ridiculous delay from 7200 rpm HD

i am not trying to... i just want to let you know.

i have my brand new macbook pro right in front of me. what do i see... something yellowish at the bottom of the screen.

yes, i wish you luck. who knows... many these screens got problems...

by the way... i am installing a pirated Windows XP (SP2). everything is going well....
 
If my screen has yellow banding I think I'm gonna cry. I've been waiting weeks for this. Fingers crossed I guess.
 
For anyone who does receive one, can you check the hard drive out and see if it's a Seagate Momentus, like the 17" MBPs have?

Also, week of manufacture? And will they come with OS X 10.4.10 installed (since they shipped well after .10 was released)?
 
my 2.4 matte 7200 that arrived this morning has, i think, a very slight yellowish cast to the lower part of the screen. but it's such a smooth gradient with the upper part that i wouldn't have noticed if i hadn't been looking for it--especially since, like all LCDs that i've seen, the coloration shifts just slightly when you change your viewing angle. i'm completely satisfied. but if you're going to depend on this display to be completely perfect for your serious graphics work (in which case, why don't you use an external display?), be careful.

So... I got my 15" 4g ram 160g (7200) this morning. I played with her for a while. installed Bootcamp - win xp sp2. partition the hard drive at 55% mac 45% pc. the OS X benchmark went down from 3223 to 1727 after the installation. I have no idea why, maybe smaller hard drive space for OS X.

I just got off the phone with Apple. I am sending my brand new MBP back on Monday coz the yellowish crap at the bottom of the screen. Hopefully, I could get the second one in a week.

Waste my time and love.

I know how you feel, My MBP also has the yellow tint and I've been waiting forever cause of that 7200RPM upgrade. Hopefully when it comes in a week, it will be a Matte LG Screen that doesn't have the nasty yellow on the bottom 1/3. If it does, than I think I'm just going to wait and/or buy the one from the apple store where I can look at it immediately. I don't think I can keep playing this waiting and reshipping game.

Swine! Mine is still apparantly in Shanhai, despite it leaving the factory at the same time as yours...

I don't think much of Apple's logistics management!
 
has anyone received their 7200rpm 2.4 mbp's and NOT had the yellow tint problem?

unfortunately, i can't test mine out yet because i'm out of town.. it arrived friday morning and is waiting for me at home!

I changed my color profile, and now I think it seems fine. Was more of a complete yellowness tint somewhat then a lower band.

This is looking promising. I'm guess Monday/Tuesday for most people. Looks like Northampton is the central hub, yours has gone to London and mine is probably on its way to the south west.

My 2.4 15" M 7200 (ordered on the 20th) has been prepared for shipment for 2 or 3 days and still shows shipping/delivery estimates of 01 & 13 August. The midweek flurry of "Hurray, mine's shipped!" posts seems to have dried up. Does anyone know how many times a week they ship to Europe from Shanghai?

Also, is the Chinese weekend similar to the Western weekend - i.e. is that it now until Monday.

Not that I'm impatient or anything.

P.S. Any news on Osprey's machine? Now that's a scary delay.
