only had the Lumia for a week and the charger has been in a box since then. Was very happy to see it work and the fact I didn’t have to buy another charger.
Aren’t standards a wonderful thing? Maybe someday we get usb c on our iPhones too.

not really.. if you're using hyperbole then fine..
it's just that you might be surprised around here as far as when you assume someone may be exaggerating for effect when in reality, they're being dead serious.

I agree. The screen seems much smaller compared to the Plus devices.

I too, came from a 7 Plus device and after time I can notice the difference. And the devs that haven’t updated their apps makes it even more distinguishable.

But the positive side... I like the “feel” of the device compared to the 7 Plus. I’ve had Plus devices since the original 6 Plus and later the 6s Plus. Is this a major upgrade from the 7 Plus... I don’t know, I think I’d be perfectly fine with the 7 Plus.

But then again I’m a techie... I like having the latest and greatest.

I didn't notice that much of a screen size difference between my 6S Plus and X. Anyway, not enough to bother me.

I feel fine with my decision of going back, not here to look for validation. I'm still here posting at my desk because I'm just researching if it's worth exchanging the X for the 8 Plus. Like I said in my original post, if the X works good for you, that's great and I hope you continue to love it. I'm just posting concerns here hoping Apple will skim thru these boards and will take into consideration on what to improve on the next Plus model.

I imagine that Apple probably has focus groups or something similar in place for that.

I agree. I've had my iPhone X for the past day and tbh, I popped my SIM back into my 6+ last night because I just don't know that I like the X. I miss the big screen. I'm sure I could get used to the narrower screen eventually but I'm also seriously considering returning mine for an 8+.
Funny I went the other way, Bought a 8 Plus 10 days ago because everyone including Apple store said I wouldn't get an X until after Christmas. Then yesterday my iMessage blew up with friends walking into Apple and getting what they wanted. I returned my 8 Plus and picked up an X. Very happy with the complete package, yeah there are some minor pain points, mostly learning curve, but no showstoppers. While sitting at the setup table I would guess about 70/30 X vs 8 models being purchased. Women 8 not plus, guys X. Just ignore the typical passive aggressive Macrumors negitive posters and enjoy what works for you. Great to have choices.

Half the people here want to be petted and told that they did a good job buying the iPhone X. That's it. They want to justify the fact that they spend $1,000 on an iPhone.
I'll gladly spend $1k on a phone because its my main device. I use it more than anything else. Funny how some like to lecture others about how they spend their own money.

Christmas is almost here time fly’s so in 10 months X plus will be out question is starting price $1099 for 64gb?

Who’s lecturing? Again there’s a thread saying they feel bad for 8 plus users. I had a choice between an 8 Plus last week and an X and I chose the 8 plus simply because it’s refined and proven for me. I’m still in the return period so I have time to think it over.

My point still stands. There are people that think they are superior because they bought a particular phone and need to feed their ego. Is that everyone? Of course not.

You can get a Mercedes C class and a Toyota Corolla for near the same price. Some will choose the Toyota.

This. On a cost per use basis, my phone, even at $1,000 (and that is in CAD after my $500ish contract “discount”) wins out amongst many other things I own (even ones that cost far less). I am quite comfortable spending that on something I use several hours a day and will have for 2 or 3 years.

That was my thinking when I got the 7+, besides, I had no choice. My 5 had died. However, given the issues affecting me with iOS 11.1 and poor cellular reception and flaky wifi connectivity, I am beginning to have my doubts.

I will use my 7+ until it dies. I will update to the latest iOS in the hopes my issues will be remedied with future updates. If not, I might eventually say "bye bye" to Apple.

at the end of the day they all run the same old iOS. if you know one, you know them all.

you decide if its worth to you spending 1.149 Euro on a new iPhone when you pretty much go back doing the same stuff as on your previous iPhone

if you trade in an iPhone 7 through the apple iup program, do you have to give up your phone on the spot or can you mail it in at a later time? What if I buy the x and don't like it, do I get my 7 plus back?

Thanks

I’d rather have a proven ‘boring’ design than a new ugly one. Thanks for beta testing the X for me. ;)

I guess your alone there. Lol. Let’s not forget when the 8 and 8 plus launched last month Apple stores had no lines and all models were readily available, much much bigger difference with the X. Lol.

Bingo. They should have kept it either 1080 resolution or 1440 resolution. 1125 is just going to throw everything off

Funny, well the Note 8 is 1440p (a standard resolution) and still crops videos when you zoom in. So I guess there is no getting around that. Lmao.

Coming from a 5s that was not adopting well to new IOS updates and with a camera that crapped out over a year ago, I respectfully disagree ;) For one, I can actually take pictures again!

This is really easy. If you are on a plus and don't mind carrying a brick, the X is not for you.

Mmm, not sure about the car analogy. Toyota's reliability record is far superior to Mercedes; therefore the better product pound for pound.

1. Coming from an iPhone 7 Plus screen to the iPhone X screen is a downgrade, don't care what anyone says, everything is bigger on on my 7 Plus and 1080 resolution just fits everything nicely on the screen. The 1125 resolution is just weird, especially watching youtube videos because everything out there is 1080p. Not to mention my 7 Plus is brighter and more cool compared to the X oled screen and I perfer the cooler color. I'll wait for the iPhone X Plus if Apple ever decides to release it.

2. My phone is always on my desk and with touch ID, I can easily unlock the phone without picking it up and take a quick glance at notifications. I can't do that with the iPhone X, now I have to pick up the unit for face ID and swipe up, not convenient at all.

For paying $1200 w/ tax, I just wanted something that is better than my 7 Plus and I feel as though it's a step backwards for me due to the reasons above. If it works for you, that's great, I hope you continue enjoying your device, but this is definitely not for me. I really hope they release an iPhone X Plus with touch ID embedded into the screen.

How did you not already know all of this long long long before you ordered it?

I think once the apps I use are updated to support the X I will be 100% happy with my purchase.

Because some claim the iPhone X 5.8 inch is bigger than the Plus when it isn’t. If anything, hopefully this thread will help educated and inform people on the fence that’s on the plus size and thinking about going to the X.

This thread is not about education, it’s about you feeling good about your return. People keep saying what is so good about the X over the 8 and 8 plus. How about we ask what is so good about the 8 and 8 plus over the 7 and 7 plus. Uh wireless charging, which is a feature that really makes no sense because the charging pad is still connected to a plug. How about the 7 plus and 7 plus over the 6s and 6s Plus, slightly faster internals. Let’s be honest Apple has been trolling all of us since the 7 and 7 plus we’re introduced with the same damn design. You can say if it’s not broken why fix it, but I say that those engineers and designers have been getting off easy with the stuff they have been putting out and glad they are stepping it up a bit this year.
