I managed to watch a little of the presentation while driving to work .

Dare i say it....I was actually impressed with Bixby! It does contextual conversation based interaction. Its not as good as Google Assistant for sure. But it has evolved and come a long way in a short amount of time.

Loved all the new functions of the S-Pen....I mean it can control the phone to some degree. If they open up the api other apps might let you control them as well. Can't find that functionality on any other phone.

The Note 9 proves that the Note line is the premium flagship model for Samsung

Didn’t see any of the presentation and only just watched MKBHD to get up to speed but I have to admit it’s a pretty beastly phone. I still don’t like a whole lot about Samsung’s UI and software strategy in general as well as the damn curved edges, but if you can adequately get that stuff (software) out of the way, hard to argue against this being the best Android phone available.

And yeah it’s expensive but it is really the closest thing to a fully functional pocket computer, and then some (not taking photos with you laptop ;)). You can actually do more with this than most consumer level laptops and cramming all of that into a package far smaller isn’t cheap or easy. IMO, that price isn’t really unrealistic. We may not want to pay it but no other phone can replicate the totally functionality offered by the Note 9.

Jeez, hell must be freezing over if I’m praising a Samsung phone this many times in a single post. :p:D

yay Note 9! I am loving Note 8 but yes never too early to talk about the next one. I will probably keep the Note 8 for a long time and skipping the 9 because of incremental update.

You know what it is okay because we get a better product in the end. I think Samsung is trying to have quality product just like Apple and want to get it to us fans in a more polished and not so beta stage.

Wow! 5 months before release and you nailed the outcome with hardly any leaks at the time. Nice job!!

lol...thats how I felt praising Bixby! I have not been kind to it in the past.

Yeah, I’m not going that far. :D I’m likely ‘pushing my chips all in’ on Google Assistant for my AI/Voice Assistant needs and will never use enough Samsung gear to even warrant considering Bixby. I understand why they’ve rolled it out but think it’s just a huge uphill battle to make Bixby a viable and worthwhile choice. Samsung doesn’t have have the ubiquity of Google Services, Amazon, or the ecosystem of Apple.

Totally agree.....I would not use Bixby or any Bixby enabled devices in my home. To me it is a duplicate feature I don't need....GA does just fine. But i use Alexa at home.....

I watched most of the unpacked event. I was impressed with everything they announced. Price is higher than I would have liked. But Samsung generally throws in freebies or discounts to even things out.

I don't think I'll be getting a Note 9 although it does seem like a beast of a phone. I like the overall direction Samsung is trying to go of getting different devices to flow together.

I would like to move my personal phone to a Galaxy S9+ and I'd really be interested in getting the new Gear S4 watch to go along with it. I have an iPhone for work and I like the idea of having the Gear S4 watch for notifications during the day and leaving the Galaxy S9+ in my backpack at my desk.

(I know I could do the reverse where I have an iPhone for personal use paired with an Apple Watch. But I like to keep the Android for personal use.)

Lol, is this the Keynote judging panel or Note9 thread?

The Battery, SPen, Memory and DeX improvements are welcome.

512GB memory plus 512GB Memory Card will be incredible. Still very happy with my Note8, but this is tempting, will see if I get it. My network has an awesome preorder deal going where you can get the 512GB version for the price of 128GB if you preorder.

Hmmm..

That was just my 2cents.

Back to you Keynote judges! :D

What colors are available to you? Right now it seems the only colors available on Samsung's U.S. Web site are blue and purple.
[doublepost=1533839833][/doublepost]
At samsung site, the are taking order for 128GB and 512GB, pay $250 more for the latter.

And Verizon, AT&T and T-mobile have carrier versions of the 512GB version for a change.

The U.S. carriers only offered the 64 GB version of the S9 and S9+. The higher storage tiers are only available as an unlocked version which may not be compatible with all features like WiFi calling, VoLTE and visual voicemail depending on carrier.

Edit: I just did some reading and realized that the new smartwatch is referred to as the Galaxy Watch and not the Gear S4. Sorry about any confusion. I'd still like to get the smaller version.

