In all the years since the first Apple Watch came out not one have I ever damaged an Apple Watch or hit the crown your arm protects it, this Watch is plain ugly and not worth it went back to series 7 stainless steel and was like I just brought a new watch
The crown guard is not a new concept, watches have had them for decades. Just because you've never damaged the crown doesn't mean that it doesn't have a benefit for others. The Ultra isn't for you, just use whatever watch you want and stop trying to justify it to yourself by arguing with others about how your decision is better than theirs.

I like the watch and I like the look of the Alpine Loop, but the feel of the loop bothers me.
It feels like one of those wrist bands you get at a county faire.

My hope is that that stiffness wears off and it becomes a bit softer.

The looks of the watch are obviously a very personal preference topic but man I just couldn't disagree anymore with all of what you said.

To me this watch makes all other apple watches look cheap. It looks beautiful in the titanium case and I can't imagine ever going back to a normal AW after this. Also price wise I would have paid 1k for everything this watch offers so the pricing is actually insane for what you get.

The nice thing is that we have both options available and people don't all have to agree. Enjoy your Series 8.

I think you misunderstand this watch; most of your cons are related to form, not function. This watch is a highly functional watch (for its intended market) at the expense of form. The S8 still exists for a reason.
I don’t think I misunderstand anything. As I state in my post, this is just an Apple Watch. What is so “highly functional” about this watch for its intended market? And what can it do that the S8 can’t?

I find it entertaining when people assume that the only use case is their own.
I find it amusing that some people have trouble accepting criticism of Apple and its products and you sir just stated a truism. Of course each person has their own use case. And if they buy a product and it doesn’t work for them then that’s an issue for them.

i wish they made a screen bigger than 45mm like I wish they made a same style as series 7/8 but bigger screen, the ultra would be cool if the screen was as big as the case like the 45mm, my dream Apple Watch would look the same as series 7/8 but bigger screen

I agree. They could go widescreen even on the Apple Watch.

  • It's ugly as all hell. It looks like an unfinished prototype.
I don't think it's ugly at all, but my preference does waver between this design & the Series 8. I wonder if I'll be over it in a couple of months and prefer the sleek, clean design of the 8.
  • The sharp edges of the watch face are terrible compared to the regular Apple Watch Series 8. It's obtuse and it affects the usability of the watch. The smoother and rounded edges of the regular Series 8 Watch are much better. Big step backward usability wise for me.
  • I swear the screen is less sharp than a regular Apple Watch Series 8. It looks a bit hazy and slightly pixelated. I believe this has just slightly more PPI than an AW 8 so I just don't get it but to my eye it looks like a worse screen than the 8 and certainly less bright. Is Apple up to some greasy tricks to try and get the battery life longer?
I think I prefer the rounded edges as well, but I can see why they went this route on the Ultra; it protects the crystal. Though they could've rounded it a bit (maybe on Ultra 2).
I think I agree about the screen. I do love the flat screen and it's super bright! But I think the series 8 is sharper. Dunno, could be wrong.
  • For what you get, the price is absurd. I mean, you don't even get a nice sleeve for the watch itself like you do with the Series 8: it's just cheap, disposable tissue paper.
I disagree, the price was actually phenomenally un-Apple like to me lol. This thing could've been $899 or $999 and it would've sold well imo.
  • The crown with the protruding side frame around it is annoying as hell. The crown is actually harder to hit because it's blended in with this new protruding nonsense on the side. Yes, I get why they did it: they say it will aid in usability with a glove and etc. when in rough environments but for everyday use I'm frustrated with a Crown that is harder to use.
Agree here, the crown is tougher for me to use. It rubs my wrist when I turn it. I totally get why they have a crown guard, and I don't mind it - think it adds to the novel design actually - but the crown is either too big for me or I'm turning it wrong 😂
  • Watch is fairly comfortable on the wrist.
  • Overall, it's just an Apple Watch at the end of the day.
Yep, it's surprisingly comfortable and I like the watch overall. Given how I use it, it's just a newer, cooler design. But I don't need any of the ultra features, unless I get stuck in the automated car wash or there's a 2-3 day line at Starbucks 😂 🤣

Still deciding whether to keep it or go with Series 8. But I really like what they've done overall and love that so many people are excited about this thing. Hope everyone lands on the watch they enjoy 👍 ✌️

I think the Series 8 design will win out in terms of design for me anyway. I'm concerned as well about the obtuse and sharp edges simply hitting things and getting dented.

As an Apple fan I’m beyond disappointed that’s why, it’s a terrible product 99.9% people buying it are not mountain climbers or divers they just want something new because series 8 had nothing

"OMG, I totally don't like or need this new Apple product that totally wasn't designed for me but I bought it anyway because it's new but I don't like it so I'm sending it back"
