I agree but if your a 3 year cycle user (not many in this thread) the iPhone 11 screws up that plan

But no doubt part of Apple's plan
4G launched ages ago and even now reception is patchy in many countries including the UK. Furthermore most people use WiFi when available to preserve their data allowance.

Honestly I wouldn't worry or think about 5G at this point unless you will have a 50GB data plan and live+work within 100meters of a node.

With only 64 GB on board, and the strange design decisions I think the note has already beaten the pixel 4, and 11 pro max.

Time will tell if their cameras somehow manage to become leagues better, but even then the note has them in almost every metric.
Everyone will look at this differently of course but to me those three phones belong to three different categories and can hardly even be compared. First there's the choice between iOS and Android. Then, within the Android category, there's a "normal" size phone and a huge one with a pen, then there's vanilla/Google vs One UI/Samsung which again are very different, and finally you have curved vs flat screen which to me is again a big difference.

I don't know, I guess I'm just ruminating a bit so don't mind me :D I just feel like at this top tier of pricing it doesn't help very much to try and decide which phone is "good" or "bad" or "best" among all of them taken together. For me it's easier to think through which way of doing things I prefer, which features and functions are the most important for me, and then compare within each category formed through those initial choices.

For example, I was initially interested in the Note 10+ but the curves + middle hole punch finally ruled that one out for me. Now I'm leaning towards getting an iPad Mini with Pencil + a small category used iPhone (probably iPhone 8 or X) to cover the same function set for more or less the same price. Does that mean I think the iPhone is a "better" phone than the Note 10+? Well honestly the question isn't even relevant to me.

The term best is relative when the most popular apps like Gmail, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook etc operate and look the same regardless of whether your phone cost £1000 or £500.

On social media you will unlikely be able to tell if a photo was shot by the 11 Pro, note 20 or even a cheaper phone.

That's just it. The camera on the note is good enough and in all other areas the note wins

Amazingly all the things I said were deal breakers for me, DeX, the S-pen, split screen apps, larger display, higher resolution Apple had no answer for yesterday. They still increased the prices in the UK and they didn't even add Apple pencil support. God knows how much they would want for an iPhone with Apple pencil support.

Can anyone help me

If you use Bitwarden or Last Pass for example, how do you set that as your default passwords autofill instead of Samsung Pass?

Yeah I think the only reason anyone would choose it over the Note 10+ at this point would be an iOS preference. The update basically gives the iPhone what the S10 had back in March. The one thing that I did notice though is that Apple gave a lot of attention to the cameras. That's a good step for them.
They didn’t really advertise it yesterday but they also caught up to Samsung in bringing zoom audio to the entire lineup! Lol at the glacial pace Apple usually moves I wasn’t expecting that!

I was comparing the iPhone 11 to the 11Pro and the price difference between the 256 GB options is eye watering but feature difference is small. I am still figuring between the two, because I don’t have all the information yet.. I’m probably going to save myself the money and the migraine risk and go with the 11. Probably in mint green.

I was able to stream most of the presentation yesterday on my commute to school (was listening not watching) on my Note 10+. I lost the signal during one part of the commute but was able to get it back with a screen tap once I got to a stop light.

It really is hard to want to give Apple my money when the modem is still Intel inside. I have much better reception on my Note 10+ than on my Xr. The difference is noticeable. @drinkingtea you will probably appreciate that as a student trying to get signal inside some of your classes that might be deep inside some of the bigger buildings.

You bring up a very good point about signal. For Apple always being about the user experience, the difference in signal strength is insane and one of the first things I noticed.

Their fight with Qualcomm was...ugh. It gets me so mad as really it was the consumer who got hurt. But all these years later I can’t claim to understand if Apple had a legitimate reason for being as stubborn as they were.

The note imo is the best overall phone but like all previous samsung phones, is behind on the camera. Imo apple still leads in video recording and the pixel still leads in still shots.

Samsung phones are not good if you have friends, family and pets (especially indoor shots). The portrait mode on the pixel is significantly better than on the note. I hate that I always have to download gcam on every Samsung phone I've owned but the difference in pics is too noticable.

Which reminds me, why did Samsung take forever to do that? I’m pretty sure my old HTC 10 could do that too!

I have an HTC 10. I don't remember it having that feature, though I remember it had/has amazing audio. But I don't remember a lot of things these days! I didn't really end up making a lot of videos with that phone because they skimped on oleophobic coating for the lens and I was going nuts trying to keep that lens clean and ready for use. I had other challenges with the user interface at the time. Oh and eventually it would spontaneously overheat a lot. I have had that with a few phones now. I'm starting to wonder if it's something about me. Like some people can't wear watches because they won't run. I don't know.

But the HTC 10 was the only Android phone that I actually used exclusively for a few months. I put my main sim in it and that was THE phone I was using all day, every day. I really liked it that much. I do still have it in a drawer in my office.

I'm trying to remember, do you have the Note 10? Because they've really improved their post processing. I still love and miss the Pixel camera sometimes, but I've had amazing pics come from the Note 10+ over the last week.

A day with the phone and I am liking it very much especially coming from the XS Max

Only thing is the battery is already at 70% and I have only been downloading apps from the play store, tweaking settings, setting up google pay/banking apps and thats pretty much it. Plus whilst I was doing all the that the back of the phone did get a bit warm/

Is this normal with Samsung phones? Only reason I ask ask I have a 14 day return period if its faulty.

Just like any phone, give it a day to settle. Downloading apps from the Play Store will do that for sure.

yes i've owned every single note that has been released. outdoors or good lighting, it doesn't matter what phone you use but when lighting isn't optimal, samsung really falls behind. if you're taking pics of buildings and scenery, all the phones look great but of people or pets, it's much harder to get a good shot with the note. its easy to get shots with a bit of blur or too much smoothing. simply put, i just have more confidence that i can just point the pixel and shoot and come out with a clear picture. not so much on the note.

I won't disagree with you about the Pixel. It's the king of cameras for sure. I'm pretty happy with the Note camera so far though.

Yeah I remember the amazing audio recording, but I hated how it would save the resulting files as MKV. The lens would always get smudged and I would have to wipe it down before I could take any photo or video, but boy did I love that camera, especially at night time. Much better than mum 6s and 7. This phone did over heat a lot, more than any other phone I used, and that may have been what killed it at the end, I’m not sure. Turns out my phone had many hardware problems too. I do miss that phone.

Oh my God the U.K. is getting so screwed over these days with prices and deals from Apple and from Android manufacturers to a lesser extent.

I’m trying to follow your news and politics to understand better what you all are facing in your economy and with international trade due to Brexit, but it isn’t easy for me to understand. It doesn’t help our news media is more intent on serving up what Duchess Meghan did to anger royal courtiers this week, so I have to hunt for real news. (I don’t even really know what a courtier is, but apparently they don’t like her because she isn’t British enough. Uh...she’s from California so...anyway. Whatever). I know you all have a leader with inexplicably odd hair like we’ve got. That’s about it. ;) Everything else is a bit confusing past that.
