They didn't copy an Apple product. They went off a rumor so they could be "first," and now they just look like idiots.

You seriously don't get the difference between plastic and metal, do you? Christ. You have to look at the design of these things. The Alpha very clearly pulls from several Apple design elements, single buttons on the front of the device, lack of patterning, beveled edge on the side. They even have the same colors! LG hasn't done beveled metal edges nor have they copied Apple's color choices. Samsung has now done both, and your defense of them is getting less and less cohesive. Heck, even the ad for it could have been an Apple ad:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8OZoyHvX78

I would never say Samsung copies Apple with their TVs. Apple doesn't make TVs, they don't even really compete with Samsung in that realm, unless you consider the Apple TV. I'd really prefer you lay off the ad hominems and straw men as well, it doesn't help your case.

Dude....your overdosing on the Kool-Aid.....going in directions that...I don't where you get what your coming from or where your going but I'm done......

Look at the post above you and read it. Frankly I'm done with you, I don't even like Kool Aid but you've been reduced to ad hominem. If you get reduced to ad hominem and then stop debating, suffice it to say you don't have an argument.

There is no sense arguing with blatant fanboyism.....
Your basic argument is Apple good....whatever Samsung does is bad......I get it.....done.......

Dude.....really?

Nothing about the post is fanboyism. Frankly, to ignore what is an obvious business practice of Samsung's is pretty "fanboyish" on their side.

Oh ya....you have me on ignore because you couldn't argue my points either.

Again with the ad hominem. Perhaps you see us as blatant fanboys because you're looking in a mirror. Nobody else in this thread has defended Samsung as vehemently as you have. I haven't said what Samsung does is bad. I've acknowledged that Apple doesn't have the right to copy Samsung. I haven't even said that what Apple does is good. I've acknowledged that there are good Android OEMs, and that's not even enough for you.

And I'm the fanboy? Fine. If that makes me a fanboy, then it's a name I'm proud to have.

I'm probably on ignore now too. Unfortunately it seems Samsung fanboys can't handle the logic. I wonder if it's because their position is illogical. ;)

This isn't my fight but I'll add my 2 cents. Everyone knows the Alpha is a blatant copy of Apple design. It's not Samsung's first attempt and it wont be their last. Samsung doesn't innovate, they copy. It baffles me how folks flock to an organization like this. Android forums are dogging Samsung left and right on this iPhone clone.

Apple copies stuff as well. With that said, with everyone from Microsoft to Google copying Apple over the years, can anyone blame Apple for joining in as well?

Thanks. I was starting to worry I'd actually drank some Kool Aid. That ****'s nasty though.

What exactly has Apple copied? I mean, aside from the obvious Sherlocking. Have they copied a lot hardware wise?

No, I'm just thinking of Android features.

Notification center, 3rd party keyboards, multitasking sure there are more

I'm not complaining and glad ios is evolving

Exactly. I'm not complaining at all. I love iOS and competition makes things better for the consumer.

Multitasking has been in iOS since 2010. Not sure when it entered Android.

What about Notification Center is a copy?

There are a lot of security issues with 3rd party keyboards on Android. They probably just wanted to secure it as much as possible before releasing it.

I believe android had all those items first. Really don't want to argue about it :)

I concur with this. It's just like Windows Phone just now getting Cortana and Do Not Disturb. We all know where they copied them from even if their implementation is slightly different. It's really no big deal either at least for me.

I don't either, but Apple multitasking was extremely primitive at first. And Notification Center still looks rather different.

And early indications are that pricing is going to be pretty close to all other flagships.

Until this point I found most of the claims of Samsung copying Apple to be pretty much nonsense but moves like this are going to do nothing to squash those claims, and I can't say I disagree. This purely screams 'Can't beat 'me, join 'em.'
Been feeling this way since the announcement of the S4. The S3 was great and a game changer. It gave Samsung the breath of fresh air it needed. Since then though, I've been disappointed. As for this Alpha phone... Expect zero sales outside of subsidized countries at the price they are asking. Given a choice, the iPhone 6 will blow this thing out of the water in every department and cost the same.

That wall paper is nice. I think, it is good. It is cross of s5 and iphone. I would like to get this metal bezel for my S5. Not many pics of blue color one.
Image

I think it looks pretty good. Specs are respectable. As an S5 owner though, I think this would be a step backwards in nearly every way.

It would have been nice if that build DNA had been applied to the S5 to begin with.

agreed......I think it was meant to be a mid range phone...it sure doesn't impress me.
I am curious about the two processors...is one for voice recognition for always on voice controls like the Moto X does?

Am I the only one who doesn't give a sheeeet about who copies who, or who adds which feature first ?

I care about having a decent end user experience whether that be in iOS, windows or android.

They all copy / inspire / take elements from each other, and often it's not about being first, it's about the refinement .... refining an idea / concept to the point where it works for the end user.

Apple have historically done this, why not others? Who cares really ? Just give me the best experience you can give me .....

Absolutely don't quote me on this because I have no formal expertise, however I believe Samsung's Exynos chips have had this type of configuration for a while now. While being listed as an 'octacore' CPU, I believe they act like independent quad cores where the device uses the lower power quad unless needing to perform more intensive functions where it'll use the more powerful one. I don't think the device ever utilizes all eight cores simultaneously, but again, don't quote me on it. ;)

Are there even Android apps designed to take advantage of quad cores? 8 cores? Sounds more like spec sheet hype than actual usefulness.

A bit like the 64 bit chip for now eh?

As others have said the phone is a downgrade from the S5 which I own. This doesn't interest me in the slightest.
