What’s with the rumours if this maybe being the last note? Some youtubers were talking about it..surely not?

I've seen the recent rumors that Samsung was possibly rolling the Note line into the S line. The second I heard that, I thought, I should be hired by Samsung's mobile division. About 2.5 years ago, I posted this...

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/samsung-should-cancel-the-galaxy-note-line.1954739/

If this indeed happens, I'm gonna start my own mobile tech site and start writing articles. ;)

Perhaps they're merging the Galaxy Note and Galaxy lines to have pen capability like how all Microsoft Surface devices have pen capability. Makes perfect marketing sense for competitive edge reason while at the same time simplifying product lines.

That would depend on sales.
How is the note 8 doing?

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Leak Reveals Sudden Cancellation

"The Galaxy Note 9 will change a lot more than critics are expecting. That said, it seems Samsung is taking criticism very personally as a new leak from within the company’s supply chain reveals the Galaxy Note is facing a sudden and unexpected cancellation…

According to popular Korean site The Bell, Samsung is seriously considering scrapping the Galaxy Note brand completely. What’s more, The Bell’s source says this is something Samsung has been considering for well over a year.

Reasons behind such a drastic move are given as deteriorating profitability due to smartphone saturation, and delayed upgrade cycles as customers hold onto their devices for longer. In fact, The Bell states that the fate of the Galaxy Note range largely depends on customers’ response to the Galaxy Note 9. If sales are underwhelming, then the writing is on the wall.

A cancellation would see the Galaxy Note “merged” with the Galaxy S range, but there’s no detail on how this takes place. Would there still be a model with an S Pen or would the merger see the Galaxy S ‘Plus’ model replace the Note range since its mass market audience is unlikely to need the stylus which both separates the Note and gives it a hardcore fanbase."

There might just be a larger galaxy without a stylus

Could be foldable one next generation, sticker shock over $1200. Unless it can brew coffee for you, not worth it.

Don’t think they are waiting for the foldable displays to increase prices.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 Is Very Expensive
“Quandt says Samsung will start Galaxy Note 9 pricing in Europe at €1050 ($1230) for a 128GB model with a flagship 512GB option costing €1250 ($1460). ”

Maybe they will just scrap the plus and go back to 1 S line and 1 note like it was in the past.

But it would seem as though prices are increasing regardless of magic sauce or lack there of.
Exactly. Best part of a grand for an iPhone X or Note on the last go around. Prices have risen monstrously and yet people will still upgrade yearly for the slightest improvement.

Yeah, but you have to admit atleast for the iphone x, you get an oled edge to edge display, stainless steel frame, a new design, and 3D facial recognition. This helps justify any increase in price.
For users coming from the iPhone 6/6s/7 it was a substantial upgrade.

The note 9 is basically a s9+ with a stylus, bigger battery and it’s almost identical in design to the note 8.
I don’t understand why they would increase prices to over €1000 for the base model.

To be honest, I think the stylus and larger batter are significant improvements over an S9+. But I agree with your point on the price.

As you point out I think that 1,000 Euro or US$1,000 is a psychological barrier. There will always be people (like me) who want to upgrade to the latest and greatest as soon as it comes out. But once you hit the 1,000 mark for a phone, I believe that number of people starts to drop off rapidly.

My own US$0.02 for Samsung is to keep the Note and the S9+ and then shrink the standard S down to a more pocketable size. I'd say somewhere in between an iPhone SE and an iPhone 8.

I've seen one video of a tech writer/reporter recommending just going with mid-range Android devices because the additional specs on a flagship Android device don't justify the premium price anymore. I'm really beginning to think that may be the way to go in the future.

Were you equally vocal in questioning every iPhone upgrade prior to the X? You know, where designs didn't change, bezels were massive, and you got an LCD screen. Did you just keep upgrading without question or posting complaints? That being said, if you're one of those people that thinks the Note line is just an Galaxy S with a stylus, then you're not the target customer. It's that simple.

Firstly, iPhone 7 wasn’t over 1000. X was and the note 9 is rumoured to be, hence the comparison.

Secondly iPhone 7 didn’t suffer from a lack of sales similar to the s9 and increasing prices isn’t a good idea if your having problem with sales.

And yeah to me the note is an s+ with a stylus.

Sales number have nothing to do with whether an upgrade is worth it or not. Hmm...so let's see what a same old same old designed iphone 8, in all it's big bezel glory, with an LCD screen is going for. Wow, 64GB at $1075!!!! Gotta make sure to compare that to a Note 9 128GB base storage goes for. We'll have to wait and see.

I said sales of the s9 were so bad that it wouldn’t be a good idea for Samsung to increase prices for the note 9.

No idea why you keep wanting to compare the note 9 to past iPhone... but ok.

^^^^^ THIS^^^^^ There are so many options available on Android. Unless people want the best camera or latest specs....most mid level Android phones will fill their needs rather nicely.

Or buy last year's flagship and get the best of both worlds, a premium device and better than midrange performance.

Again, you really seem to be so focused on sales numbers like it's money in your pocket. As if Apple selling the most is bragging rights for you personally. Why is that? Who cares about sales numbers in regards to what a company charges for their device. I'm an individual that determines if a company is overcharging me for inferior hardware. I don't care how many other people are buying the same device as me. If a majority of Apple buyers thought that way, the iPhone would have had bigger OLED screens and an updated design years ago. But because a lot of them seem to think like you (everyone's buying iPhones, yay for us, we are Apple), you happily pay the price Apple wants, regardless of hardware. It's really sad. At least Samsung keeps advancing hardware and software. And when Samsung does it, the whole industry benefits because they also supply hardware to companies who can't innovate.

Samsung posted this video today so I think they are going to increase the base storage on the note 9. 128GB is the default option in the uk.

[doublepost=1532631477][/doublepost]Here are some more teaser videos for the note 9

Bit rich of them to take the rip out of the battery life of a phone they released less than a year ago.

Am I missing something? Isn't it an iPhone in the video with the low battery? Yout post reads like they're mocking one of their own phones?

Nope. As blatant as they are in some of their other videos, that's not an iPhone in the last one. It has a center mounted camera on the back with a top mounted headphone jack. The interface is clearly also not iOS or even a near close rip off.

They might have done a poor job but from the low battery warning and indicator, it's pretty obvious they're trying to suggest they're iPhones.

It did look like an iPhone but in the actual video you can see the phone and its definitely not an iPhone. It might be Xaomi or a oppo.
[doublepost=1532674326][/doublepost]So apparently The game Fortnite will be exclusive to the note 9 for 30 days. Pre-order gifts will be either a free pair of AKG wireless headphones or $100/$150 of in game currency for Fortnite. I have the AKG headphones, they came as a free gift with my S9 plus. I haven't used them much but they are pretty nice.

Can’t answer the question.

Do you think it’s a good a idea for Samsung to increase note 9 prices?
