About time they're coming out with a 512GB micro SD card.

So just to wrap it up, here are the confirmed specs:

-6.4 inch display (not 6.3 as recent leaks have assumed)
-Variable Aperture 12-megapixel (f/1.5 – f/2.4) + 12-megapixel (f/2.4) rear dual camera
- S-Pen with Bluetooth connectivity
- 128GB base storage (should be the new standard), 512GB expandable
- 4000mAh battery (should be the new standard)
- stereo speakers
- headphone jack
- ip68
- iris scanner

Here's the back of the box, originally in Russian, translated by Sammobile.

in china only i bet lol

not sure why anybody would need that much. I know on my iphone x I have about 96GB left of my 256GB.

I’m sorry for being nosy, but I’m very curious to know what you have on your iPhone that takes up over 128GB of storage.

I’m very happy that Apple offers these higher storage tiers for people who need or just want them. But I have a hard time wrapping my head around the use case for anything over 128GB.

On the other side, I never understood Sansung’s desire to skimp on storage, particularly in the U.S. The Galaxy S8 was only offered in 64GB in the U.S. and U.S. carrier versions of the S9 are still only offered in 64GB.

Lots of people like to have big music libraries on their phone as well as lots of high res pictures. Then 4K video takes up a lot of space. Only having a 128gb Pixel with no expandable storage, I have to be selective in what I choose to have on my device. I loved having my iTunes library on my 256gb iPhone & 64gb Note 8 with 200gb memory card. Now I have to make do with my favourite playlists.

I take lots of pics when I travel with various cameras and like to have most of them on my phone for instant access. Google photos is good and all that, but not the same as having lots of folders arranged how I want on the device.

I know many people, including myself, don't look at this as just extra storage, but removable storage. And most people I know don't use cloud storage to back up their photos. Should your phone ever get physical damage or you ever have to reformat, just slip out the card and all photos and documents are safe, and quick to transfer.

I wonder if the s-pen with BT function (with the requirement of it needing to be recharged) will affect the water resistance of the whole device.

Might upgrade to this just for that 4000mah battery, its the only thing about my S9+ that isn't perfect imo.
$1000 upgrade for a $15 battery.
If the industry 'allowed' swappable batteries it would end all these issues. Buy two genuine OEM batteries, charge them at night and carry them around with you. Never would you run out of juice again.

Isn't the processor the same as the S9? I could be mistaken.

True, but to get the ip68 rating they need to seal the battery i guess. I think once 4000mah and bigger batteries become the norm it wont be such an issue anymore

Battery tech has been lagging behind the rest of the parts of the phone (CPU, display, memory, and storage), but I believe we should see something new within the next 5yrs. Again, it seems only Samsung is doing all the heavy lifting for the industry.

So.....who here is a release day order candidate? Jamezr? If anyone I'd guess you'd be on it.

Normally I would be but my Note 8 has exceeded all expectations.
If the reviews are amazing and indicate a substantial upgrade, I might get one but I'm inclined to wait this one out, at least until the S10/X whatever, drops.

My Note 8 is the best phone I've owned, the battery life seems to improve as it gets on, I have July security update, the camera is great, screen is great. No notch, the fingerprint scanner has the phone unlocked before I get to look at the phone.
I have 300+GB of storage.

The new Dex features and S-pen are the features that are making think about it but they alone aren't quite enough.
Sure, the whole package is better but the Note 8 is still a great phone nearly a year on.

I'm not sure it will be a release day order for me. I will wait and see as well. I am really looking forward to under display FPS on the S10 and the Galaxy X to be honest.

They manage to seal the SIM tray to achieve their dust & water resistance and my Nikon camera has a removable battery yet is waterPROOF to 50m. All it would take is a door with an O-ring seal around it and a slide in battery. Diving watches and computers manage this feat.
Also iPhones etc were using sealed batteries long before they became IP67/68.

With Huawei heading for world's #1 phone producer crown, Samsung is aware of the horse race, they got to get their innovation going otherwise it is an 'also ran'.

That's a good point, i would be all for removable batteries but unfortunately the industry has taken a different approach. With that being said a 4000mah battery will go a long way to making it a mute point, will be enough for a day of heavy usage.
