My Note (exynos) gets warm when updating and fastcharging wirelessly but nothing I'd call hot, let alone overheating.
Every single phone gets hot whilst charging wirelessly.

No issues. You won't be disappointed. For me this phone has it all. Performance and looks. If you do buy one outright, Microsoft store in the US has a really good sale.
It certainly has it all, including the worst fingerprint sensor imaginable and a weird occasional scrolling glitch.

It's more warm than hot but yeah.

re: the fingerprint scanner, I think I'm the only person who wants it back on the rear until the sensing area is larger.
I could unlock my phone before I could look at it when the scanner was on the rear of my note 8 and 9, you could feel where you put your finger and muscle memory made it easy.

I find my fps to be extremely reliable. Not as good as an optical but still very good.
I had to start using the eye scanner because my fingerprint registered maybe 20% of the time. Never had a phone with a fingerprint scanner even remotely as bad as this one.

Mine works fine when I can find it.
I use both face and finger and unlock in safe places.

I'd have exchanged it as a faulty phone.
My mate has the S20 Ultra and says his fingerprint scanner is pony too. Plus I have read numerous people slating the Note 10 scanner. I very much doubt that mine is fauly and if so there are a heck of a lot of faulty N10/S10/S20 phones out there.

Can't have set it up as best you can then. If it's not faulty and you're only getting a 20% success rate, it can't be. It's improved over the S10 and I easily get 80/90%.

It was trash on the S10 too

Note 20 is said to come with a new ultrasonic scanner this year

I only had my note 10+ for 8 days but I didn’t really have an issue with the FPS. It wasn’t has good as a capacitive one but it was a lot better than I expected. An FPS is better now because the Face ID struggles with masks.

Had the Note10 for 9 months and had no issues with the fingerprint sensor at all. Always worked.

I would even say it was on par with TouchID I used on the home button iPhones of the past.

I think the fingerprint recording is key. Plus the clarity of the actual prints on the fingers must play a part.

Anyway, it's the same experience on the S20+ since yesterday. No failed attempts.

My 2 pence..

My Note 10+ has the worst fingerprint sensor I've ever used on any phone. It's so bad that it's unuseable and I've had to switch the feature off. Absolutely dire. It's all over the forums how crud the sensor is. Comparing it to Apple TouchID? No way. No contest whatsoever. Even the sensor on my Huawei M5 tablet has 100% success rate. The Samsung in-screen FP sensor is total garbage and according to my friend the S20 Ultra FP sensor is dogmuck too.

I wonder if the Note will get a similar update that the s20 fps just received since they use the same sensor. The s20 plus fps was pretty average until the last update. I'm noticing a little better recognition but a lot smoother transition and unlock once registered. No more stutter and stupid ripple animation.

I'd agree with the sentiment that yours might be faulty.
I use mine all the time without issue.

Hmm. Many are faulty then and it's a bit ot a coincidence that my friend's S20 Ultra is faulty too. Perhaps these sensors only work with certain fingers so to speak? Perhaps it's down to natural oils and how prominent the fingerprint itself is? Or perhaps the screen protector? I am runnimg the included Samsung one and intend to keep it that way.

I have a scratched up AliExpress plastic screen protector on mine, the factory screen protector lasted a month before I had to replace it.

For a test, I locked and unlocked my phone about 20 times when I wrote my previous comment.
I had to double touch it once.

I use my fingerprint scanner and facial recognition all the time.
My fingerprint has replaced all passwords for everything, the passwords still work but it's so much easier to use my fingerprint.

At home I have safe places allowed do the screen doesn't lock.

When I registered my fingerprints, I did my right index and thumb and left index.
Right index is my most used and because if that I registered it three times, the other two I registered them on different angles.

Maybe it is the oils or such but I work in automotive and use a lot of handcleaner, my fingers aren't what you call perfect by any means.

My bet is of you re-registered you fingerprint multiple times at different angles and got rid of the crappy screen protector, fit another screen protector, your hit rate would improve.

I know, ...you shouldn't have to, but it is what it is.

I hope you get it sorted, it would bug the hell out of me as I use it for so many other things than just unlocking the phone.

Good luck.

PS, here's the screen protector I use..

At this point in the year I was hoping for some really great price drops for the Note 10+ as we're into heavy Note 20 rumors/leaks, alas there's only been a few deals knocking off less than £200 off. Needs to be cheaper for me to bite knowing the lack of future support.

As much as I've considered all the other brands I think I want to go with Samsung to get into an alternative ecosystem from Apple. I still have a heavy question mark on the PWM effects as I can't use Apples implementation. Do people find this an issue on the Note 10+ (if you've been sensitive to PWM)?

Wow Note10'

Forget any discounts from Samsung store in the near future , they are very tight with that, but some resellers will surprise you with up to 25% discount.

Not sure about your country but here it happens few times a year.
