Prepared for Shipment

I ordered a 15" MBP with Glossy screen and 160GB/7200rpm drive on June 6 through the apple educational store. The order was listed Ordered June 11 and "Not Yet Shipped Ships by July 24" until today when it changed to "Prepared for Shipment Ships by July 24".

I'm not holding my breath, but at least something is changing...

This is a little off topic I suppose, but I've been thinking (I know really dangerous) and was wondering if Apple might be shipping the 7200s out only when they get a predetermined number ready to go. In other words do they wait until they have "X" number of 7200s ready for shipment rather than shipping on an individual basis (like included with different configurations of MBPs)? It almost seems like from the very beginning the original ship dates were set at two week intervals.

It's more likely the Seagate sends Apple hundreds or thousands of hard drives at a time, one shipment coming every week or two. Apple quickly builds all the MBPs, and then waits for another shipment.

mine has been shipped and is estimated to be at my doorstep the 16th!
perfect timing for right when i get back from my road trip!

koops, any news on yours?

It almost seems like from the very beginning the original ship dates were set at two week intervals. If this is the case, aren't we close to two weeks from when the first ones were shipped out? Of course, this is just speculation, but if valid, it could mean that we are due for another big shipment to go out. I don't mean to imply that they would ever send out just a few at a time, but maybe the 7200s are only shipped with other 7200s. I am probably grasping at straws, but that is what happens when one has waited this long.

Osprey - just cheked my order status and it says preparred for shipment! I could hardly believe my eyes! I was ready to get even more angry with mr jobs , good luck with yours - if its any help I think a call to sales rather than customer service is a good shout - they seem to nknow a little bit more about what they are talking about - but not alot more!

koops, I am really, really happy for you, it is about time and I hope it is a beauty.:) As for me, there is absolutely nothing going on with mine. I said I would wait until Friday the 13th before I bug apple and I intend to stick to my decision. If it is going out next week, I would think I should see some kind of activity soon. The good news is that my Eye-One calibrator has arrived. Obviously some companies do deliver in a timely manner. I am a lot more optimistic about the screen quality (problems) since I read the review that was posted on the forums.

Congratulations again and when you get yours please let us know how much you love it!

The Delivery Status widget just changed to "Prepared for Shipping" Good timing too, since my 4gb of Crucial memory arrived today :D Since this is an exchange (first one was returned due to 1/3 yellow-tint issue), they upped my shipping to expedited. I *may* receive it Saturday - if not, then Monday for sure. And my birthday is July 18 - how very nice :p

Wow, and a Happy Early Birthday to you! I hope this is the one! Saturday delivery would be nice because you would have some time over the weekend to play with it. I'll tell you though, I am starting to feel pretty lonely in this thread as most of you have, or are deserting me. I can see it now, And then there was one...

Don't worry, I;m still with you here, waiting for my replacement!

Seems like I have been posting in this thread forever and I have forgotten, did yours have the yellow tint or another problem? Luckily it seems like the replacements are going out pretty quickly so maybe you won't have to wait too long. Maybe ours will ship at the same time!

Just curious - how did you pay for your purchase? If by credit card, did you contact your credit card company giving them a head's up? That is what I did before I placed the order - called up my credit card company and had the purchase pre-approved by giving them a ballpark figure on what the amount will be charged.

May be you may want to call up your credit card company. Apple pre-charges credit cards ~$1-$2 and reserves a purchase amount. A lot of times credit card companies may deny it for whatever reason, and as a result may be your order keeps getting bumped back of the que.

I feel your pain

Ordered my macbook pro on June 29th with the following configuration:
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x2GB
160GB Serial ATA Drive@7200rpm
SuperDrive 8X
15" Glossy Widescreen Display

The websites says:
Ships by: Jul 11 - Jul 16
Delivers by: Jul 13 - Jul 19

Still hasn't shipped and every day I grow more impatient. I almost expect that Jul 16th will come and I will get an email saying the ship date was pushed back.

Nope, mine is a direct pay. They have authorized the funds on two separate occasions, but both times let them expire. The money is there, ready, available and practically screaming "take me, take me," but unfortunately Apple doesn't seem to hear. So far I have not received the dreaded email stating my delivery time has been delayed. I am almost afraid to check my email any more.

Ugh. Each stage of this process has its frustrations. My MBP (15" M 7200) shipped on 09 July but I still don't have the carrier tracking number, or even the carrier's name, that would allow me to track my order.

The Apecode site helped for a while, and by using my 80... delivery reference number I was able to learn that the flight departed Shanghai on 10 July, but now Apecode's died on me. All I've been able to get since yesterday afternoon is "Feil ved nedlasting", which appears to be Norwegian for "No, you impatient bastard, we're not going to tell you."

I've gone back through this thread and the "Has your order shipped?" thread, searching for reports from other UK purchasers who were at a similar stage, and I think that my order should have arrived at, or passed through, the European Distribution Centre in the Netherlands. It may even be in the UK. Apecode gave an ETA date of 16 July before it shut up shop, having moved down from the 19 July date it gave when I first checked it. Apple still says 20 July or 13 August, depending on where I look.

It can't be that much longer to wait before my MBP arrives, and I know that I'm a lot better off than some, but I'm very envious of those who were able to track their order through the final stages.

Congrats to Koops (sort of, at least it's showing signs of movement) and I'm sorry that there's still no news for Osprey, and anyone else who's beeen waiting since the very beginning.

Hey johnnyjojo, maybe you'll get a pleasant surprise later today (that would be awesome) or are you thinking that that would be too early? If I remember correctly seems like some others in the UK had some issues tracking as well. Anyway I'll keep my fingers crossed and post when you find out something.

Today would be nice but only if I had an approximate time, as I have to leave for work at some point. Tomorrow would be ideal but I'm not sure whether the (as yet unidentified) carrier will deliver on a Saturday. My money's on Monday, which is the worst possible day workwise but they'll just have to do without me for a day.

I have a feeling the display issue was the reason for apple delaying shipment as they have just released a firmware update and suddenly the MBPs are shipping again...

Apple posted the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.3 tonight. Apple only posts a simple description of the 1.8MB update:

This EFI Firmware update fixes a display issue on 2.2/2.4GHz 15-inch MacBook Pro models.

Ordered on 9th June through the Belgian webstore, and today it finally shipped. ETA 19th July. Was so relieved to finally see an update on the status page :)

It's shipped!

I know the feeling :) I ordered mine on the 25th of June with an estimated shipping date of August the 6th. Last night, the order status changed to "Pending Shipping" and today to "Shipped" with an ETA of the 21st of July. I thought I was being patient but it seems you've had a longer wait still. If I'm feeling impatient, I'll remember that other have had a much longer wait and still remained sane.

At least the log jam of back orders seems to be clearing :)

Oh... by the way, this is my first Mac... and my first post here... so... w00t!

UPDATE: Just rechecked, mere hours after the shipping notification. The expected delivery date is now next Wednesday, the 18th. :)
