Has anyone actually considered asking Apple? I know for a fact that Apple Support can still give you redeem codes for old App Store releases that are not publicly available. If you have a specific issue with the latest version, you might get lucky.

Hello all. I've just registered in order to participate in this discussion. Can't set up a profile because I get a message saying I'm spamming - likewise can't start a conversation. I understand there need to be safeguards but i really can't see what I'm doing wrong. Any advice?

I have a refurbished Mid-2014 MacBook Pro I purchased in October 2015. It came with Yosemite installed. I've checked purchases in the Mac App Store and Yosemite download is not showing.

How, if possible, do I take advantage of the fact that this laptop came with Yosemite and should be eligible for a Yosemite download in order to do a fresh install?

Also, when Apple does bestow Yosemite upon a user in this situation, how is it delivered? Do they give a special link? Does it magically appear in Purchases? Is it sent on a USB in the mail?

If I'm unable to retrieve Yosemite through Apple I'll be PM'ing one of you so I can send my ready-and-waiting USB. :(

[ Edit: just to clarify, I am trying to obtain the full Yosemite installer. I do not actually need to reinstall the MBP. I have a Mac Pro running Mavericks and I want to install Yosemite onto that computer. I was too slow and didn't obtain the installer before Apple pulled it from the store.]

You can't. Yosemite is gone and no longer available for purchase, so if you don't already have it in your purchases list, there is now no way to get it there. Apple does not sell or otherwise provide a way to get Yosemite now.

Thanks for making it clear. I have missed the Yosemite boat and now get to decide whether to find an alternate source or jump to El Capitan.

hi
i am also looking for a safe yosemite download, i'm on snow leopard and have waited too long to upgrade to yosemite...
anybody can help please?
thanks

I too am looking for an unmolested Install OS X Yosemite.app
I have searched various torrents and can't seem to find one or a safe one for that matter. Half of the ones still available aren't even the final build.
I need it for SFOTT

PM if you still need and found none. A cloud is needed for large files.

I am in need of yosemite, unfortunately never got it on the app store. But I have a question is it possible to upgrade to the final 10.10.10 from an earlier version of yosemite still? Like 10.10.5? Or should I for just look for the final?

I might be wrong but 10.10.5 I believe to be the final version of Yosemite.
As to getting it, people openly offering it to others risk to be banned by the moderators in the same way as if offering some stolen application infringing copyrights.
I have already received a serious warning some time ago for trying to help someone with that same request and cannot risk it again.
Next time I might be banned from this forum.
You can PM me and maybe a solution can be found somehow for your problem.

ahhh, thank you, I must've been misinformed then about the 10.10.10 not sure where I read that then.

Hi, I'm looking for confirmation regarding part of the process of reverting to Yosemite from El Capitan, for the purpose of being able to use musical hardware for which there is no upgrade to El Capitan.

Now, I don't have my own backup, so I should get one or buy one - a 10.10.5 version, such as the one here: http://www.amazon.com/Mac-Yosemite-...qid=1463061130&sr=8-1&keywords=yosemite+10.10

And after that, I just need to locate the most trustworthy instructions online.

I don't need to get anything else, do I? Does this seem a plausible plan? Sorry for any naivety, I don't know much about computers, but I'm trying to learn.

I'm tempted to post 10.10.5 installer to Dropbox i keep backups of installers i download from Apple, but probably against the rules here.

Amazon has this available, wouldn't break the bank to try it out.
It may just be my security habits, but I would never trust an operating system that didn't come from the manufacturer. Given the importance of such an item, I couldn't be comfortable using something that a third-party could have tampered with.

Thanks for the link. I'm desperate.
Apple has boxed me in a corner.
- I had to move to iOS 9 because I'm getting a new iPad Air 2 with iOS 9. Right before my purchase I upgraded all our other iOS devices so the features would be the same.
- The iOS 9 update got rid of my iOS Pages files (~600 of them). So, I had to upgrade to iCloud Drive to get the Pages files back in iOS.
- But then iCloud Drive screwed up my Pages syncing because my iMac is using Mountain Lion. (I've researched the problem for days and Apple Support could not help.)
- I have to upgrade my iMac to at least Yosemite to get my Pages syncing back.
But like others in this thread, I have music software / CD labeling apps on my iMac that even with updates will not work with El Capitan.

I checked the Amazon reviews about the linked item and they are almost all positive.
I'll trust Amazon with this one.
** Again, Apple forced me into this decision (unless I stopped buying new Apple tablets/phones/PCs).
This whole thing has been a major hassle.

Can someone please tell me the checksum/hash for the Yosemite installer?
I found a copy, but I'm not sure I trust it.

Thank you.
