OK, for those that have bought the Note, are you planning to keep it or returning it?

I'm thinking about getting the Note and selling my iPhone 4S.
I may go back to the next iPhone if they make a larger screen.

that is pretty much complete BS and 100% FUD. It has standard Android Market access the rest of Samsung's phones.

It is a keeper for me! Many have opinions against it but I would be willing to bet that if they gave it a shot they would love it too
With that said, I will be watching for the iPhone 5 this fall and it it has something I like better I will give it a shot as well

Sorry but I'm not that good in abbreviations... what's BS and FUD?

BS is ********* and FUD, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear,_uncertainty_and_doubt

And how did you "hear" this? I thought you didn't learn anything but stuff about your job?

Android Market is web based, not an app. Hell you can go to market.android.com on your computer, "install" an app, and your phone will automatically download it. Unlike iOS, which won't do it until you sync your device if I'm not mistaken.

You've already admitted to being ignorant about Android, and that you have any time to educate yourself about such devices ...so why continue to post about the Note? And speaking of your statement of not having time to educate yourself, how in the hell do you have so much time to post around here at all?!

You can't push apps from the web without the Market app being installed on your phone. ;)

Fits in my front and back pocket just fine. As far as a holster goes.....yuck. Reminds me of the old pocket protectors days.

----------

No it isnt just fine. That thing is huge. Im not against the Galaxy Note in the least as far as it being a good device but it is what it is and what it is is huge.
Just my opinion but when im wearing jeans, it is too big to put in my pocket and because of that i would want to use a holster but man that would be one big device on your belt.
Anybody who thinks it isnt too big to put in your pocket imo is nuts. It does a lot of things and for that i think it is great but to carry around like a regular phone for me...it just wouldnt work very well.

In no way would i want that in my back pocket. Its just a disaster waiting to happen when i forget to take it out when i sit down.

Wouldn't saying "maybe some people have time to educate themselves" imply the opposite for yourself? Just asking but I was under the same impression.

You're being far too logical.

True, it's like the AppStore app though. Comes pre installed and is non removable.

I don't have an android powered device at my disposal to try this at the moment, but I don't not believe you. But I'd imagine Cynics is correct too, that it's not removable (yeah, probably with rooting it is)...and why in the world would you want to? Might as well go get a go-phone if you're not going to use any apps. And if you did delete the 'app' (I view the icon as more of a shortcut), can you not just open the browser and install an app directly from market.android.com? Not to mention amazon or whatever other 'app stores' are available out there.

A lot of people don't understand you can download from the Internet with android. Foreign concept.

For those that don't. Say for example you browsed a web page and it had a mp3 exe or any sort of file including apk which is an install able android file. You can download it without rooting. So you can download files from the web based market without using the android market app.

I never tried to use a computer to download apps TO my android tablet cause I've never had a need too.

I'm going to visit my local AT&T store soon to try one out. I haven't been excited to mess around with a new smartphone in a long time.

I probably won't make a decision about my next smartphone until I see what Apple has planned come this fall with the next iPhone. I absolutely love everything about my iPhone 4 EXCEPT the screen size. It's simply too small IMO. My guess is that we'll see a 4" retina display for the iPhone 5. (Just a guess.)

I expect the Note to be too big for my tastes with respect to putting it in my front pocket and being able to operate it with one hand (which is important to me). I also rely very heavily on the perfect podcast management the iPhone allows me. I know there are apps on Android that deal with podcasts, but from what I've been told it doesn't compare to the ease of what the iTunes app provides on the iPhone.

I also don't like the fact that the US version of the Note has four capacitive buttons whereas the international version only has two plus a d-pad. I've read some reviews where the reviewer states the international Note wins in that regard.

I'll report back my impressions when I finally get around to seeing this model.

You must have the Market app installed on your phone to push or download anything from the Market web site. That is a fact.
You can uninstall the Market app and use another app store like Amazon's if you choose. Rooting most phones takes a few seconds. Not rocket science.
Nice for users who don't want to have a Google account.
Simply hitting the Android Market from the browser will do nothing without the local app telling the Market what kind of phone you have.
You can download and install standalone apk files, and install them from the web or copy them directly to you phone.

