I just want the Pixel to be released so I can make my decision....

The only problem with the Pixel release is that it’s not just the release date, but probably low supply and then based on history, hardware problems with the first couple batches.

My thought is that if it gets to around Christmas time and I am for some reason really unhappy with the Note 10+, then I could look at the Pixel 4.

Supply for the last 2 Pixels has been really good in the UK, so that's not a worry. But I definitely wouldn't want a repeat of sending back 3 Pixels like the 2XL. But I'm confident it'll be much better this time.

My only concern is can they get the battery to a decent standard like the 3a XL which is pretty much on par with class leading Huawei.

This is cool - it's a 'live' lock screen so all the parts have different coloured LED lights that light up.
Sweet!

But it looks like it's for the S10 Plus... camera cut out... lol. No wonder it was free.:D

Just a couple of thoughts since using this thing virtually all day.

I'll start by saying - for those who missed it - I've only bought this with the view to return it in the returns window as my Pixel 3 is currently being replaced by Google and I'm phoneless for two weeks. I could be tempted to stick with the Note 10 if I like it, but I'd already told myself I wouldn't end up doing that as me and Samsung generally don't go too well together.

Anyway, after a day's heavy use including setting the phone up, taking a ton of pictures and just using it as I would normally day to day, I really like it...

Samsung have made a really nice phone here, but I did think the same about the S10 which I owned briefly earlier in the year.
They certainly know how to do hardware anyway.

Curved screens are not really my bag at all, but the smaller device means less false touches (so far) which is welcome. I went with the smaller N10.

I really dislike anything other than stock Android, but seeing as I'm using this for two weeks I have decided to go with One UI and see how it treats me. I actually don't mind it too much. There are some nice tweaks, like not having to press and hold and app and then drag it to the top of the screen to uninstall, or remove from home. Just press it for a set of options - much better.

The haptics need to be mentioned. I know I posted on it earlier, but they're fantastic. The best Android haptics I've used yet (along with Pixel 3). They just feel great when typing on Gboard. Props to Samsung.

I have took a load of photos today with the phone and it really hasn't disappointed me at all. I have always found Samsung phones to have reliable, fast to shoot cameras, and this is no different.

Some shots taken today:

It never really misfired - sometimes 'live focus' would focus on the wrong thing and I'd get blur, but that aside it's really nice.
I do still prefer the Pixel camera hands down though.

Battery life has been a bit rubbish today, it came with like 40% and then I charged it after set up and it's never been over 50% as I've unplugged it and then used it heavily. Therefore I am reserving judgement until I've tested more.

There was a lot of bloat to remove - like Samsung Pay which I can't use (my bank doesn't support it) and I don't want so that's had to go. Same with a few other Samsung things (Bixby), but good I can turn them off.

I am missing the Google feed from Pixel, but I have just placed the Google app onto my homescreen which does the same job.
I have also taken up colouring with the stylus...

So relaxing! I can see me using the stylus for that alone.

Oh and for the odd note.

So far I don't hate it / want to run back to a Pixel.
I still prefer the Pixel overall just for the user experience it gives.

But the screen of the Note is so immersive it is crazy. It really is fantastic.

I will play a bit more with it over the weekend (bank holiday, yay!) and see how I feel about it then. So far though I'm really impressed.
I for one miss your write ups :)
Very well said...very well written...

Can I grab that wallpaper from you?

So I was approved for the pre-order 150.00, and Samsung says I'll have it in 6-8 weeks. However the terms and conditions make it seem like you only have until the 20th of September to use it. That's long before the 6-8 weeks.

If you are a die hard Pixel and stock Android fan...want the monthly updates and all that....you probably won't like the Note 10. The new toy tug is hard to resist huh?

That’s one nice thing about my “boat”. I’m not obsessed with the stock Android UI. In fact, I tend to get a little bored with that. It’s the camera that keeps me coming back.

lol you've seen my pixel update threads :po_O:eek:

I've thought about a Sammy / pixel (or OP) combo. I think I've been to the Samsung store (not to mention b&h and Amazon several times mostly looking at the note 9 and running model numbers on XDA

All you fools will be switching to the iPhone next month :p
Yeah I’m upgrading from my Xr.

I’m still going to use the Note 10+.

I’m not sure what I’ll do about my 3XL. Three upgrade paths is actually getting kind of tedious. Right now just looking at rumors the Pixel 4 doesn’t look like something I would be interested in. But who can decide anything based on rumors and leaks?

And no neither my husband nor I pay the full price on any of these phones. We trade in and get discounts on Samsungs.

Deciding to upgrade is a really personal decision. It might look stupid to someone outside looking in. Only the person making the decision can really know if it’s worthwhile to them.

For example, I have kept the same car for 27 years. I only just started driving another vehicle a couple of years ago. But I know some people who get a new car every couple of years. That seems crazy to me but worthwhile to them and we each can logically justify why we do things the way we do them. And so it goes.

Aww man it’s getting really weird over on Android Central. Do they have some weird sort of antipathy for Samsung? I’ve been wondering for a while now.

So, now they’re kind of knocking Samsung because some influencer they hired for that ridiculous green bubble ad made posts years ago that were bigoted. Okay fine say what you will about the poor judgement about that. I can see why that would rile folks up.

But jeez why single out Samsung? Apple has Dre, who also has a history that’s not so rosy.

I’m always reading unsavory stuff about Google and it’s all recent news, too.

Huawei...need I go there on the dirt about them?

But hey, let’s single out Samsung because...???. I like their forums and I like their site but I’ve noticed they tend to either damn Samsung with faint praise or go way out of their way to praise Pixels and Huawei among others.

The way it’s being done just strikes me as odd.

I see the Your Phone/Link to windows is far less clunky than before.

The Photos app is also interactive in so far if you click they can be opened edited etc on your laptop along with sms is far easier to use and notifications does not need Cortana

Not sure what to do with the phone screen but you can control and view your phone

Still will be interesting as this progresses and includes dialling for those that need that functionality

Seen some reports that some are abit disappointed with the camera not improving as much as they had hoped. Anybody else had this issue? Thought with the new iphones out Samsung would step their game up higher in the camera department with rumoured improvements with cameras these days

While I do not place great reliance on league tables The Note 10 jumped from 5th to 1st place on DxOMark so they must of done something :)

Still its the same old slant whatever OEM you favour others will slur to suit their bias or preferences

I wouldn't say disappointed in the cameram it's reliable and can take great photos.
I personally don't see much difference from the S10, but without them side by side I wouldn't be able to say.

The S10 camera, for me though, was always very good so this is just more of the same. I do love Samsung's video recording.

Visited John Lewis and the Samsung Store in London yesterday to check them out, really surprised how much better they feel in hand over the Note 8/9. I definitely am slowly being swayed towards that huge screen...

Enjoying all of the reviews coming in too.

Just do yourself a favour and don't buy it from John Lewis. Coz if a fault develops...
