True, only the GOLD edition has the stitching.

Interesting observation on the stitching for the Edition rev 2 band only :)

Rev 1 Classic Buckle band

Rev 2 Classic Buckle band

After comparing the current Edition rev 2 Classic Buckle band with my rev 2 Classic Buckle band I indeed saw an additional stitching.

black (stitching): http://www.apple.com/shop/buy-watch...classic-buckle?product=MLFH2LL/A&step=detail#
blue (stitching): http://www.apple.com/shop/buy-watch...classic-buckle?product=MLE52LL/A&step=detail#

Strange this extra stitching is on the Edition band only....

At first I was wondering if people were talking about the filleting at the edge and seeing something inside the channel (actually the filleting is one of the details I don't like personally although many here seem to--I have the 1st classic band which doesn't have it and which to me looks pressed in or embossed sort of). But yeah, seeing your photos of the Edition version of the bands, there definitely is that fine stitching added. I do think it adds a level of detailing that is appealing to the eye and so sure they would sell those bands with the Edition watches. Matching thread color on both upper and lower leathers. Still simple and classic but a little step above. Funny how the smallest details make a difference and set things apart.

Thanks for the photos. I like the blue band. Wonder if that color will be added to the Watch line up. Love to see a nice red and a white too.

Yeah, I fully agree if you have something with watches and real leather you duly miss some stitching on the strap. even subtile as on the Editions.. Please read this great article from Mike Rundle: https://medium.com/@flyosity/inconvenient-truths-about-the-apple-watch-11bafa44551b#.i9xx81mog

On the other colors you sound too greedy :)

For me the filleting makes it attractive. I prefer Gen2. The saddle brown is beautiful, second only to the Barenia Hermes for me. Soft and smooth texture.

Dude, you just reminded me to put the Hermès strap on again, switching from the black Classic Buckle :D

Regarding stitching, i found this link that talks about it: http://ankhstrap.com/leatherpage1.html

Stitching usually makes the band stiffer and mainly there for appearance!

Quote: "This design was developed because in the early 20th century, the glues used with leather straps weren't of high quality, and so straps came apart from wear and humidity - the problem is not existent anymore, and stitching is ornamental these days."

As far as i can tell with a loupe, Saddle Brown band is two pieces of leather glued together. No filler. The inside leather is obviously cheaper than the outer one.

Ok, just an update. I used a more powerful loupe. There are THREE layers. The outer layer is the calf leather. There is the inside layer (what touches your wrist). In the middle is a layer of something...that has fibers...like felt pad fibers. The outside calf leather layer is not thin like paper and is maybe slightly thinner than the felt layer...so, it will likely not wear through.

I've just received the strap, and it's soft and comfortable. I kinda like Nomad's Apple watch strap, but I am not sure about the third party straps.

would it be possible to add a deployment clasp to this band? based on the pictures, i am assuming it is not easily doable.

You should be able to. The buckle is attached to the band on the INSIDE of buckle with regular pin i believe.

In fact I have both in front of me but they are both very different...and both gorgeous :)

You have to remove the buckle but why would you do that ? IMO a deployment clasp has three functions: less wear of leather, style. and easy of use.

What I don't like about most after market deployment clasps are their ugly logo's. That is different if you would have an Apple deployment clasp though ;)

The buckle on the Classic is simply the best that i have seen. The leather end is tucked INSIDE of the buckle. Beautiful! The buckle itself is round and smooth; thus, less stress on the leather when you put it on or take it off. And the tang fits so perfectly into the buckle...flushed fitting. And lastly, the buckle does NOT sit at the bottom of the band when worn where it gets banged onto the surface...due to properly designed length of both bands.

These are the details that you simply do not see in normal average bands. Deployment clasp is nice, but a lot of the aftermarket ones are poor fitting and makes a huge bulge at the bottom of your wrist.

Jony and his teams designs 200% well over thought products, believe me. I some cases perhaps too much... as it s all too perfect and gives not much space for alternative interpretations

Trouble in paradise. :(

My saddle brown band will go back to Apple Store. On the retainer loop (to hold excess band), the leather on it is being peeled back at the edge. I read this somewhere on here i think that the retainer loop does this...not as well made as the rest of band. The band itself is great, nice thick leather. But the loop is very thin layer from what i read/see.

I will see what Apple Store says...not sure i want another saddle brown because it will just repeat because the retainer loop is what contacts the table/surface with the way that i am wearing it.

I have had this saddle brown for about a month.

Maybe back to my midnight blue sport band for now.....

The retainer is glued not stitched.

Bummer. This might be another incentive to buy the Hermès

Thats what I thought. I fell in love with it in instagram and rushed to buy it. In it's simplicity it pales in comparison with the technology used in the other bands and then people miss the elaborate design proccess it went through. To me is perfect.

There are no magnets or woven metal o carefully sized links so it looks "normal", like an avergae band. Then you notice the buckle, how it fusions with the leather, the extremely finished edges which fit with the Apple design standards, the ease of closing it.. simply gorgeous although the process of putting the watch in your arm resembles the normal watch process.

It's like the sport bands. Why do they come with the S/M and L sizes? Because they are inexpensive? No. It's because the holes are aligned in a way so that the holes in the small band are located in the space between the holes of the second band. So any person can wear any of the sizes because more than a matter of wrist size is a matter of how tight you want it.