What's up with Samsung not releasing a black Note 9 at launch? Only available in blue and purple. Talk about dropping the ball. SMH

Where do you live? Here in Sweden it comes in black and blue at release. Guess the other colors will be released later on.

I have to admit that I really soured on Samsung's pre-orders after the launch of the S9. I ordered an unlocked S9 in 64GB and less than two months after launch they started offering the 128GB and 256GB options in the U.S.

It seems to me that Samsung tends to roll out all the variations over several months rather than release them right at the beginning.

In the United States, the trade-in prices Samsung offers fluctuates also. For example, right now Samsung is offering a higher trade-in value if you purchase a Note 9 versus a Galaxy S9 or S9+. But then last month they were offering a $200 trade-in value for any working phone if you were buying a Galaxy S9 or S9+.

If you like the incentives Samsung or your carrier are currently offering, you might want to go ahead and buy now. But if you have your heart set on a color that isn't available yet, you might want to wait a few months.

It looks really impressive. Just wish it ran iOS and Apple's ecosystem. Every time I go to Samsung, I love it for about a month and then miss Apple and go back.

You and me both.

Absolutely love the Samsun hardware, absolutely hate the inner workings of Android and miss everything about the Apple ecosystem.

Love my X though and excited to see what the X+ feels like in the hand.

With that being said, I have a 6s+ laying around that I can get $250 from BB and 0% financing towards an unlocked Note 9...hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

First Galaxy in awhile I know 100% I’ll skip.

Good for those that like high spec monsters, but I prefer software support over the best specs.

I could tell something was different with the Note9 design besides the back. They made the phone Shorter, Wider and slightly Thicker. It is also heavier, but that's to be expected considering the battery jump.
Explains why the display looks wider, it is indeed wider.

Nice spot. I prefer wider, although not sure if it's noticeable in the real-world?

I don't mind the extra thickness, unlike Apple's obsession over it, especially if it's for the sake of increased battery capacity.

I am just glad that:

- There's no Notch
- No protruding Camera
- There is a Headphone Jack
- There is still a Memory Card slot

Competitors are quickly lowering the standard, glad Samsung continues to build powerhouses. :D

I am tempted, but my Note8 is still so good, but the Note9 is better, but Note8 still a beast, but Note9 is more of a beast.....but but but argh
AMEN to that. Honestly surprised Samsung haven't also joined the other companies playing sheep and worshipping Apple by embracing Apple's 'courageous' design choices. Glad they've chosen functionality over an obsession over form with the Note 9 and this is what makes it stand out for me.

Hmm tempted to do the Verizon BOGO, but then I'm stuck with the crappy Verizon version right? I have 2 lines with them, I would do the one add a line and just cancel one of my existing lines. These will be $700 or so on swappa in a few days with so many BOGO's going on, but I wouldn't mind the AKG headphones.

Seems nice, I'm intrigued by Dex but for me it's kind of useless how they implemented it. It should have been wireless and/or bypassing hdmi because I'd love to hook Dex up to my surface pro but it has no video in, nor does any other tablet/laptop out there due to copy protection. It would have been awesome to have Dex wirelessly connect to my surface pro and be able to run the phone on a big but portable screen.

Man is the US seriously not getting this in black?? Thank god we do in Europe

That's another negative point, the Note 8 with the black sides looks really slick. I'm not a big fan of the silver sides, kind of reminds me of Samsungs plastic chrome surround days. Plus what's with the only choices being purple or blue? WTF is that? WTF do I want a yellow (no it's not freakin gold) Spen?!?

Looking forward to seeing this beast :)

Ahh yes, nothing says "New Android Flagship" around here more than the regular crew of MacRumours Android Haters who come to the alternative section. I see they have come in early this year.

Next couple of months will be interesting.

But I digress...

I cannot wait to see what Huawei will do with the Mate20 as well to go toe-to-toe with the Note9, as well as the Pixel 3 XL and I am hoping that ASUS ROG Phone will arrive soon.

Considering the S9/Note 9 are the Tock in the Tick/Tock cycle, just imagine how it will be in this section when the Tick of the S10/Note 10 arrive. That's when we should be seeing the new tech like the 7nm CPU, the under the display fingerprint sensor, new design, etc... I think macrumors will end up going offline. lol.
