I keep going back to the samsung site and tossing the galaxy buds in my cart in hopes of the tan leather case becoming available. It's not in stock now, but says it will ship by the 27th of September. . . . Why can't I pull the trigger on this? And why are nearly ALL of the Note cases sold out?

lol I feel like I’m signing away my soul to Satan trying to get anywhere with Bixby. I have kind of a halfazzed setup on it. Really their terms seem alarmingly nosy and vague as to all the third parties who will end up with whatever. Google can be unsettling too. Of course I’ve been in Google’s system for years even before I had an Android phone at all. Samsung’s marketing initiative seems much more aggressive.
Hey Grumps, thumbing up because I always love the way you express these things. If you had a YT channel I'd sub the f*ck out of it just sayin'.

BTW requesting more deep user info on S Pen use on the N10+ because I still can't let go of thinking about it regardless what I posted earlier...

Oh thank you. I bet my videos would be terribly awkward though. And would have multiple interruptions by cats. If you think Flossy Carter's Whiteshoes is big into helping with his videos, you haven't seen anything until you see me mobbed by curious cats. Screen protector installations are interesting around here, that's for sure.

I am getting reacquainted with the S Pen. So far I just have the one screen-off note jotted down today. Much to my surprise I found the unfinished drawing of a cat I started on my Note 7 a few years ago, plus other old lists I'd written.

I am very happy to be back on a Note. Any qualms I had about giving up a still new S10+ have vanished. :)

My husband had to pick his up at FedEx because I was at school sitting for 40 minutes in the pickup queue when the delivery attempt was made.

He's amazed and dismayed that the camera seems to have been improved for very low light photography. He's dismayed because he thinks it's possible to upgrade the s10+ cameras. He wants to keep his S10+. Hes actually the only person who uses and will miss the heart rate and oxygen sensor. I had forgotten the S10+ even had one.

He also prefers the blue of his s10+ to any current Note color. He's being rather stubborn in his resistance but at the same time, honest about what he likes.

It will be interesting to see him process all of the differences and make his decision.

Oh I almost forgot, I am delighted that Samsung have come to their senses and stopped holding back deliveries to households that have more than one trade in transaction. That policy saw me waiting so long for my S10+ as some of you may recall.

Actually I'm sure there'd be a niche for cat infused tech reviews on YouTube ;):)

Ah forgot to mention again thanks to @SteveJUAE I have improved my indoor photography and gotten many excellent indoor cat pictures, granted they don't move constantly and challenge the cameras the way my dog (R.I.P.:() did. Humans will be my next extensive test subjects. Humans challenge not only my cameras but my patience. :p

I did find it key to position myself to work with the available focal lengths and not just stand there and take a shot and hope for the best. It takes just a second or two of extra thought and baking it all into muscle memory, but it's worth it. Pixels do more of the work for you but these Samsung cameras definitely are more versatile, at least until the Pixel 4 comes out. ;)

I'm fine with my "selfies" so far. They're somewhat soft focus compared to a Pixel for sure, but not as bad as the iPhone's new tendency for stealth beauty mode. At least that's my opinion based on what I've seen so far in the conditions I've had to test in.

I have had and will have a hectic schedule this week but I hope to fit in at least 25 minutes of camera testing a day before my return period is up.

I am just so relieved every aspect of audio has been good so far. From phone calls to music. But I have much more to test.

I do wish the external speakers could get a bit louder for my movie watching, though. I can hear them fine but I think the iphone Max and Xr still lead on external speaker sound for movies. Of course that is just my opinion. When it comes to audio I have discovered people's preferences vary widely.

Curious, what did you do or tweak to get your camera working better?

No tweaking. Camera is the same. I just position myself instead of just putting the camera up and framing the subject in the middle and snapping. There's a little bit more to it than that.

Ugh I'm not good at explaining because I'm bad with photography terminology, but I move in closer or pull back depending on which of the 3 lenses I am using. I hold still, of course. But sometimes if my subject moves unexpectedly like for instance my cat suddenly moves her head, I can reposition to get the best focus as I'm taking the picture.

Where I messed up with my daughter's photo was I rushed. She didn't want to be late to school and i just stuck the phone up and snapped as fast as I could without thinking about best distance for the lens or controlling my hand steadiness for the low light. If I don't get flustered I've got rock steady hands for taking photos (if I'm not having a migraine flareup). However, even if I'd had the ideal positioning I am not sure the camera still would not have applied weird effects to remove details from her face. I need to recreate that setting again and see what's really going on. Right now I've only had the opportunity to try and get nice detailed shots of my cats that show the fur as fur and not as blur. It's the first week of school and just to hectic to work on photographing grumpy frazzled humans.

This isn't really the best phone for that kind of really amateurish point and shoot that I did with my daughter, even in full auto mode. Really neither is the iphone, but the iPhone maybe handles that sort of situation a little better.

Anyway the trick is to focus myself instantly and not just the camera. :)

First impressions after playing with the regular Note10:

Size: loving the smaller form factor although it is taking longer to get used to coming from the Note9 than I anticipated even with similar screen size.

Sound: the sound of over bluetooth (speakers and car) for media has improved significantly. Clarity, bass and volume have increased over the Note9. Call quality seems comparatively similar to Note9 but need to test more. Guess they had to get better as headphone jack is gone.