I got the international Note because I wanted to tinker around with Android platform. Really like the big, vibrant color screen it sports. Installed a custom ICS rom and really dig it. However I still use the 4s as my primary carry with me device. Been using iPhones for so long that I can't change.

I got the Note on release day just over a week ago. I've had every iPhone except the 4S as I personally didn't see the benefit from going from the 4 to the 4S.

Anyway my biggest and basically only complaint about the iPhone has been its screen size and I've also been curious about Android. So I said screw it and bought the Note.

So far it's been great. The screen is incredible. Deep blacks and awesome colors. Oh yeah and its ginormous! :) Fits in my pocket with ease, even in my shirt pocket. The battery is really impressive considering the size of the AMOLED HD screen and the LTE radio. I get through the day with moderate use and I still have 30-50% battery remaining.

Don't get me wrong I love me some iPhone and iOS, it was just too tempting not to jump over and give the beastly Note a spin. I'll be keeping her. :)

C'mon now. Tell the truth. You actually like that Android device?
They will be calling you a troll soon on this forum for that kind of talk.

Actually I too got the Note a week ago and love it. I guess we're both trolls then.

If more iPhone users would be open minded and try something different out, they may realize that while the iPhone is an awesome device, that there are other awesome devices out there, made by someone other than Apple.

I currently own and use both the iPhone 4S & Samsung Galaxy S2 and I love both. I own a Mbp, iPod classic and my daughter has an iPod touch and Ive owned every iPhone since day 1. From my experience with the galaxy s2 and testing out the Galaxy Note, I will def be buying it come may when my contract expires. I love the size of the note, battery life, from my experience is better than the iPhone 4s BUT it takes twice as long to charge. The iPhones battery charges super fast!!

Spent 30 minutes at my local AT&T store just now. 20 minutes devoted to the Note, another 10 to various 4.3" Android devices.

I was very impressed with the Note. Personally did not find it to look or feel too big in person. Four capacitive buttons is definitely a step down from one physical home button on the iPhone.

Screen is beautiful and web browsing is a pleasure. Pinch to zoom was fluid.

Personally I think anyone who dismissed the Note is ignorant. I certainly think this is a niche device because it is rather large but my bet is that it will sell well for Samsung. If I didn't love my iPhone 4 (and iOS) so much then I would seriously consider it.

Spent some time fiddling around with various 4.3" Android devices. Personally I would be so much happier with a 4.3" iPhone screen. I really do not find that size to be too big. We'll see what happens this fall. Another 3.5" iPhone screen would be an enormous letdown for me.

Oh please...you're on an Apple/Mac forum, what do expect? The same can be said for Android lovers about Apple/Mac.

The people on any of these forums/boards are the minority.

After a month with the Galaxy Nexus the iphone 4 looks tiny. I'll be selling it soon. And you don't miss the tiny screen at all. I am not a big guy and I had never been comfortable using the fragile iphone 4 with one hand. So the big screen really don't bug me in that sense. In reality using the Galaxy Nexus 1 handed is exactly the same as the iphone 4. I think a lot of people who dismiss the larger screen just haven't given it a good try.

As for the 3 button setup. With ICS you'll see it makes perfect sense. 1 home button is easy to understand but it doesn't lend itself to giving you more control. The 3 virtual buttons plus menu means you can do a lot more. After a while you wouldn't want to go back to 1 button. And it's really that big screen that enabled the menus as well for apps which is very useful. Drop down menus are so much more human friendly than a separate screen.

So, before buying a car, do you take time to research it's features and downfalls and see what you really like and don't like about it? i.e., educating yourself. And possibly with a few different vehicles to compare? Maybe even go test drive a few?

Now, obviously, a smartphone isn't as big of a purchase as a car (well, it might be for some) but it's still a substantial purchase in the long run. As a consumer, it's on you to do your due diligence. Just buying a product because you thing it works best is silly, especially when it's a product that you use every single day and pay at least a couple of thousand dollars for the hardware and service.

I guess you don't have time for any hobby's, or dating, or hanging out with friends or anything of the sorts either huh? Takes all of 5 minutes to compare a couple of phones feature sets. Maybe you should just learn some better time management. :)

After you flaming my post I had a quick check to see what you say to others. Out of every post you have done all of them are negative and agressive. I think you need to see a doctor if you get this steamed up over technology that you didn't even invent.
