Sorry, I should have thought of that. It's an HTC Aria. Stock. I could never be bothered to install custom roms.

I do not know how the more modern HTC phones handle it or even if they fix it for the Aria by the time if/when they fix it by the time they pushed out the last update for it.

But you are comparing a phone that pretty out dated by any standard. I have a feeling what I listed is much more the norm now days.

After using a device without a home button for the past 2 weeks, I don't miss it at all.

----------

I bought the Note using my upgrade. After having every generation of iPhone I thought it was time for a change. I really liked the Note for having a big screen and the OLED screen was really nice. I also liked the fact that I could click and drag my music, pictures and movies with out going through a program like iTunes. But not even a full 24hours, I went back and exchanged it for a 4S. I miss the fact that my Mac, iPad 2 and my phone were all connected together and made it so much easier to work. I had to download other programs to make the Note work with my Mac (which I know I had to do) I regretted leaving the iPhone.

I also bought a note with my upgrade and almost went back to the store to return it, but I stuck to my guns, learned the operating system, and now after 2 weeks it does everything I need it to. I wouldn't part with it now, and the Iphone4 is on Ebay. Getting rid of the iPhone was actually difficult because I really liked it and actually felt some weird sort of attachment to it because it is an Apple device, and I have a home full of Apple devices. I agree that it is just "easier" to stick with the iPhone because of the Apple ecosystem, but also found out that my Android based Note connects to my iMac just fine, and I even am able to transfer my Itunes library to the note intact.
The iPhone is definitely simpler to use, and is probably better for the person that doesn't like tinkering around with techie things.
I'm surprised you would return it for the 4s though, with the iPhone 5 right around the corner. If I wasn't happy with the Note, I was going to return it and get my upgrade restored, and use my iphone4 until the 5 comes out.

Well, I'm a very "techie" person, but I just didn't want to keep downloading other programs to make the Note work with my mac. I went to the 4S because I already sold my iPhone 4 and made about a 100 profit. Plus on my AT&T plan, I have the luxury of upgrading every 6-9 months. And since the iPhone 5 (or whatever they will call it) won't be out till October, I said "what the hey, I've had EVERY generation of iPhone, why not get the 4S". I was going to give the Note a 14 day trial, but I couldn't turn my back on Apple. LOL

How do you get to upgrade every six months anyway?

I tried the Samsung Galaxy Note last week. It's a pretty nice phone. It's really wide, so you can't hold coffee and hold it. And I don't know how you're supposed to talk on it. It's too big for that. But I would buy it.

It actually has some kind of mechanism that you can hold your hand down on it and still write. The iPad and iPhone can't do that.

One serious issue with your attempt of an analogy.

Despite Steve Jobs' silly comments about god having given humans 10 styluses.... a stylus is better suited for some operations... like writing or drawing (to my knowledge, Monet did not finger paint any of his masterpieces  )

I will bet you $1000 he painted a heck of allot more with his fingers than a stylus.:D

Jobs also ranted during a investor call in about less than 10 inch tablets needing to be supplied with sand paper so people can file down their fingers to use the smaller screen. Ignoring that the ipad had giant gaps between icons because apple really didn't redesign the OS for tablet but just took what they already had for iphones. And also ignoring that the iphone has a tiny screen.

He's a smart guy and he does figure out some unique things that works and sell very well but he's also prone to tunnel vision and lack of reference to facts.

Anyhow doesn't matter at this point he's dead and gone and his legacy stands on it's own both the good and bad parts.

What does matter is if people at Apple lock themselves into work to the drum beat of a dead dude who's not always right. That would kill all innovation dead.

The note might be too big for some people but there's nothing wrong with a company trying a bigger screen side to see if people would like it. And even if Apple never makes a phone with a pen (it's not a stylus btw it's a digitizer pen) hopefully they would at least take a look at the note 10.1 and realize they need a digitizer pen as well for the ipad.

IPhone 4s vs Samsung Galaxy

I've been a fan of all mac software including the new iphone 4s. However, I have heard alot of good things about the new samsung galaxy? The iphone is a great phone I just have problems with the battery staying charged? What do you feel is a better phone the iphone 4s or galaxy? My friend just got the galaxy and said its way better then the iphone. Would like any feedback!!

It's a good phone. For me, it's just too big. The footprint is humungous. The footprint of the SGSII is much more to my liking. It's tough to say which is better for another person if they don't give us much criteria, though. For me, if it weren't for the size, I would say the two phones are equals, really.

Take it from a true Apple fan, with every Apple product made...the Note is an awesome device. If Apple came out with a near 5 inch screen, I may switch back. But until then, I'll stick with the Note. I don't care whether my device is made by Apple or Samsung. I just care about how it works, and the Samsung Note works very well for me.
Some might find it too big, but thats why we all have a choice.

How the heck can you not hold it and hold coffee at the same time? If you mean that it is hard to hold and navigate with 1 hand, then I agree, it is a bit big for that, but talking on it is the same as any other phone. It is just bigger. I have large hands and I can make calls with 1 hand, but not as comfortably as my iPhone.

Nooo, I mean you can't hold the Note and the Coffee in the same hand like you can with the iPhone. This is a feature I need to have.

It's iPhone, Starbucks, Car keys with sunglasses.

have you people ever heard of pockets?
Phone in one pocket and have the sunglass either on your shirt or hanging onto a pocket. That leaves your hands free for Starbucks and car keys.

But I figure he was talking about using the phone and holding coffee at the same time.

LOL, but anyway it's part tablet so. You can't. I would really like to see someone use it like a phone. It's like holding a waffle to your ear. lol

I'll tell ya a funny story regarding Starbucks and the Iphone.Saturday I took the wife to Starbucks and of course at 10am it was packed. No biggie, as we like the place and know many people there, so waiting a bit in line is a chance to talk to friends. In the front of the line is this guy who was all too proud of the fact that he had the app on his Iphone so he could pay the tab at Starbucks. The problem is that it wasn't working for him and after a few minutes of him holding the iphone up in the air at face level and frantically tapping on the screen, someone finally said, " don't you have a few dollars in your pocket".
You could have heard a pin drop. I think he was either new to the Iphone, or didn't realize how the Starbucks payment app worked, but he looked like the biggest moron showing off the phone and holding it up at face level trying to get the app to work. Definitely not the time to figure out how to use your phone, especially in teh front of along line.

Definitely how you don't want to be!!

Actually (it seems people do tend to have a short memory) you need to remember that there were some concerns regarding the iphone's size when it first came out. The first time using an iphone certain felt like I was putting a big slab to my face. Vs some of the very small flip phones from just before.

funny addition to your story, the barristas at the starbucks i frequent absolutely hate the starbucks iphone app because the barcode that is displayed on the iphone's microscopic screen is waaaaay to small to scan, making everyone in line wait, while the starbucks app on my galaxy s2 scans in seconds and i'm on my way, americano in hand

holding a cup of coffee like that is just a recipe for disaster, however it does show everyone in Starbucks that yes, you do own an iphone. Go you.
