I’ve had my 2nd Ultra for almost a month (returned the first one). I just love it. I am use to the size and it no longer hurts my wrist. I traded my 45mm Series 8 for my daughter’s 41mm Series 8 last week, and I use that for sleep tracking. All is right in my world. 😀
To be honest, it’s too big for your wrist. But I could be wrong.

You’re right, it is too big for my wrist, but I am okay with it. It’s comfortable, and I love it.

I noticed someone laughed at my picture with the watch fit. It actually looks better in person. Not as funny looking, I guess. Even those of us with small wrists, deserve to have the Ultra, if we want.

Great watch....just not so great bands.

You can use any of the Apple Watch bands not just the Ultra ones.

biking with the Alpine loop on super tight I felt like the watch was kind of flopping around a bit.

I bought with the Alpine Loop. Tried it once and ditched it. Too difficult to take on/off, tightness is regulated by the loops which makes an exact fit more difficult. Now use the sport loop bands where I can get the tightness exactly right.

It seems like the standard Apple Watch bands don’t fit the Ultra perfectly because of the bigger size of the case. I tried a sports band, and it seemed to stick out off the wrist more than normal.

Maybe I'm missing something but had no issues with the bands I've tried.

Sorry. I wasn’t very clear. I meant that the sports band has a big gap between my wrist and the band. The connectors of the straps fit fine.

I have had the Ultra for a couple weeks now. It is a nice watch if you like bigger heavier watches, but I really like the S7 Ti watches. They are light, fast, good looking, and durable. I may return the Ultra and keep using the S7Ti. It does so many things well, without the extra bulk and weight. Oh and again the looks. 😁

I currently have an old W3 and a W6 along with my Garmin Fenix 3HR which I use for running. I have been eyeing the Ultra since it came out and was eager to upgrade from my W6. Well today I received the Ultra and while it's a beautiful watch, the reality of what it can do over my 6 just hit me. I love my W6. I actually prefer the size of the 6 and there's nothing that I would really need from an upgrade to the Ultra to warrant me keeping it.
If I were coming from a W3 then it would be a no brainer but for me the Ultra just wasn't worth the upgrade.
No faster processor, no additional storage, larger display but I'm really fine with my W6 display...probably better GPS tracking but then again I never have issues with GPS tracking or HR where I run. I know not everyone shares my opinion but for me right now Apple didn't provide enough of an improvement for what I am looking for.
Personally, I think if you can find a used W6 it is a hell of a bargain for about $250 right now and if I were looking to get into an Apple watch, that is what I would recommend.

You did the right thing , with the Apple Watch ultra having a the same processor as a AW6 makes it tough to really upgrade. Unless you want a stronger chassis’s bigger screen

Turns out that extra battery life isn’t worth the upgrade For you, but that’s fine.
I don’t care processor generation on Apple Watch as much as iPhone iPad. You are not gonna play games intensively on it Anyway. Better power efficiency for more advanced chip maybe, but oh well.
As for storage, the only use is to store my long Apple Watch music playlist on it For me.
Even so, I’m very much looking forward to upgrade it, just for a better battery life.

I love my Ultra! It’s awesome, it’s large it’s good looking. That said I gave away my Series 5 and I missed it for working out. Lifting weights I kept pushing the Ultra Action button so I got a 45mm Series 7 with cellular for $360 on Black Friday. It’s a heck of a watch for the price.

So now I have two :)

I just got off chat with Apple for a couple of issues I’ve been having. Relayed some feedback, and one of the topics was the Ultra watch. Most people who purchased it are not into sports from what I’ve seen. Once Apple sees and targets this ‘pro’ version towards business professionals, that thing is really going to take off. Yes, the ceramic was close, but the tech wasn’t there yet. It is now.

imo, Apple should make a ‘Pro’ for business folks and ‘Sports’ version for athletes. Shouldn’t have to flip the watch upside down either to avoid inadvertent ‘quick action’ button presses

Also, I didn’t really like the orange choice with the matte starlight casing. It does look good with the olive green band, and the display itself is gorgeous! I’m sure we’ll have more choices in the future, so can’t wait to see what’s in the pipeline for the next version.

Ideally, I’d like to see an Apple Watch Executive with a larger screen and a longer battery life between charges in a nice Titanium Black or Ceramic White color scheme.

As of now, my choice this year as a gift to myself is either the SE or Series 8. Still undecided. Hopefully I can trade up for next year’s ‘pro’ whatever that may be. Not sure if that’s an option currently.

Everyone has different use cases and needs from their watch which is absolutely fine and why Apple makes a wide range of products to cater for everyone. I am always curious when people cite the shared (and now aging) processor as a reason to be disappointed with the Ultra however.

I guess to my mind the only reason the processor should ever be an issue is if people can point to certain things it struggles to do at the pace they would expect. My Ultra is as snappy as I need it to be, just as my previous Series 5 was quick and responsive when using the same processor. I haven't seen anyone make a compelling case for what a faster processor would add to their Ultra experience.

That said, I think it might cause an issue for Apple with the line going forward. We are not party to Apple's upgrade plans for the Ultra, however it would not be a surprise if, as more of a niche product, the upgrade cycle was two-yearly rather than every year. At some point (and probably sooner rather than later) there will be a chip upgrade in the main AW line and this will oblige Apple to make it coincide with an Ultra upgrade. There's no way from a marketing and positioning angle that they can have their premium watch running a slower chip than its cheaper and supposedly inferior siblings, even if in day-to-day terms no-one notices the performance difference anyway.

Agreed with this. It does need to be higher spec’d in the future. The chip speed (nor the price) had no impact on me passing on the Ultra. Screen size, battery life and aesthetics play a role in that respect. I buy Apple products for functionality and design. As I’ve stated, the display is gorgeous! Just needs more color options in casing for my tastes and a muted scroll wheel or something with punch. I am not a fan of the orange.

What I actually see is the chip upgrade will probably happen on the Ultra first then a year down the road the rest of the watches will ge the chip upgrade. I think it will probably like the chip upgrade that the Pro phones got and the rest of the line using last years chips

While the best things in life aren’t things, the best thing in my life is my ultra! Couldn’t possibly return it - the screen, the battery, the speakers and mics, the wayfinder face in night mode, and the chunk of it 🙂 Mine ain’t going nowhere, except on my wrist!

I certainly was rather impressed with it on my wrist. It’s not huge as it may seem. It’s a good-looking watch with a beautiful display. I didn’t try the speakers or mics in the store, but the alarm alert I heard was noticeable. The battery and the display are huge pluses! If I had pics sorted out for easy accessibility, I’d show it on my wrist. Very nice device!

The Apple Watch Ultra does not have the same processor as a AW6. The AW6 has an S6 and the Ultra has an S8.

I returned ultra. Easy choice. Didn’t really like the flat screen. Chip is too old. In the end it wasn’t doing anything much better that my S5 wasn’t able to do.

My Ultra is a nice upgrade from my SS 4. I use it daily for runs and walks and hope to get out hiking with it soon. I don't think it's too big, and as mentioned many times on these forums, the value of the ultra is based on what you're upgrading from. Going from a 4 to the Ultra, IMHO is a huge improvement.
