No im pretty sure Samsung are solely responsible, especially for the deals at launch.

Carriers don’t want to sell an unlocked model, unless you pay , sometimes more than retail and/or an unlocking fee.
Unlocked doesn’t really fit the carriers business model.

I'm not saying Samsung isn't doing anything, they obviously are, but the deals being offered are different from each carrier. At&t and Verizon offering BOGO with new line, T-Mobile offering $500 credit with trade in, and Sprint is just 50% off, no caveats as long as your on their lease program.

So either each carrier negotiates its own deal with Samsung, or Samsung does a flat credit across the board and carriers decide how they are going to use that to generate sales, and whether they will sweaten the pot to get more customers.

You don't worry what can be done with your financial information? Or your identity? I'm not trying to be paranoid about cyber warfare, but I do think something like identity theft is a genuine concern. Now I'm not saying Huawei is guilty of anything at all, just playing devils advocate to all the headlines out there. But when the heads of the CIA, FBI, NSA and others actually officially advise not to use them, that's got to mean something. It's not like they run around saying that about anyone else, except maybe ZTE.

The reality is that with any IT systems, there are thousands of vulnerabilities (from hardware/software/users/operators). Nothing is really secure once you are connected to internet.

We just have to be extra vigilant. If you have something you really wanted to hide them don't put those info in the cloud or phone. For ibanking stuff, I think the banks have other precautions in place in their apps to ensure security. It just paranoid to think everything is not safe even if your phone is compromised.

Frankly, I think for most people the concern is whether the organizations holding their confidential data are secured. Ultimately, the only time you willingly let out your confidential information is when these "reputable" organizations asked for it.

That's specifically about Huawei's involvement in the new 5G network and not their phones.
You guys don't even sell Huwaei phones whilst we have them in every telco store.

"Huawei says no backdoor vulnerabilities have ever
been found in its products."

Surely that's the bottom line here? They are being found guilty with no proof whatsoever. One has to ask why.

Nice. China does spy on other countries. As does Russia. As does EU. US spies as well, they have been caught spying on even their own allies.

But what interest does Huwei have in spying regular Joe? Or Samsung? Or OnePlus?

I'm more worried with google and their constant breech of user privacy. They are far worse for regular folks then any government could ever be.

Nothing. Only on the watch and Tab S4.
Wireless charger with CPW pre orders.
[doublepost=1534597962][/doublepost]There's already a 2 week delay on the 512gb blue at CPW. Out of stock of both black and blue 512gb at Samsung UK site. So they've either not made too many or they're selling really well.

I don’t think they sell amazing normally anyway as they are very for a certain market.

I can’t imagine they made too many 512GB as I know only EE seem to be stocking and maybe o2. Three and Vodafone seem to be stocking only 128GB

Samsung.com, BB, VZW and Tmo are running about a month out on the 8/512. They probably kept production low.

I'm starting to be really intrigued by the Note 9, partially thanks to a preorder promo they're running here. I could get extra 200€ for my S8+ if I upgraded to the Note 9, so the total upgrade compensation would be 420€, which is quite OK considering that I paid 599€ for the S8+ 10 months ago. I could really use the dual-SIM, better DeX, and the S-Pen.

There are no 4 year androids cause none of them offer support for that long.
I wasn't talking about updates, I was talking about how well the performance does on the phone and it will continue to be fast and smooth probably up to 4 years. There are some 3 year old Samsungs still getting updates.

Where did you get this info? I still have a get by the 24th date from BB. And people on the android forums are already getting marked shipped with both 128 and 512 models for tmobile, sprint, verizon and AT&T..

Sorry, didn’t mean to suggest orders previously placed have slipped. I’m saying if you go to these sites *now*, shipping is approximately a month out.

None that I’ve watched thus far. All have been the base model.
The manufacturer does not want to 'waste' their high price model for demo, after all the base model is the better seller than the high end one. The 8Gb model to some consumers are over done.

I think what you described is a variation of what the carriers used to do offering a phone for $299 if you agreed to stay with them for one or two years. They are getting subsidized somewhere. With the rise in popularity of smartphones in recent years they were able to change their sales model and just let the customer carry the cost, but now with the market getting saturated and prices going ever higher, they need to offer something again in order to keep the masses buying.

I think 512/8's are in short supply. I ordered mine (Blue) from Samsung direct a couple days ago and my estimated shipping date is SEPTEMBER 24.

Which suits me just fine, because I'm out of town with my in-laws well past the launch date. I didn't even want to preorder, but I like free stuff :D

I'd wanted to settle down for a couple of years with my S9+, as it was close to everything I wanted from ANY smart phone. But I wanted more battery life and more onboard storage since I take a lot of long 4K video. So the Note 9 is exactly what I was hoping for. My S8+ is being traded in this time and will not be missed because it had that pink staining flaw that never quite got fixed.

Samsung won me from Google Pixel 2 and kept me with the S9+ I've discovered the power of using their manual photo and video controls and it's been a blast.

I do have an area of concern over gradient banding that seems to remain unpatched. It shows up in dimly lit scenes in movies and videos that are viewed in dimly lit rooms. It had been so bad I wouldn't even watch movies on my S9+ on road trips and used my iPhone 8 Plus instead. When it was bad the movies looked like bad gifs.

It turns out I was missing a patch and that helps significantly, though it does not completely obliterate the problem as I had hoped. Other than that, it's been fun. If the Note 9 has a similar level of banding, I decided I can live with that, so I decided to proceed with upgrading.

Sorry I disappeared abruptly. And no, I was not put in "time out" for bad behavior.:p I had to deal with suddenly developing urgent eldercare issues. Like many families, we look after multiple elders while trying to raise the next generation. Health care needs for the elders ratcheted up to "nervewracking" at a time everyone was scrambling to meet end of school year deadlines and graduations, so I asked the mods to put my account in suspension while I adjusted to my "new normal". I didn't want to take my stress out on my friends here.

:D It is "new phone season" though, and you know I couldn't stay away for that!
