This just breaks my brain. I have to return mine because of YAY! Touch disease in Procreate in using fingers AND the pencil.:(:(:rolleyes:

Playing music and using Procreate / Photos in split screen shouldn't cause this kind of problem with the A12 chip and 3GB of ram.

So back it goes tomorrow morning.

I think I need to step away from iPads because as awesome as they have the potential to be, I'm just not having luck with them since 2017. Not going to get another 2018.

I love the Mini 5, but there's no way I am going through the exchange hoops after taking a wash on the 2017 12.9" iPad Pro.

Will look at Wacom tablets and just use sketches pro on my iPhone. I am gutted. Hope no one else goes through this.

I spent an hour last night listening to Audible through my AirPods and playing in Pigment with the pencil. I had no trouble at all.

Glad it works for you, I hope you have no issues. I wish that was my case and if I didn't lose $1k on a 2017 iPad Pro and had to return two 10.5 iPad Pros out of the gate for the same thing, I would have exchanged.

Enjoy yours.

The iPad mini is twice as big. The size differential is accounted for by the different aspect ratios.
Not a big enough difference. I'd rather have a 10.5 or 11 in conjunction with my larger screen phone. The mini has been made obsolete by larger phones to me.

While I've had zero problems with the new mini, that kind of loss is obviously going to make you more sensitive regarding issues in other models. Can't say I blame you.

I have a 9.7 Pro and a 10.5 Pro as well as the mini. Ideally, I see the mini as a subsidiary device for most people. If I had had to choose just one, I wouldn't even have considered the mini.

How can the mini be too small for iMessage but, you feel the Max is better for such?

Text size. In general for me everything on the Mini was just a little too small to be comfortably accessible. I also had thought there was something a bit off about the way Youtube 1080 was scaled while in landscape.

The Mini is impressive and I thought I would like it at first but the Air 3 may be a better fit for me.

No fault of the device, just got the itch for it and now have regrets.

My 11" wins for sure.

I’m glad you posted this. One of my reasons for going to the 11 from the 12.9 was to have a device that was more portable and easy to throw in my purse and take anywhere. What I really DON’T need is a thousand dollar iPad sitting on my desk all the time while I purchase another device to take with me everywhere. I’ve really wanted to pick up a mini, but talking myself out of it because I truly don’t need it.

I think my only true use case would be for reading in bed, which is why I have considered just picking up a mini 4 and loading it with my Kindle app and all my books. The perk for me is if I buy a 4, I can pass it down to my last grandchild that doesn’t have an iPad yet - not gonna do that with a brand new mini 5.

About 30 minutes in Safari was enough to convince me.

I’m coming to the same conclusion I’m afraid. And I’ve had three Mini’s so it’s not like I didn’t know what I was getting into, it’s just that going back to one after rocking a 10.5” for a year gives me a different perspective I guess. The Mini 5 is great, glad they updated it, but I’m no longer sure it’s for me.

I was not sure either but am now. Wish I could help, but if in doubt, buy it and see.

For me as user of an 12.9 iPad pro the mini is a keep, but I see your point if you have a 10.5 or even 11 size. I read books quite a lot too, and the 12.9 is to big for this in my opinion. When I had the 9.7 Pro it was the only tablet I needed, the size was right for most of my uses.

R u happier with 12.9+mini than you were with just 12.9 though?

I hate to say it but I returned my Mini 5 today and bought the Air 3.

I hadn’t planned to but I came to the realisation that the Mini 5 gave me very little more than my Mini 4, which was brand new last March, so only a year old. It was faster, and had the pencil support, but other than that my Mini 4 was just as good. Normally I would have traded in my 4 but the value is too low, plus my casing is chipped. I could have sold it on eBay but i’m not comfortable selling Apple products there.

The Air on the other hand gives me a larger screen, useful as I want to do online colouring classes. Plus I am at the age where a larger screen is starting to be required. I figure the mini 4 will be supported for a while yet as they were still selling them in February.

Good job then that you didn't buy it at JL.

I got my Mini a week ago yesterday and I still love it. I find myself using my mini differently than I use my 10.5 Pro. My Mini isn’t going anywhere unless we go out for the day...together.

What do you use your mini 5 for? I have a 10.5 and I have a mini on hold, pickup, at the Apple store but I’m still debating

I use the Mini for the web, reading books, YouTube, iMessage, a few casual games etc..my 10.5 is now for movies, and doodling with my Apple Pencil mostly.

They are both for casual use, however due to an injury to my left hand and wrist, I find the 10.5 too heavy and painful after a few minutes that I've been forced to find something lighter or give up on my iPad altogether. I still like my 10.5..I just want the tendons in my wrist to heal and that won’t happen if I continue to aggravate it.
