I'm starting to see the point in the Alpha...

If Samsung could just undercut the iPhone massively on price - I'm talking Nexus 5 levels - then it would sell like hot cakes.

even just a minor cost savings would be significant imo

wish they kept the sd card, but this thing could be nice

if there was google edition / android silver, i'd be very interested in this product line

more smaller premium android phones pls :)

I think Samsung want to set themselves up as a premium company, at least when it comes to their flagships so I can't see them selling this on the cheap. It would contradict the premium image they are trying to give the phone too.

I like the angular design, but the specs are nothing to get excited about.

If it's a taste of whats to come though, awesome.

I wonder what the Verge will have to bitch about once Samsung go premium?

What is interesting about the specs is......look at the benchmarks in the GSMarena article. The benchmarks are actually pretty good.

No interest in this one, it is time for bezel less phones...

Here you go! almost bezel-free

There is no sense arguing with blatant fanboyism.....
Your basic argument is Apple good....whatever Samsung does is bad......I get it.....done.......

We could say the same about your posts....
I have just one word about this Samsung underwhelming device: pathetic. In every single aspect. But I wouldn't expect anything else by Samsung.

Got his from another thread concerning the Galaxy Alpha, It might turnout to be a great performer!
Check Out the bench scores.....

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_alpha-review-1114p3.php

Samsung and synthetic benchmarks ? C'mon be serious

----------

Did you look at the benchmark page?

Do you mean the one linked by "SamsungArena" ? Are you really giving credits to gsmArena ? That website is just a nest of Samsung fanboys (and I mean the editors !) ... They overrated every single Samsung products, and somewhat criticized every competitors ...
And Samsung has a tradition in cheating on synthetics benchmarks that we know very well ... The "eight cores" fantastic CPU used in the galaxy alpha is made by 4 aging A15 and 4 low-end A7 .... nothing to call home about. It's 2H 2014 ... Qualcomm is going to release Snapdragon 810 ...
720P , PenTile, when the standard for high end devices is 1080P ?
No sd cards support ?
600 € price tag ?
Apple-esque styling just to try the "premium" way ?

That's Samsung at its best.
Look at the Lumia 930 ... You could like it or not, but it used a metal frame with its own distinctive style. What do you think looking at the Galaxy Alpha ? They used someone else's style ....

Wow! That Lumia 930 looks nice and has it's own unique style. Samsung probably should have copied that since it's the lesser known device and probably would have had blogs writing about Samsung innovation.

I hate to say it but the metal does look just like the iPhone 5 /5S although overall the phone does not look like an iPhone.

The metal does improve it a little. But there is no way it is a copy of the iphone.....

Come on now. You really gonna make that claim with a straight face? Every Android Forum out there is bashing SamSung on this phone and yet you don't see it?

First of all, the entire design of the phone is a rip off of Apple. One physical button at the bottom? Ok so the button is not a circle like on Apple's iPhone but seriously?

Look at the lock screen? Time/Date slightly off location wise to not exactly be like iOS. The camera icon as well. Let's be serious here.

Agreed. I don't think it is a bad phone either with the exception of the battery. Seems a little small, but hopefully once the reviews come out we'll get a better idea about it.

Did you look at the images? You seriously would walk in to a store and walk out with an Alpha thinking it was an iPhone?

Is the Alpha targeted release to coincide witht he release of the iPhone 6? You bet! Is the Alpha released just to take as many iPhone customers as possible? You bet it is.....and?
But you can't look at those images and think it looks like the iPhone.
There are several rumored releases at the beginning of Sept. Including the rumored Moto X +1. Are they copying Apple too? C'mon.....

Wait, hasn't it got two soft buttons to the sides of the home button (which aren't visible when not lighted). That would be weird..

Other than that: This phone is nothing like an iPhone (look wise)..

EDIT: Having a closer look at the pics there are soft buttons..

I don't see the problem.

You keep showing Samsung's lock screen compared to a an unlock iOS screen? How about show an iOS lock screen like this:
