Not sure about stock but it works for me on my att s4 on a i9505 rom (have tried on omega, foxhound and wanamlite).
What extras does CM 10.1 have over the Google Edition ROM?
There's a lot more but I can't think of any because of how happy I am right now. One of the CM devs working on the S4 just said he found a fix for the no-sound in calls that you sometimes get in CM on the S4! The fix will be in the next nightly (23/7).
QUESTION ?
How easy / hard is it to flash Google Edition Rom or CM onto an S4 ?
Someone wants to swap the cheap BB Z10 I picked up for a 'mist' (would have preferred white) S4 and i'm tempted but ONLY if I can get rid of Touchwiz completely. I just can't bare it........
What type of S4? i9505? If so it's very easy.
Yeah the i9505 (standard snapdragon model)....
Yeah the i9505 (standard snapdragon model)....
Takes like 10 minutes tops
Root, install recovery, and install the rom
Cool. Do you have a link or such, I assume its over on XDA

I've been running AOKP for about three weeks now. Rock solid.
-Download Odin - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1954816&d=1368307196
-Download CF-Auto-Root - http://download.chainfire.eu/316/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip
-Extract them both.
-Put S4 into Download Mode - VolDown+Home+Power
-Start the Odin .exe
-Press PDA and select the .tar.md5 you extracted
-Make sure Repartition isn't selected
-Press Start
-Download CWM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?-attachmentid=1954816&d=1368307196
-Extract it
-Repeat steps 4-8 from above
-Flash Triangle Away to reset the flash counter - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
-Download ROM to storage and go into CWM (VolUp+Home+Power), wipe data/factory reset, and flash.
-WOO!
Of course, all this assumes you're on or have access to Windows.
Great stuff appreciated, is parallels enough or will I need to do it for bootcamp?
I recommend TWRP over CWM for the recovery, it's more fully featured and far nicer to use IMO. If you dislike it, at least install PhilZ Advanced, it's basically CWM with more features.
CWM is pretty old hat these days.
I'm not sure if you will be able to install the Samsung USB drivers (downloaded here) and have them work correctly in a VM. You can try it but I'd recommend BootCamp.
If you'd like TWRP, just download the .tar here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/jfltexx and replace the Download CWM step.
Awesome!
I just swapped my HTC One for a Galaxy S4 about 30 minutes ago. I rooted it, and am wanting to install a ROM.
Do you guys prefer CM10 or the Google Edition ROMs? An issues with either? Such as tethering/data settings didn't work on the GE ROM for the HTC One.
Thanks for any help
False alarm. He thought he fixed it but it didn't
Back to TouchWiz for me. Using Omega until they fix this damned call bug.

Do it. Do it now!!!
Have till Thursday to decide but yeah I'm seriously tempted- simply if I decide not to keep it it will have better resell value than the Z10 anyway
But yeah it was Touchwiz that made me give up an S4 previously, I'd only keep it if I could dump Touchwiz forever....
I'd say keep the Z10. If you get the GS4, you'll basically have two identical devices that look different. Unless you really plan on selling the Z10 anytime soon, or just hate it, I'd keep it.
CM10 is better than the google edition roms. Everything works in cm as its built from source. The google edition rom is a hacky port.
