I may end up returning mine, got it from Costco so there's a longer return window. My issues with it are the bands. I have the ocean band and trail loop, also tried the alpine loop in the store...and I don't love them as much as I loved the Solo Loop and Braided Solo loop. It's harder to get those to fit the ultra as well as the S7, because the ultra has a bigger frame. Still thinking about it...

Yeah. The solo loop and braided solo loop are both great. It seems like the standard Apple Watch bands don’t fit the Ultra perfectly because of the bigger size of the case. I tried a sports band, and it seemed to stick out off the wrist more than normal.

I think I’ll always keep around a standard Apple Watch with my nicer bands for occasions when I need something a little dressier.

only the FIXED length bands don't fit as well as with a prior AW case.. as you say, the AWU is a bit longer, so the fixed length bands like the SOLO LOOP and BRAIDED LOOP bands, (sizes 1-9?) physically are 'longer'. I wear a 7 on my AW 6 and 7 (42/44mm) which fit great, but with the AWU I need a 6 size. Sort of a bummer they don't work but that's the breaks to have the larger screen and case size. for others it might work a bit better IF the Loops were a bit snugger, and now just fit.

Sport loops IMHO are really some of the best options for the AWU and all those which I have fit fabu.

You‘ll need to go down a size for the Ultra to make up for the larger Watch body. But if you do get a perfectly fitting Solo on Ultra, it‘s super nice because it makes the Ultra almost weightless (because it can‘t move on the wrist).

AWU is a bit longer, so the fixed length bands like the SOLO LOOP and BRAIDED LOOP bands physically are 'longer'.

The Braided Solos may still fit alright because the band itself is a little thicker. Regular Solos, you‘ll need to go down a size.

Purchased one the day it was released.
Decided I wasn't in love with it and went back to a SS S7.
Missed the Ultra and wound up regretting returning it.
Purchased it again (though with the Trail Loop rather than the Alpine Loop).

It's not perfect, but it does a lot of things very well, and some much better than the Series watches (battery life being probably the biggest difference).
I did the same...in that exact order.

I said I wasn’t gonna do it, but I ended up re-buying the Apple Watch Ultra on Amazon today. With the black trail loop. Now I will have the 45mm Series 8, the 40mm Series 4 (was my daughters) and now this one. I think I need intervention…ha! The funny thing is I am still rocking the IPhone 11 and don’t plan to turn it in until it dies - I bought it outright a few years ago.

Series 8 and ultra on the same cycle! That’s pretty tight!

My issue were the bands as well. I put on a braided solo loop and now I love it!

Bought one for myself and eventually returned it. For whatever reason it just never felt comfortable. Bought one for my wife for her birthday and she loves it.

I took her series 7 aluminum so fortunately it has the keyboard feature that I was really enjoying when I got the Ultra. I do prefer the sleekness and weight.

I do miss the Ultra’s battery life but I have my old S5 that I use as backup to get me through the day the rest of the day. I did really like the flat screen aspect a well.

Thinking I might give a stainless steel model a try next fall. Or maybe they’ll make a smaller ultra-like watch ha

I bought one and got it on the release date, but after 2 months I just can't get used to the raw silver titanium colour, I just couldn't, so I am returning mine tomorrow, I think I'll go back to my SS AW7, and maybe next year Apple will release a black anodized version of it, I'll grab it again, aside from the colour dislike in my preference, the watch is/was fantastic, I love the extra button for my work out, screen-size and design.

Return? If purchased on the release day, would it not be past the return date?

I just did an hour ago, no one said anything, maybe they extended the return window? but ya, I just gave everything back.

‘I am ashamed to say I just bought my 3rd Ultra today. Returned the previous but can’t stand not having it. It is very nice hardware.
As I said, I really liked the hardware, just can't deal with the silver colour.

This is not normal! Try waiting longer before repurchasing. Consider waiting until next year if you’re unsure if it meets your needs.

Just got mine and next to my AW7 it "feels" a fair bit larger. I also compared text and you can get one more line on the Ultra. But overall I thought I was going to not like the Ultra, that outer lip, increased thickness, and seemingly huge crown guard really look terrible in pictures and the watch makes the strongest wrist look puny. But in reality the watch is quite stunning, aesthetically I'm very happy with it and am definitely keeping it over my AW7.

I’ve had my 2nd Ultra for almost a month (returned the first one). I just love it. I am use to the size and it no longer hurts my wrist. I traded my 45mm Series 8 for my daughter’s 41mm Series 8 last week, and I use that for sleep tracking. All is right in my world. 😀
