Screen looks great. Samsung screens always do - although I have mine set to 'Natural' and not 'Vivid' which just makes it look horrendous IMO.

I’m considering the regular Note 10 but just wondered how the screen was for sharpness as it’s not 1440p.

I much prefer the smaller size for pocket ability and had considered the regular S10 but much prefer the squared off look of the Note.

I wouldn't imagine a difference is even discernible to the eye?
That kind of thing really doesn't bother me though. I guess I can understand those who wouldn't buy an XR for the LCD, but you're getting a great OLED panel here and everything you view on it looks great.

I like the size a lot - I know for a fact I wouldn't be comfortable with a Plus particularly with that curved screen too as it would just be false touch hell. I have small hands though, so those with bigger hands probably wouldn't have as many issues.

Just go setting/wallpapers and themes. I use pixelize icon pack plus rootless pixel launcher to get that pixel look and feel.

That and Lawnchair. I have noticed though that when I use Samsung phones, I usually end up staying on the OneUI launcher.

What was your husband’s original ship date?
I think he said it’s supposed to be delivered 9/4. He’s still asleep so I don’t know if he’s gotten any updated shipping info yet. He still insisted he meant to cancel and does not want this phone. I don’t think he will still feel that way when he’s got it all set up and running. He doesn’t even use wired headphones which was my sticking point with this phone.

He doesn’t have any sticking points other than he isn’t sure it’s worth the bother of upgrading over the S10+ when the S11 is next and is rumored to have the camera upgrades he really wants. That is a very reasonable, sensible consideration for him.

But getting this phone won’t prevent him from trading to an S11 when they come out. I think he should chill out and enjoy it. He’s worked hard and done with very little luxuries most of his life and doesn’t have time for hobbies. If he doesn’t kick back now, when else is he going to get the chance.

Guys. Dammit. That Aura Black is still sitting at Best Buy waiting for someone to pick it up as my Aura Glow preorder still says “Delivery by Sept 10”.

Quick question....does samsung have the text to speech like ios in terms of highlighting text and having the assistant read it out loud for you? Been trying to figure it out in settings and coming up empty handed.

Not having any real experience in this area but I think you will find although Samsung phones have many features and some of the best engines via google to help people with different disabilities

Marking a piece of random text on the screen to be read out loud does not fit in to the category as obviously you are not so visually impaired if you can mark the text on a small screen (Sorry in advance if I have this wrong)

You may need an app to do this as the main text to speech engines are to help navigate or directly interact with your device (eg messages or callers) or specific to books readers etc is my understanding

I wouldn't move from an S10+ to a Note 10+ but then I would always stick on a yearly Note cycle. Swapping every 6 months between S and N phones is crrrrrrrazy!

The rumoured camera upgrades next year would keep me on the S10 if I was an S user anyway. Still, I'm on a Note 9 and am questioning the validity of an upgrade this year. Phones are so darned expensive these days and with very little to show for the extra outlay.

I read that due to people keeping hold of their phones longer partly due to market saturation and partly due to diminishing returns, the manufacturers have had to up their prices to keep the money coming in. I feel ripped off paying £1100 for a new smartphone which essentially does nothing my present one can't do...

Believe me or not, just did a camera test with my V50 next to the note 10+ and LG did better job. On the other hand the note selfie camera is from another planet. Also the note failed behind regular s10. Maybe the note needs some time for upgrades, then comparing with other phones.
Thinking about Dxomark....
[doublepost=1566672096][/doublepost]Another weird thing I noticed is that the viewfinder from selfie is way better than the actual photo. Please check.

I find that hard to believe about the front camera. All the samples I’ve seen while not bad, don’t scream "from another planet". Isn’t it the same sensor as the S10?

Whilst I understand where your coming from most are not paying £1100 for a new phone most are paying a few hundred $ after generous trade-ins etc

Sure the UK deals are poor this year but most fared much better :)

I got my Note 10 plus yesterday from Best Buy and man this thing is sweet. But I will say, the extra savings was not worth the hassle that Best Buy sent us through with this pre-order. My last two pre-orders were also a mess with that company and I will never do business with them again on a pre-order after this.