Screen: the screen is gorgeous, feels more a glossy magazine than ever before. The resolution has not been apparent compared to Note9 so am a little relieved.

Endurance: initial battery life has been good given it had a solid 3 hours of transferring and set up from 65% last night. Not too shabby. It's a shame the fast chargers for Note9 are not compatible especially the Belkin PD stuff. Samsung may have tweaked this for super charge compatibility.

Fingerprint sensor: this is taking much longer to get used to. I miss the swipe down function. Guess need to retrain myself and then judge it.

Camera: initial impressions seem better than Note9 but will test it properly in the coming week whilst on holiday!

Software wise although very similar to Note9 seems much more polished to me. Maybe its perception. Anyway that's all for now.. so far I'm glad I jumped on the Note10 train.. hehe!

I dropped from about 50% to 15% last night setting up stuff and reinstalling everything from fresh. So decided to do a fast charger test while I was getting ready for bed, and it went from 12% to 51% in 20 minutes, so super happy with that sort of function. Today first full day but still finalising my apps etc so won't expect battery to stabilise for another couple days!

For the swipe down feature, you can change it in launcher settings where you can swipe down anywhere on the screen for notification panel to show.

So I finally saw the note 10+ in all it’s glory today. Annoyingly it was bolted down to the display so I couldn’t get a good feel for it in the hands. I got the guy in the store to show me the aura glow and I actually liked it. It’s a lot better looking that in the videos and more subtle. If I do get this phone I’ll go with the aura glow.

I had a try of the S-pen camera features and they didn’t feel gimmicky (not the air guestires). I also felt like the S-pen felt better in the hand compared to previous versions. The screen was also noticeably bigger than my Xs max.

I’m also having major 5G Fomo too. I know 5G won’t be fully rolled out until next year but I just want to try it out. There will be 5G coverage in London.

Used this on my S10+ and now my Note 10+. Easily one of the handiest inclusions Samsung made. If someone is using the larger screen phone, I highly recommend it.

Would everyone be willing to have a quick moment of silence for my September 10th delivery date that still hasn’t budged?

Thanks!
As encouragement, my delivery date was 9/4 and it didn’t budge until it shipped. I received it on the 27th. I think they are under-promising and over-delivering which is maybe a good thing. I hope you are pleasantly surprised.

Yeah but I keep reading the way the 5G modem chip is working now, it's a battery hog compared to what they anticipate for the next iteration.

Still, it's cool that you'll be able to make use of 5G in London soon enough. Do you need to be on a particular carrier to get 5G? Is there a carrier who dominates the London service area?

Where I live, all of the carriers are theoretically available and nobody theoretically dominates.

Verizon is the only carrier that I know of that will have 5G anywhere near where I live. And despite being on a major carrier, AT&T, I have very spotty 4G service with no hope of seeing 5G for at least 2 years, upon which there is likely to be a significant plan increase, unless legislators act to prohibit it.

In my house, the 4G signal can vary by up to 2 bars just depending on where in the house I happen to be. When I go out into the neighborhood, I lose signal when I cross the small highway into the nearest neighborhood. We are in an agricultural area, but my neighborhood and surrounding ones are suburban in style, but with large homes and big one acre lots/yards. My neighborbood consists of 20-25 year old country style homes with front porches, but the surrounding neighborhoods have a lot of 5000-7500 sq foot mansions. So we are not a remote back country area and theoretically should have excellent cell coverage. But in actual fact, we don't.

My more modest neighborhood actually has full AT&T coverage, which I lose entirely when I used to cross the highway to walk my dog in the neighborhood where the fancy mansions are. Interesting. o_O

I wasn't ever able to get a T Mobile signal anywhere indoor for my older iPad. Not even in a neighborhood just right outside the nations capital. I would have to walk outside to get a signal. But that was a few years ago and I would hope T-Mobile has improved. Because that is just disgraceful if people can't use their phones and tablets indoors right next to the capital of the entire country!

From what I can tell of traveling with friends who have Verizon, Verizon has the best coverage. We had a friend who was able to get a Verizon signal on a mountain resort in California when the rest of us had nothing and were so envious!

I had started bugging my husband to move us all over to Verizon but he got a job with a new company and says his coworkers can't get the Verizon signal inside of their office building, but he can get AT&T signal with no problem. What a patchwork mess we have going on here.

It's not worth it. What will 5G accomplish for you between now and when you get a new phone in maybe 12-24months?

The 5G phones right now need a separate 5G modem too, so battery life is likely to be affected (especially in areas where it's switching between 4G/5G a lot).

Unless your carrier or the store is doing a promotion where the 5G one costs the same, then there's probably little reason to get one this early.

In some areas in London I get over 100mb down on 4G as it is!

Almost a weeks ownership and absolutely still loving everything about the Note 10.
I am shocking myself with how much I like it.

I don't miss my Pixel and I certainly don't miss my iPhone. The only thing I miss that for is how well it connects to my car.

Still just loving the better haptics. Who knew that would be such a big thing for me on a phone.

Do this to set up the fingerprint scanner. It made a HUGE difference for me both in terms of reliability and speed. I added two fingerprints.
