iPad mini Returning my Mini today

I just read that the new mini 5 comes with 10/12w charging brick. Does that mean Apple left out fast charging too?

I have iPP 9.7 (bezels, Home button), 10.5 (bezels, Home button), iPP 11, and Mini 4. I don’t have any problem going between iPP 11 with Face ID and pencil 2, and the other three iPads with the larger bezels and the Home button. I still have my pencil 1 that I got with the iPP 9.7 so I don’t have to rebuy. I use my Mini 4 a lot, but I’m looking forward to the faster Mini 5, cellular (Mini 4 is WiFi), and being able to use the pencil with the Mini 5.
I have a Surface Go, so that’s another device with thicker bezels, Face ID, and a different type stylus with an actual functional eraser and different hardness nibs.
I use the tool that I feel is best for the job at hand. I’ll be selling the Mini 4 and iPP 9.7 (with ASK) to a friend so I’ll be down from 4 (temporarily 5) iPads to 3.

My eyes are highly sensitive. If a tablet is set up correctly with the appropriate levels of lighting and correct filters, I find it much easier to read on a tablet. In any event, I believe my Paperwhite to be absurdly slow in comparison, not to mention technologically primitive.

Not sure you read the updates to that first article, but e-ink is most definitely better for your eyes than a tablet. Tablets being more popular doesn't alter reality.
Tempted to buy a Mini 5 considering all the praise the line of tablets have always had, especially now that the new one has released. I tried it out today at Best Buy and it's really nice. I like how you can easily hold it one hand and how light it is. I used to have a 10.5" iPad Pro but sold it because it I didn't really use it much (and because of the bright spot issue that I didn't want to deal with), and now the Mini 5 has caught my eye for filling the empty void.
I recently cracked the screen on my Kobo and now I'm without an e-reader, perhaps this is a sign. Seems like it would be the perfect pair to my iPhone SE.

Just got the new Air today and yeah this is the tablet for me. Mini was nice but its use-case just isn't viable to me anymore, especially at that price. I find my XR is better for games and doing everything on the go, and the Air is much better for Safari, drawing and videos. The mini is more portable than the Air but my XR is far more portable than the mini. The mini is just in a weird spot for me now that phones are so big. I think I will add a keyboard case to the Air and really increase its usefulness.
1) You were wrong as regards your suggestion about the "huge success" of Kindles. You could have the good grace to admit it.
2) There is no suggestion anywhere of permanent damage being suffered from using either device. In any event, nothing has been settled even as regards temporary discomfort. As has been suggested one should use what one is comfortable with.

I said the Kindle was a huge success. Because it WAS a huge success. And it's also better for your eyes, but obviously people go with convenient over best, it's not unusual.
And yes, the Air is inferior to a Pro. That's why one is a Pro and the other is an Air, and the Air is cheaper. And the air doesn't have a long history of problems with the screen (flash lighting). But the Air has a better processor and a better battery, and it runs and looks beautifully, which is all I care about. There's no reason for me to own 3 devices to do everything when simply a phone and a 10.5 inch tablet will do it. Like I said, the mini is just in a weird spot for me. It's a neat device, but its viability is reduced by the fact that my phone is big and yet far more portable than the Mini and the Air is large enough to replace a laptop for when I'm home, which the Mini cant do.
I think few usually means more than two rather than just more than one. The iPhone X is less than 2 years old...
This is what he suggests at first instance:

No prizes for spotting the inconsistencies and contradictions between the two statements.
Turning to more serious matters, as I have said elsewhere, for those lucky enough to be able afford it, the mini makes an excellent subsidiary iPad for such things as reading and listening to music. I picked mine up late yesterday and am delighted with it. It is worth every single penny and then some.
Makes me wonder what the discounted pricing is going to be like around the holidays for these and the new Air. I'd guess 330-350 for the Mini and 399-429 for the Air. Depends on how well they eventually sell I suppose. I can see the Mini doing well but the Air struggling.

That's awesome. You don't travel much do you? I travel extensively for work and pleasure. I'd need two additional backpacks to carry everything you go between. Glad that works for you. Having choices is a great thing.

In the quoted statement, you also mentioned few as simply being more than one. You said the iPhone X was a few years old. That would imply it's at least three years old but it's not even reached two yet.
The iPhone X came out in September, 2017, which was 18 months ago. Far less than ‘a few years’.
Define “travel”. If you mean using public transportation like planes or trains, just a couple of times a year. I carry large iPad, small iPad, Go, and sometimes a small Android tablet.
However, we usually travel to our camp a couple of times a month. I usually have the iPP 11, Mini, a cheap Android tablet to use while running cameras, and my GO. If I’m testing the camera app, then a second Android tablet and a third iPad. I only have to tote them from vehicle to camper, not schlepp them through an airport. The kicker? We have no electricity at the camp unless we run a generator. We spent a week at Christmas and I kept everything charged using cigarette lighter adapter chargers.
20 acres surrounded by national forest 3 miles back on a dead end gravel road. Nothing but work, though. Still cleaning up from timber thinning last summer. It is beautiful back there.
Getting my cellular iPP 11 last fall has made a huge difference in my connectivity issues. Kim able to stay in touch with my students so much more easily and conveniently than with my Verizon hotspot.

I have just purchased a Kindle for reading on the commute and it's a million times better on my eyes than using an iPad. Yes, I use my iPad Pro at home, but for the commute a Kindle cannot be beaten.