I had my order in on the 18th with a pickup on the 23rd. On Thursday me and many others online got text messages from BB saying an issue with our mobile order came up and we had to call them. When we tried to call them, there were hours of hold time wait. I tried 3 times to call in Thursday to have never gotten through after waiting 3 hours, and another 2 hours at the end of day for them to disconnect me because all the reps went home. So I called at 7am Friday, 11 minute wait, then got transferred to back office, and then had a 2 hour wait. Come to find out Best Buy and AT&T and Verizon all had issues with submitting the IMEI numbers and the carriers couldn't accept them for some reason. So BB back office once they picked up, called AT&T with me (or they wouldn't do anything with your order and you wouldn't have gotten your phone till its done), and had AT&T input the imei # BB tells them into their system so BB could get it activated on their system to make pickup available. After all that was done, within 2 hours, I was able to pick it up at BB by noon.

Every year BB has issues, and I am really surprised they have not gotten a solid way of handling this yet.

The battery on my Note 10 plus so far has been awesome. Way better than any device I have ever owned. The screen is brilliant, the camera takes awesome pictures, and its a very light phone for it's size. I will have to report later once I use it more though. But I will say the in screen FPS sensor works a lot better than it did on my s10 plus.

So jealous. How does the Aura Glow look to you in person. In pics it looks great but the Best Buy display model looked less than stellar. I do get that probably hundreds of different hands put fingerprints on it though.

Just a couple of thoughts since using this thing virtually all day.

I'll start by saying - for those who missed it - I've only bought this with the view to return it in the returns window as my Pixel 3 is currently being replaced by Google and I'm phoneless for two weeks. I could be tempted to stick with the Note 10 if I like it, but I'd already told myself I wouldn't end up doing that as me and Samsung generally don't go too well together.

Anyway, after a day's heavy use including setting the phone up, taking a ton of pictures and just using it as I would normally day to day, I really like it...

Samsung have made a really nice phone here, but I did think the same about the S10 which I owned briefly earlier in the year.
They certainly know how to do hardware anyway.

Curved screens are not really my bag at all, but the smaller device means less false touches (so far) which is welcome. I went with the smaller N10.

I really dislike anything other than stock Android, but seeing as I'm using this for two weeks I have decided to go with One UI and see how it treats me. I actually don't mind it too much. There are some nice tweaks, like not having to press and hold and app and then drag it to the top of the screen to uninstall, or remove from home. Just press it for a set of options - much better.

The haptics need to be mentioned. I know I posted on it earlier, but they're fantastic. The best Android haptics I've used yet (along with Pixel 3). They just feel great when typing on Gboard. Props to Samsung.

I have took a load of photos today with the phone and it really hasn't disappointed me at all. I have always found Samsung phones to have reliable, fast to shoot cameras, and this is no different.

Some shots taken today:

It never really misfired - sometimes 'live focus' would focus on the wrong thing and I'd get blur, but that aside it's really nice.
I do still prefer the Pixel camera hands down though.

Battery life has been a bit rubbish today, it came with like 40% and then I charged it after set up and it's never been over 50% as I've unplugged it and then used it heavily. Therefore I am reserving judgement until I've tested more.

There was a lot of bloat to remove - like Samsung Pay which I can't use (my bank doesn't support it) and I don't want so that's had to go. Same with a few other Samsung things (Bixby), but good I can turn them off.

I am missing the Google feed from Pixel, but I have just placed the Google app onto my homescreen which does the same job.
I have also taken up colouring with the stylus...

So relaxing! I can see me using the stylus for that alone.

Oh and for the odd note.

So far I don't hate it / want to run back to a Pixel.
I still prefer the Pixel overall just for the user experience it gives.

But the screen of the Note is so immersive it is crazy. It really is fantastic.

I will play a bit more with it over the weekend (bank holiday, yay!) and see how I feel about it then. So far though I'm really impressed.

So you upgraded from the note 8 then?

My plan for upgrading from the Note 10+ to a third gen Fold could not be better planned after reading this article. I'm confident Samsang will have this tech ready even before the 3rd gen fold. This would definitely be a game changer for many users.

Awesome day one review. I’m with you in that I generally prefer Pixels, but I think I could actually live with that camera based on the shots that you posted.
