I think the Ultra is great. Very comfortable to wear with the Ocean band. No regrets here.
It just has normal wear and tear. Due to inflation and how much so many things cost today I can resale for almost 3 times what I paid for. I used to worry about material stuff more when I was younger. I was really anal about it. After my divorce 8 years ago. Joint custody of my kids etc. Life changed me. I now worry about the bigger things in life and don't sweat the small stuff. I remarried. Had another son...he is 13 months now. Business is good. I have health. Now I just wear and enjoy my stuff to the fullest. When you die you don't take nothing to the grave. Just memories. I'm past my return window for the ultra watch. I'm content with it. Its a keeper. I haven't used an apple watch since series 1.
Ya, all you have to do is turn your find my off on your iPhone then initiate the returnThat's a great option. I started the process but it said I needed to sign out of iCloud on my Ultra before I can start the return. I also have a Cellular plan.
So if I sign out of iCloud and finish the return requirements will I be able to sign back into iCloud and use the Cell plan until I ship off or just decide to keep it? Thanks
Thanks for all the information. Im now all set up for another 14 days (trial) before I have to mail back to Apple for a refund.
This morning I charged up my wife's old (not so old) AW7 and used it for a few hours. I really missed how the AW(7) feels on the wrist compared to the Ultra. I thought ok I'll just order a AW8SS or Al and ship back the Ultra.
Then I realized it's like kicking out the beautiful girlfriend that just farted for the first time for a new cheaper one that will eventually fart...The point is this,,,just because I had some anxiety because the 14 day return deadline had arrived is no reason to throw her to the gutter and get another.
Does that make sense??? 🤔

I've found workout calories to be a little different when switching to any new watch. It usually settles down after a while. I assume it's related to calibration. It’s interesting that you mentioned that you didn’t get as accurate of health readings as your Series 6: I noticed the same discrepancy with my Series 7 and Ultra! Specifically, I would notice LESS calories burned for doing the same workout with my Ultra than with my Series 7. One more reason I’m glad I’m sticking with my Series 7 for another year…
Returned mine this morning after only a few days of usage. Overall I liked it a lot, it is not as big and as heavy than what I’ve expected, and it will be very durable, no doubt. The design looks better in real life than in pictures in my opinion, but it is still not a watch that I would use to dress up, so I can’t really consider it as my everyday watch. In an ideal world where my wallet is not a consideration, I would have both an Ultra for fitness and my actual SS S7 for dressier occasions, but if I have to pick one, I’ll have to go with the more classical one.
I’m glad this product is perfect for other people tho! I may consider to buy the Ultra a few months from now, but for now, I think it is wiser to wait
Good for you, it indeed looks great! I tried Ultra with my current leather and stainless steel bands, and I was not fond of the result. But some colors may be a better match with the Ultra than others
Wait what? You weren’t worried about resale?
It took me a long time to live by that. One of my professors mentioned your exact point.
Since then I have enjoyed my things so much more.not the next person.
Amen my man. This is a life lesson many should have before it’s too late. Don’t waste your time on the small things - focus on the important
Here is the review that really made me rethink which watch to keep:
As an athlete and hiker I am far more interested in sports and navigation features than in smart features and integration with my iPhone.
I still find the lack of any form of support for Messenger/Viber and WhatsApp on the watch (talking about the ability to speak to people);
As for releases- watch OS updates lately are really scarce in what they deliver. Look at iOS/iPadOS/MacOS for much of the same.
the Apple Watch Ultra Review - not ULTRA, definitely Big, Expensive & Rugged
this Apple Watch Ultra Review finds it to be a POOR ultra watch, a decent recreational running & tri watch, and the best ever smartwatchthe5krunner.com
Lots of good points there... Today is the last day to return my Ultra, and I may be getting cold feet! The Edition Series 7 Ti is a great watch itself, and I feel like I can wear it in more settings. But the recent pictures have me thinking otherwise./Took me way too many decades to figure this out. It's such an important point (IMHO) and it applies to a lot more than Apple Watches. Are you living your own life today, or are you not really living anyone's life, stuck sometime in the future or the past?
I see a point there: Apple's marketing is often not just hype but hype that sort of misses the point, or maybe hype that misrepresents the product and it's genuine good points. The AWU is such a great example. Good for an Everest ascent? Not at all, notwithstanding the marketing vids. Best smartwatch yet and a decent value when compared to recent Apple titanium watches? Heck yeah.
I had to do a return and buy another, originally said Nov 8-15, now showing up TODAY, two days after order.. seems any backlog even for Alpine Sport Loop is over.I returned mine and bought another earlier today. I quite like what the watch is and will use it alongside my Epix 2 depending on the occasion
Hey hits many of the points mentioned in the thread.Decided to keep my Ultra after all. Great watch....just not so great bands.
This video convinced me...Thanks bro!
After a week with the Ultra for a second time, I decided to return it. There are things I like about it (the bigger display despite not necessarily showing much more content), the battery life (much better for me for some reason the second time around), etc. But in the end I found the weight and size to be a negative. For me it was much harder to sleep with than my 7. Hard to describe but because of its weight it would sort of sag on my wrist away from my body so I‘d have to turn my wrist further (than with the 7) to see the watch. And biking with the Alpine loop on super tight I felt like the watch was kind of flopping around a bit. Others have said this but putting the 7 back on after a week felt so good, and I slept better (both because of the size/weight and because I saved $800).I’m in the same boat. Waiting for my 2nd Ultra to arrive. I got the Alpine Loop again (but also have a trail loop coming).
Apple's return policy is way too generous. I can understand buying again after returning a product but doing it twice is pretty wasteful...to each their own though..After a week with the Ultra for a second time, I decided to return it. While I agree that it’s wasteful, in the end apple still sells a watch, dishes the returns to a reseller and now has 2 watches in the wild.Apple's return policy is way too generous. As I said in my post apples leaves it up to the user to determine how the device will be used. Sometimes it takes longer than 14 days and sometime to reflect on the experience. Billions of profits surely indicates far more people are keeping their devices than returning.
Sent mine Ultra back. Had it one week and found it good but preferred the S7 SBTI weight and style
The Ultra does nothing the S7 already does for me, I don't swim, only cycle so it doesn't offer anything.
Yes I love the flat screen the sight extra brightness and battery life, but god the charge time is awful and takes the shine off the extra battery life
