One of the drawbacks of Samsung Pay is in the uK only few banks support it - most of the major banks do not support Samsung pay. I am surprised they haven't tried to alter that as Google Pay is supported by every UK bank except Barclays I think.
That's the same with Google Pay as well it seems. Cards I have from a couple of banks are not supported by Samsung Pay or Google Pay, though they worked fine for Apple Pay.

You have no terminals that include a magnetic stripe reader? I am not sure that I have seen one here in the USA that doesn't.

We are way behind apparently.
In 2004 chip and pin was introduced in the UK and it slowly took over from MST terminals. I couldn't tell you the last time I seen one here.

We have chip and pin, but even now I come across some where the chip reader is still not activated and you have to swipe your card. All the chip and pin terminals I have come across still have the magnetic card swipe on the side, because some older cards and debit cards still don't have the chip.

So for now at least, the Samsung pay seems to work everywhere that Google Pay does, but Google Pay doesn't work everywhere that Samsung pay does. At least that has been my experience so far :)

Agreed especially if you travel internationally Samsung pay is going to be more reliable

Weird, I had no idea. I know in the US Samsung pay is more widely supported and doesn’t require NFC enabled readers. But I know Google Pat has been closing the gap.

I like samsung pay because you get rewards and cash back. Also it's so seamless and easy to use on samsung phones. Just swipe up and then fingerprint. Takes only a second.

Also funny when a cashier is in the middle of telling me it won't work while the credit card machine has already started printing the receipt.

Its safer as well because it requires your fingerprint. Google pay only needs you to wake up the phone so if anybody were to steal your phone they can use it to buy things whilst Samsung pay they cannot/

That's what I referenced in an earlier post as well. The number of times I have had a cashier tell me it won't work only to have it beep a second later. The looks on their face at times is funny though :)

Edit: Or the "Oh, that terminal won't work with AppleP(beep)." Yeah, it's not ApplePay.

I don't think you get rewards in the UK

.....For example, I was initially interested in the Note 10+ but the curves + middle hole punch finally ruled that one out for me. Now I'm leaning towards getting an iPad Mini with Pencil + a small category used iPhone (probably iPhone 8 or X) to cover the same function set for more or less the same price. Does that mean I think the iPhone is a "better" phone than the Note 10+? Well honestly the question isn't even relevant to me.
Snap! I'm seriously considering a Note 10+ as my do everything device but not sure about the curved glass, size and Android. Also I've used iOS since day one so switching to Android will be a little jarring but I'm not tied to any other Apple device.

Still using my 7 plus after returning Pro Max and iphone 11. Pro screwed with my eyes and 11 is no substitute. This has left me feeling like I'm done with Apple and should switch now. But because I'm so used to iOS it has me thinking I should should just get an SE and iPad mini because their both devices I loved using. I wouldn't mind going the other way and simplifying my phone to an easy to carry, quick communication device and use the ipad mini for everything else. I just can't source a brand new SE 128GB in the UK anymore.

I don’t believe that you would find the switch as jarring as you think it will be. My wife and I had been iPhone users since 2007 and BlackBerry users prior to that. We each purchased our first Android phones recently and didn’t find the switch to be jarring at all. Mostly just relearning some muscle memory things from how It was done in IOS vs Samsung’s OneUI.

That said, everyone’s experience is different :)

Ugh, sorry about your eyes. This time whatever change they made works sufficiently for me to keep the 11 Pro but if I’m going to do any e book reading, I’m going to be doing it on my Pixel 3XL which by some miracle has the best display for that purpose. Note 10+ is good, too, but perfect flatness is the best display for reading on. I have the 3XL around so I may as well use it. But if I didn’t, the Note 10+ display is softer on the eyes than the iPhone 11 Pro. Both have pwm and I can detect flicker on ALL of my OLED displays. Unfortunately iPhone has an implementation that happens to be the worst for eye strain.

I love the Note 10+, and so does my husband. I think it would be his only phone if both of us weren’t tied socially to so many iOS users. There is an ease to sharing photos and videos and other content with iPhone users that doesn’t quite exist between Android and iPhone. There are workarounds. Easy ones, actually. But it’s not quite the same. Since we find we need two lines apiece anyway, mostly due to family medical emergencies, we just make one for Android and one for iOS, that’s all.

The curved edges can indeed be easy to accidentally bump. Samsung’s rugged case helps me get a better grip on the phone to avoid that more. Visually, they’re at their least annoying due to a couple of years of serious refinement.

Since you’re already using a 7 Plus the size should not be a shock. It’s a pleasantly light phone compared to iPhones. And you will love the beautiful display.

I absolutely love the rugged case!

My wife has had some minor issues in syncing photos, but only because she is for the time being strictly a Mac user. She got around her Note 10 not syncing with Apple photos, by having Samsung Photos sync with One Drive and then dragging the photos into Apple Photos. Not a big deal, but definitely an extra step.

Of course she could likewise do the same with Samsung Drive, Google Photos or a sharing site like SmugMug.

I have a PC and a Mac however, and find my photos sync with the photos app on my Surface Pro.

I've never had such little to complain about a phone, but there's always room for improvement. I've got two very minor wishes for One UI 2.0.

1) Make One Hand Operation+ part of the OS. It's a must have for people that love using custom gestures. Extremely useful.
2) Allow widgets to be placed anywhere on the screen, overriding the grid layout. The same way Nova Launcher allows.

That's it, nothing else I honestly can think of. Something tells me my plan to not upgrade until another 2 years is not gonna work. With the possibility of graphene batteries, and a massive camera upgrade, the Note11+ is going to be hard to resist. Especially, if trade-in deals are anything like this year.

I see you have a game folder. You should use game launcher. It's a stock Samsung app that's already on your phone. It's like having a game folder that keeps stats on your playing time. It's a general games control center. Very convenient.
Thanks I'll check that out!

I think the only complaint I have so far, while I think the camera has improved a lot, there are 2 issues that bugging me:

- Portrait mode sometimes fails to recognize 2 faces. My girlfriend and I were at a wedding and took a couple selfies and she was completely blurred out in a couple of them as I thought the camera recognized both faces, but obviously didn't.

- Moving kids and pets still come out blurry. In all fairness, the Pixel is the only camera in my experience that consistently takes non blurry pictures of moving objects.

Depending on the Pixel unveil I'll be getting a Note 10 before the end of the month. The + would be nice however I'm too used to the smaller handsets now after having an iPhone X for 2 years. The Note 8 I had before that is huge in comparison.
